Spent a few hours getting remaining memories and random shrines along the way. Going to take a dinner break and then go after Ganon!

My OOT Link amiibo refuses to drop me another part of the costume. I got the hat yesterday at my second try, today i scanned it at least 20 times and it keeps giving me shit. Does it drop only one part or should i just keep trying?

It can drop more than one. I've gotten tons of Ocarina costumes from mine. But in all that time, I've only gotten one Biggoron Sword.

I met
Greyson
on the way to
Goron City
and sent him on his merry way to
Tarrytown
. LOL @ the sappy music when he left. I love this side quest so much already.

Jesus. What is wing with me? I'm 75 hours in with less than half the map explored and only two beasts.

I crossed 100 hours today and just headed towards the last dungeon. Even then I have one more unexplored region left and tons of quests to finish before I head to Hyrule Castle. This game just guides you and you just rack up hours.

Anywhere I can definitely get a
Zora Spear
outside of the shrine in the middle of their village? Need one to
remake the Lightscale Trident so I can hang it up in my newly-finished house.

EDIT: Nevermind, found one myself!
House is gonna look great once I've got that final after-dungeon weapon. I ain't using special stuff like that for combat

Just dropped the pants. I really wanted the tunic today but after almost 30 tries without getting anything i think the pants will do just fine lol.

Didn't know you could get the biggoron sword as well, that's neat.

Unrelated, but today i did the Vah
Naboris
dungeon. The boss was much better than the other two i saw, it had a "puzzley" component that was missing from previous bosses i faced except for
master koga (which was amazing and hilarious)
. Plus it was cool as fuck.

Can you decorate your house Animal Crossing style? Because I kind of look like a huge nerd right now with just a bed and trophy cases lol

Some shrines can get pretty big. There's one in Western Central Hyrule that has five chests and just goes on and on.

Is the 7th gate on that horse obstacle course bugged? I can't even clear it going top speed straight down the middle. Only one I have problems with.

Try going the wrong way, i.e., clockwise. Was much easier for me and you should be able to make it in time.

I've only gotten one piece of clothes from the Link Smash amiibo. I have only scanned it two or three times to see what I could get.

So, does anyone know what's up with the random blood moon? I just got 2 in a row within 5 minutes.

Edit: Just got another one.

Going to restart the game.

No, but
once you've bought all the upgrades (incl. 3 of every mount type) the builders put in some furniture to make the place look a bit less barren.

Wraped up all 120 Shrines today got my
breath of the wild green tunic set
and upgraded it to max an then went and took on the final boss feels good to finally take him down after about 100hrs.

It's totally random and weird. My OOT gave me the whole outfit within a week without even cheating with saves. My 8bit and wind waker have only given me a piece or 2 each even after 50ish tries.

Don't want to continue with the main quest just yet, so looking for fun side quests/shrine quests/shrines. What are everybody's favorites?

(I've done practically nothing in Ridgeland, Woodland or Eldin. Also don't have a
house
yet. But you needn't tailor this to my situation, just give your overall faves).

Kass and Rito's. The end of Kakariko was pretty cool too.

Buy the
house
, a quest chain starts after that.

Have you been to the Typhlo Ruins?

Just upgraded the Knight's set to level 3...

...damn at that defense. Feel like I'm making myself OP here.

Feel? You are definitely OP now.

Welp, time to go kill me some Lynels then! That and start "levelling out" in terms of how much I explore and do. I feel that I'm at a point where I can comfortably finish the main story parts and, instead of going out of my way to find things, just do whatever comes my way.

I think I finally understand why BotW is one of the best open world games I've ever played.

My map isn't covered in map markers and checklist side objectives.

The reason the game feels so goddamn magical is because you just walk in a direction and do whatever activity you stumble into. It's that kind of discovery aspect that makes the whole experience fucking beautiful.

Okay, I need a hint. Where can I find leviathan bones in the Hebra region. :/

They're by a shrine, inside the northmost mountain I believe. The entrance to the cave is blocked by two stone doors.

Must be nice to walk around and brush off getting hit. I got 5 hearts and I still get destroyed all the time. Really stings when an enemy hits you and before you can even think about what to do next... you get hit again. That Game OVER screen is rage inducing. Lol

found the second to last memory..now i only lack the last one,the one in the generic forest with no descerning feature...is there even some kind of hint in the picture or it's just dumb luck?

anyway great moment when looking for somehing completely different i look at the rising sun and i see it in the backlight...

me: it's that a friggin horse statue?

It's hidden. There's a huge stone door in the Northwest where a shrine is hidden inside a cave. The Leviathan bones are on the shrine. If you have played the snow shield surfing mini game you might see it.

Yeah, that once has no discernible landmarks. Its a bit annoying you seemingly have to get the painters help.

Yo I suck at this bowling game. It keeps veering off the right side.

lol I instinctively motioned the controller to steer the snowball and was surprised it didnt do anything.

Curious question as a complete newcomer:
Does the combat drastically improve at some point?

I'm about 3-4 or so hours in, and thus far it's been completely abysmal by modern standards. The lock-on system is complete shit, and the dodge maneuver feels like something yanked out of an N64 game. It just doesn't play well at all.

Please tell me this isn't how it works from start to finish.

There are some amazing shrines in Eldin. I like Blue Flames the most.

Game isn't about combat. If you're just walking into camps with your weapons drawn, you're doing it wrong.

Nothing really changes mechanically in this game. You pretty much have all your tools when you leave the plateau.

it's how it works from start to finish, sorry

this is no darksiders, the zelda series never put much emphasys on combat..also in this game direct combat is not encouraged at all, most of the time stalth or good placed arrows are the better strategy

It's good if people know how to actually play it :v

Not to shit on people's skills, but it becomes apparent after a point that people do not use all the available tools that the game gives to them and then they wonder why the combat is boring.

Like, you're actively rewarded for dodging properly as opposed mashing buttons and moving your hurt box out of a hit box's way.

I'd be down to discuss the system more if people brought up stuff that made sense, like how you don't necessarily have invincibility frames even when doing the perfect dodge. But as it is, I sometimes wonder what game people are playing when all I hear is "I'm slow" "My weapon breaks too fast", etc.

People would cite stuff like Platinum Games or whatever when trying to shit on the combat in this game, but I suspect that most of those people don't know how to play those games either, to be honest.

Man, people don't even need to be conservative with combat in this game... kill one thing, pick up its weapon and then bludgeon the next thing to death with what you just picked up. When you see the "weapon is almost dead" indicator on screen, throw your weapon at a dude and there's a chance that the explosion will cause him to drop his weapon, upon which you just continue to mash buttons.

Yea once you get max defense like this

and then eat defense up food you can just laugh at every enemy in the game

Yep, whilst I'm not that OP (only 54 with the full set) the Lynel I just defeated was more of a challenge in how much weapon stock it took away from me than anything. The full-on hits that would have put me down to one heart or worse before now take less than a heart off, it's ridiculous!

Yuck, that's what I was afraid of. Any other game would get slammed in the reviews for this. Nonetheless, I shall push on and see what these 10/10s are all about. Not very impressed thus far (don't even get me started on the awful durability system, or the tedious-as-all-hell cooking system).

You should get a cool surprise from that one.

Yikes, hope it doesn't happen to me haha

Best npc ever

I'm doing the Rito shrine quest where
the girl says to look for a white bird in the north west after climbing to a certain tree. I'm at the tree but I see nothing.
Any ideas?

If your mindset is "this game is supposed to be perfect, why isn't it perfect?" you're not going to enjoy this game (or any game, for that matter).

LEARN HOW TO PLAY

The durability system is not what is wrong with the combat. If you play decently, you will be swimming in weapons and will come to realize that the actual problem is inventory management.

I was stumped as well, but you want to have a look down in
northwest
direction.

Not a real bird. Rock formation that looks similar to a bird.
Not sure how to explain it without giving it away.

I don't think that's quite my mindset. I'm just not yet seeing this masterpiece of a game that so many others have praised to the heavens. I thought for sure it would knock me off my feet, but it just hasn't happened yet. Right now it feels clunky, tedious, and strangely barren. Again, I'll continue pushing on to see what awaits. If it doesn't live up to the hype, believe me, it would be far from the first game on that list.
