Well, this thread turned out MUCH more interesting than I thought it was. I'll keep checking back to see if those numbers are real. In the mean time, congratulations, Microsoft!

I thought there wouldn't be any salt in this thread but there's already been a bit of a meltdown, just not the way I imagined it.

What devastating costs? Are you a MS stock holder? Do you know their detailed financial plan?

It comes down to this, the brand is healthy and you guys are talking out of your ass.

The fact remains that this was the first game of the regular season and xbox eked out a victory in overtime. You guys can rationalize all you want but it doesn't change the fact that Xbox is now 1-0 and Playstation is 0-1.

Didn't MS win the same 'game' last year? How did the rest of that season play out for them?

Gratz on the win though MS :)

So if we assume similar sales on digital on the Xbone & PS4 as the WiiU and 3DS (a reasonable and safe assumption, IMHO), then both CoD and and GTA V sold more than 2.2 million each (retail + digital). Pretty damn good.

No. Smash 3DS is from Oct. launch. It didn't sell 1.5 just in Nov.

First it was China... Then the UK... And now good ole North America has stepped into the light and made the Xbox One the best selling console. Plastered all over Microsoft's hallways are "We're Number One!l posters, no doubt.

Which territory is next? Germany, perhaps? Japan?

While Sony takes its eye off the prize and is distracted by the hackgate fallout, Microsoft adeptly swoops in to take its spot at the top of the mountain. The Xbox ecosystem couldn't be healthier what with next generation consoles ahead of last gen by 80% and with the Xbox 360 quite possibly overtaking Wii as the top selling console of last generation in the coming years.

The history books will be rewritten... This time, with green ink.

FFS Why do I come into these threads

lmao! literally everytime the Wii U underperforms with a new game, Nintendo fans start saying "______" will save the Wii U. its not going to be saved. Skyward Sword only sold around 3.5 million copies and that was on the Wii which had an install base of 100k+. Zelda U will be lucky to get close to 1.5 million units imo. the system is dead. as great as Zelda U looks, no way people buy a Wii U en mass unless the Wii U's price is dropped to $199 or lower. argue all you want about the value of the sytem but clearly its current MSRP is doing the system little favors, especially when retailers had PS4's and Xbox One's for around $300 during November.

well ZeldU will be the first title I'm interested in on the WiiU. so there's that.

if you're waiting for a price drop on WiiU from nintendo I wouldn't hold your breath.

To those saying 'Nintendo lol wow Microsoft' etc have you not noticed that hardware sales are down almost a quarter from last year and microsoft have had to take massive hits to get the decent sales this month? I know we had two console launches last year which skews the year on year comparison a bit but I don't know how anyone can not be worried about the viability of the industry as it currently is.
Seems like one company should be worried about consoles sales alright.

It rhymes with your username.

So how much did Microsoft lose from each console because of that reduced price? I mean, if it's $100, then MS lost $120,000,000 last month. If we can use this kind of rude math. And who can call this a victory if Sony sold the same? :)

Grats to MS anyway, I really thought Sony would win.

What will this mean for Mass Effect 4?

People were pissed at 3, so the situation is similar to DA 2 -> DA:1.

Well, Mass Effect is a bigger franchise, so it'll naturally sell better.

I don't know if the situation is similar. A lot of people didn't like Dragon Age 2 as a whole, due to a lot of motives. But with ME 3, as far as I know, and from what I see on GAF, reddit, and BioWare forums, people still liked the game a lot, having issues only with the ending (yes, I'm aware that some people hated ME 3 entirely, but I don't think they represent the general opinion about the game).

Edit: wait, cboat is wrong? Wow!

If the difference in sales is really that small I dont see how MS can be pleased.

They might be happy that they sold well and are able to put some positive PR out there, but after all those great deals and discounts it must be frustrating.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Yeah, at this point he should be banned. It seems the train went off the rails...

...Stil, not buying the 1.2 millions number just for US...again, it's such a huge first November that MS would've been absolutely proud to state it in their PR. Heck, is the PR posted on Xbox Wire now? I read it wasn't, earlier.
