So the second DA really killed the franchise didn't it.

Seems that way. A shame. Guess DA2 was so repulsive it made people stop caring about the franchise. Hopefully Ea and Bioware stick with it. DA:I is the mending sequel that get people back with the franchise.

Man, just a 7 ~ 10k difference.....
Just think about it:

Look, the sales gap between PS4 and XB1:

US:
Nov 2013 - PS4 229k
Dec 2013 - XB1 ~50k
Jan 2014 - PS4 130k
Feb 2014 - PS4 10k
Mar 2014 - PS4 60k
Apr 2014 - PS4 84k
May 2014 - PS4 120k
Jun 2014 - PS4 72k
Jul 2014 - PS4 56k
Aug 2014 - PS4 30k
Sep 2014 - PS4 254k
Oct 2014 - PS4 ~120k

Total: 1115k
(btw. if I remember correctly, the difference should be 1.2 million already in the US)

The closest month was February 2014.
And with all the price cuts, BF $329 bundles, gift cards, free games, etc.... they couldn't even "erase" the february 2014 difference.
Wow.....

Probably, but they paid for it with reduced enthusiasm for the series.

I just checked on the sales of Origins on consoles in its debut month and it's almost exactly the same as Inquisition. Rather fitting that they'd be back where they started with the game that attempts to right the ship, as it were.

Origins had great legs and outsold (outshipped) the Mass Effect titles before 3 came out (not sure where that ended). Perhaps Inquisition will have similar legs. It's early in the generation.

There were other posts in this thread but this is the most salty gif I've ever seen.

lmao! literally everytime the Wii U underperforms with a new game, Nintendo fans start saying "______" will save the Wii U. its not going to be saved. Skyward Sword only sold around 3.5 million copies and that was on the Wii which had an install base of 100k+. Zelda U will be lucky to get close to 1.5 million units imo. the system is dead. as great as Zelda U looks, no way people buy a Wii U en mass unless the Wii U's price is dropped to $199 or lower. argue all you want about the value of the sytem but clearly its current MSRP is doing the system little favors, especially when retailers had PS4's and Xbox One's for around $300 during November.

Every time I look at these numbers, I feel like there is this DIE HARD group of gamer consumers out there (around 5-8 million of them). These are the people who buy the JRPG's, the Nintendo stuff, the weird fighters, and the generally unique games.

Then I feel like there are these "core" customers. (around 15 million of them) that buy COD/GTA/Triple A and nothing else. Or occasionally they suppliment it with a racing game or sports game.

I overgeneralizing and I realize that, and I'm also aware there is of course overlap in the two groups...but it's such a hard thing to accept as a developer, especially when you want to make games for that first group, but need to be profitable about it.

It's nice to see Nintendo still making banks profit wise but I too want to see Wii U crossing the 15m LTD barrier, at the very least.

Kinda impossible now.

well im happy with results, wanted wiiu to flop like fish out of water just so this whole delusion of 'wait till x game release' will stop. unless they fluke another wii there is no way their next console will even sell more than wiiu, there just isnt space for them in the market any more. sooner they go 3rd party the better so yes i want their consoles and their stupid gimmicks to flop

Amazon was almost a non factor this month. They've been good for rankings so far, but we'll see.

Not necessarily.

Xbox One unity bundle was #2 at Amazon for November. PS4 was both #11 and #31.

Since they don't show how they relate to each other, it's quite possible that #11 + #31 is about equal to #2 overall.

Sony has the generation in the bag. They had a plan and have executed it very well. I kinda feel like they've been playing MS since the start.

Schadenfreude much? You've been on this victory lap already for almost two years. It doesn't get old?

I like 'em. MarioKart 8 is fantastic.

But the sad reality is that nothing that Nintendo has released on WiiU has set the world on fire and suddenly made millions of folks want to get a WiiU.
As a console for the general masses. It's irrelevant and by inference that would imply that the general gaming masses also don't care for Nintendo's IP's as well. If they did they would by buying a lot more consoles.

Please do some gif cleaning on the first page, it crashes mobile browsers nearly every time (at least it did ten minutes ago).

More interesting results than expected anyway.

This also highlights another issue. Any chance of Microsoft money hatting an exclusive for the Xbox One is going to diminish as the sales gap widens. If they couldn't be competitive this month, and winning by 10k isn't competitive, it's winning by a margin of error - they will have an insane time convincing any third parties their console is a viable permanently home.

I say this a guy who just bought an Xbox One and PS4 within the same week for myself personally.

The price will go up, in my opinion is all that means.

I doubt they'll scoff at that and perhaps if they pick their games appropriately (projects in trouble (DR3?) vs a project they just want to go exclusive (TR)) they probably won't get that much resistance if they're providing what they IP owner/publisher wants - assuming they're willing to take the money hat in the first place.

Also, I don't think we'll see many of their third party exclusives go permanently exclusive. TR will come out on PS4/PC later. If you look at Square saying they want external funding to reduce risk, I doubt they will mind who the money comes from if the price is right.

After 25 months on the market

Gamecube - 5,700,000
WiiU - 3,082,000

Gap = 2.62m in Gamecubes favour.

Yeah, it's very bad. Despite the fact GCN was $99 at this point at its life, it still shows how hopeless Wii U is in terms of ever reaching it. Even if the Wii U had a cut to $99 it probably still would have to last another few years on the market just to have a hope of even getting close to GCN (and it certainly wouldn't make any profit/have a long life if it was sold for that low of a price).

My point is there are still at least 10 other games that sold more than it in November. For a title of that magnitude, that is terrible.

Based on what. Look at those titles that beat Dragon Age. COD, Assassin's Creed, Halo, Madden, etc. It's not like it charted behind Fantasy Life or something.

Except I didn't say it would save the Wii U. The post I replied to said Wii U had no big releases for 2015. Zelda is a big release. Stop reading into things for no reason.
