Holy shit at 700k amiibos sold already, printing money. I can imagine why there are shortages.

Yeah it was a burak furaiday bunduru war between MS and Sony, so they were always going to end on top. Numbers are still Cray though, apparently US still does like their Xbox.

Good thing you're not Sony.

Whatever dude. People were laughing at MS as well when they reduced the price like shit. But now they seem in a good position at least in US with all the publicity they are getting in holiday season. You gotta move the units, and make profits on subscriptions and games.

That are very good numbers for the xbox. IT is good for them in their country the US. But we all know that the americans are very Bias and patriotic with their own companies. The pricecut did work Wonder. They were very very aggresive and tried everything to get that NPD. For Me IT is interesting that the mcc did Not sell that well.

But i bet that on a worldwide Level the ps4 still outsold the Box. So Sony still Haß the lead.

the difference here is sony is profiting on both fronts without any price drops.

I'm curious which system call of duty sold the most on, I guess the posted numbers don't count the xb1 bundle, right?

Still those numbers heavily imply that blops 3 is going to be cross gen. Why would they pass on a 360 version when it outsold the ps4 version?

it's always interesting seeing the first page of these things lol

Oh man, go read the ten pages after CBoat's post. The fanboys were out in force!

Laughing at what though? Everyone knew with those sales it was gonna ha e decent numbers. I'm not sure what you're bitter about.

A. I am pretty confident outside of the gaming circle, no one even knows this thing exists

B. I'm pretty sure people people don't know exactly what it is

People know what an xbox and a playstation are. No matter what generation it is in, they are known brands. When Nintendo launched the Wii U, nobody knew what the hell it was.
Being the resident nerd, last Christmas I was tasked with procuring the gift for my friend's kid. "He wants that new portable thing. The Wii U, I think."

I said, "I'll check it out, but I don't think the Wii U is a portable. I'm pretty sure it's an accessory for your Wii. Nope, turns out it's an entirely new console with some kind of screen on the controller. Yeah, I dunno either. Nintendo love screens, I guess. Anyway, did he maybe want a Vita?"

Turns out, he did. <3

I don't care what other people were doing so you don't need to bring that up with me. What you suggested earlier was basically to enter a price war with Microsoft over one lost month in 2 territories even though they still sold a considerable amount. Profits doesn't have to mean beating Microsoft all the time in America.

Its us only remember, this thing is doa in mainland europe and japan, Theyve had to slash price and give away games to win a tight month in the only two places they had a chance in, they are still trailing badly in those two regions and might as well pack it up elsewhere. Its almost a hollow win if they dont continue to outsell ps4 by a margin that even makes up for the rest of the world never mind closing the gap thats already in place.

It sold the most in xbone, counting bundles (200k)

Might want to check the first part of this thread. And I am not bitter about anything. Just putting my opinion on what might come out next year from Sony's end.

What's a good way to get correct percentages from this?
Almost exactly this:
zT8cV8I.png

Taking the 242 for the WiiU from the OP as baseline you end up with:

242
895.4
1282.6

Δ = 387.2

The speculation re: numbers is silly though. Unless someone official or some actual proof is posted on the forum, then we'll never know what the gap was for sure.

I know the gap in the UK was quite small, but in the U.S I've not seen any actual proof apart from someone's word, so that's not really enough for all these articles that will float up to go on.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Dude if after MS had all those amazing deals for the system and then only took the month by a few thousand units of course people would laugh.

It doesn't matter for sony. They outsell xbox everywhere else in the world except for new zealand.
Haha I get that reference.

I really think that there is another reason that we are seeing XB1's numbers really spike in addition to the bundles and price cuts. I think xbox 360 owners are slower to adopt the new hardware than the PS3 owners. Last year and earlier this year there was little reason for them to upgrade. This year they finally saw the difference and the deals were to good to pass up. They are also seeing their games like GTA V and Halo upgraded on the system which allows them to play the games they love going forward. Its a great strategy for year 2.
It remains to be seen if it continues. It really is interesting looking at both of the hardware makers strategies going forward. I think both strategies are working well for their respective companies.

Sure but Sony doesn't decide it's entire policy based on the NPD of one single month. If/when a price cut comes it won't be just because Microsoft desperately slashed prices just to maintain a month lead in the regions it held strongest in last Gen.

Xbox One best deal was $329 with 4 free games? The AC 2 games bundle with a free game and target $50 off?
The Amazon bundle, which I purchased, came with the most content overall. It had the two AC games, Zoo Tycoon, Max Curse of Brotherhood, and one year of XBL Gold. I think the Target deal would have been the best if The Master Chief Collection was a safe purchase, but that game still seems messed up. You could have walked out of the store with the system, two AC games, and MCC for $340 before taxes. Microsoft stores seem to be doing a lot of promotions still, but I have never seen one of those in my entire life, across four states, in two distinct regions of the country. Why that stuff is limited to brick and mortar stores completely absent from major areas is beyond me.

I think people are overlooking Sony's biggest missed opportunity here - PS Plus. Price is not really the problem when you are on track to sell the most systems ever at $399 before the eventual MSRP drop. I look at my friend's list, the digital sales, and then retail sales and it starts to seem like a lot of people are using it as the Call of Duty or Destiny tax. Pretty much the same way people used Xbox Live live prior to Games with Gold, the obvious difference being the lack of a paywall on streaming services. Where the fuck have the retail games been prior to Injustice? Are Knack, Killzone, or some of the early third party games selling more than 25K per month at this point? The service pays for itself with the PS3 games, but those do not mean anything to the Xbox 360 only gamers who are a huge part of the addressable market. You put together either the M rated game bundle or the kids friendly one, throw in a decent length PS+ subscription that offers access to bunch of games that people want to play, and $399 is not a barrier at all. It probably would have put them over 1 million in sales for the month, considering how close they were to begin with. They outsold Xbox One by more than 300K in September just by having a Destiny bundle that saved people all of ten dollars. With a good PS+ offering thrown in, the difference this month could have been even less (400K isn't particularly shocking when you look at what MS was offering vs. the difference the Destiny bundle month yielded) or close to a tie.

Wii U seems to be in "first three years of PS3" mode at this point. They know the market is not supporting it at current price points, but they do not seem to care. Seems like a wasted opportunity for the software.

So why is this not the same then for PS3 owners? Your logic is a little wonky.

And how is GTAV an XBox "their game?"

You do seem bitter, though. I also have never seen you in any of the NPD threads for the past year where PS4 was winning. I doubt I'll see you in the December one should PS4 win.

Pac Man's x Rays came back. Things aren't looking good.
uhh, wat
Creamsugar, reliable insider never been wrong.
We know Xbox One sold 1.2 mil and Wii U 242k
Word, so the Ps4 is 2nd but looks like it's not that far off

Damn 53 to 37? That's a huge difference, it doesn't look that different on the pie though. As someone suggested, Sony could be in trouble

lol you didn't see people here making insane momentum and word of mouth theories in the first pages. If they actually believed that MS was gonna take a good lead then it completely invalidates their made up theories.

Like a $100 price cut and a new model announced in June?

What more do you want. There are tweets and news articles on the 1.2mil number for X1 with no refuting from reliable insiders. creamsugars pies tell the story.

I think Sony's marketing and message was much more compelling from the beginning. It made PS3 owners(me included) want to upgrade from the beginning.
MS messaging was flawed and it took a while for it to get its message across.
Im also not saying GTA V is "their" game. Im saying that the most popular games from the previous gen are seeing updates on this gen and people who want to continue playing them feel confortable trading up to this new gen now. MS had the best deals so thats the direction the buyers went.

I don't know if sony will respond rapidly, but we all know they are giving the results a lot of talk. If MS keeps the price post holidays they could be in trouble. I don't think it will cost them the global lead anytime soon, but i't would make the US and UK markets much closer.

The Question on my mind is how exactly to react? A price drop would be great, but by how much and when to time it? They let the Vita die by refusing to alter prices for far too long, would they risk the same on the ps4?

Maybe they keep bundles at 399 and hope MS drops theirs? OR maybe somethign completely different?

Who knows. One month isn't going to trigger a radical change imho. Two or three months? Probably.
