Android |OT8| ConFuchsia say beta is better

man i forgot how slow the animations are on pixel after using oneplus stuff.

speakers are good, but anything higher than middle volume, getting a bit of 'buzz' in my hands when holding the phone. Similar feel with the xz premium I had a while back. I don't recall nexus 6 being like this.

and yeah im not seeing an option to fullscreen crop 16:9 youtube videos like with sammy phones.

Yeah I tested YouTube in Verizon and no full screen option. Screen much better than op5?

Try going from Samsung to HTC and vice versa with window animation speed

samsung also has a really weird hitchy feel with the mulittasking carasol lol. There animations always felt strange even when smooth.

higher res, but kinda hard to tell unless im an inch away from the screen. the blueish effect isn't a large deal unless im looking at whites a bunch, which i rarely do since i tend to use all the amoled dark themes for all my apps.

The fuck. The share popup is laggy. Oneplus figured this out. Maybe you need 8gb of ram.

Also no more blobs. Rip. 😩

Don't know what they were thinking with these emojis. Gotta root to bring the blobs back.

Their excuse for replacing is valid...though they could have just updated them.

I was mortified to figure out I was sending a smile with blushes to people (the two blob smiles next to each other looked almost identical, and neither blushes!).

I picked up the Oppo R11. It's pretty good for an iPhone 7 Plus knockoff. The screen colours are a little on the warm side, but it's good otherwise.

The store had a FC Barcelona Limited Edition, but I thought FUCK THAT REAL MADRID FOR LIFE SON.

I played around with the V30 and Pixel 2 series today.

The V30 is really the nicest phone they've created made. I really enjoyed my experience using it. There was no issue with the displays either on all the units I saw. As long as it's not too much trouble to exhange, I can see a lot of of people being happy with this. Aesthetically it looks better than the Pixel phones. It honestly looks like the 2nd generation of how a Pixel 2 XL should look. The surrounding bezels on the Pixel 2 XL actually distracted me. The V30 felt like it was all screen. It blows iPhone 8 out of the water visually.

As for Pixel phones I can't believe how much like plastic they feel, lmao. Obviously they had smooth performance and everything. Other than that, they were quite boring...

The screen on both looked good and I don't care what anyone says, the squeeze feature is nice and feels so satsifying, lol. At the very least Google should let us map it to a select few apps like the camera.

Damn I might go to a store to play around with the V30 then.

My Pixel 2 came today, was supposed to be delivered between the 23-25th. Feels good to be back on a Google device. Am still keeping the Moto G5+ around.

I bought a straight talk branded Samsung Galaxy 8. Is it running off of AT&T or Verizon? I can't seem to find out if it is GSM or CDMA.

Any tweaks or tips for a first time owner? I haven't owned a Sammy since the Galaxy 3. Coming off of a Axon 7 and a LG G3 before that.

Samsung pay

It's baller as fuck and you get reward points compared to Android pay.

VanMardigan

has calmed down a bit.
I just realized that if I hit the Bixby button by mistake (which I've never done since I got a case) you can just go back to whatever app you were working on by hitting the Bixby button again. That's pretty simple and I would imagine takes some of the frustration away, plus you can disable it anyway.

Pixel 2 Durability Test

tl;dw

- Painted exterior like LG G5 means no metal on the exterior body, feels like plastic, also colored power button is plastic (but volume rocker is metal)
- Speaker grills are metal instead of cloth like the OG Pixel
- Fingerprint scanner stops working after being scratched
- Doesn't fail the bend test, but the back cracks under the pressure (seems like there's an antenna line in a traditional weak point)

Not great overall.

Does fingerprint trigger if your finger is resting on it before an app starts the request for it?

Hope that makes sense. It's a super annoying quirk of the Nexus/Pixels.

For example, I can open Mint/LastPass and have my finger resting on the sensor before the app pops up its fingerprint dialog--on the S8 (and probably every other non-Google phone), the reader will trigger and everything is good. On the Pixel, I have to lift my finger and put it back after the app officially starts "listening" for fingerprint readings.

Moving from a Nexus 5 to a G5S+, one random thing that's kind of annoying me is having the power button on the same side as the volume rocker, if only because it's more difficult to take screenshots.

You'll get used to it but I remember the transition too it's so weird.

Hope you're not the guy on Reddit who was complaining that Google didn't state the new Pixel doesn't use the old son cards and thought he just had to slide his bigger SIM into the hole xD

Nah it's fine because Google designed it.

Got my hands on the Mate 10 Pro finally :D

If the weather helps I'm figuring today I should go out and take out the P10 as well and see how both cameras compare.

But from the small testing I've done today, the Mate is a whole league ahead of the P10 in low light condition.

If there's any questions I can answer about the Mate feel free to ask, I'll try and help.

For the Mate 10 Pro, is there notification light, always on display, double tap to wake and how's the display compared to a Note 8? Thanks!

Yeah after using a op5 for a few months it's super apparent that xl2 reloads apps way more.

How many apps are you running at once?

I don't have any issues with performance these days on flagships, but high-end phones that can't hold apps on memory is something that legitimately annoys me now, especially in browsers.

Does anyone have a Note 8 here and if so do tabs refresh using the Samsung broswer? I think that's the one that bothers me the most.

I'm guessing you need a Samsung phone to use Samsung pay?

I haven't used any of these feature of paying with your phone. Is it better than paying with a card? I never know if a store accepts those types of payments. Some terminals don't even take chip yet.

Chrome beta. Twitter. Discord. Sync with reddit. FGO and a few other games. Pocket cast YouTube.

Are the key stuff I use. Sync reloads more frequently. FGO basically guaranteed to reload lol. Doubt it's optimized well for Android. Even op5 reloads it somewhat often.

Phone or Samsung Gear s3 watch. Samsung pay uses magnetic voodoo tech that works on any swipe register (chip ones is hit or miss), so it works in more places. Never got it to work at gas stations though.

$1100... I have no idea what I'm going to do when my Nexus 5 dies.

"Used Pixel 2. Battery dies at 20%, there's a dent on the top-right corner, and a long scratch right down the middle of the screen. $400 firm."

Rogers has it for $1000? *shrug*

Rogers also isn't selling it in store. Only through their website.

Your always gonna get app reloads if your trying to run mulitple games that hog vram at once.

This explains somethings though.

I need a backup phone as I save up for the Xperia XZ Compact:

My choices are:

LG G5 at around $170
HTC 10 around $209
S7 around $250

G5 has a great camera and IR blaster along with removable battery.
HTC 10 has a great camera and mostly stock feel with great speakers
S7 has MST, VR, and Samsung bloat.

What should I buy?

S7... .

Stay away from the G5 due to bootloops.
