The form 1 for my Skorpion pistol has been approved! It is now the dopest little rifle.

When has a gun owner lurking somewhere ever been good news?
We can post dozens of links to stories about law abiding citizens perventing crimes including murders from occuring if you'd like...

Anyways, thinking of purchasing a Glock 19X. Haven't had my hands on one yet, have any of you yet?

I made the mistake of ordering a bunch of Cerakoted parts from Republic Firearms in Ohio. I didn't look for reviews until three weeks into my wait. I'm at a month and a day and my order is still sitting at "Processing" on their website, nobody's responded to my emails or my Facebook messages, and apparently they don't answer their phones so I haven't called them yet, but I'm going to blow up their phones soon if I don't hear from them.

I've grown up around guns and have shot numerous guns but don't own any. I'm saving up to get a pistol but not sure what I should get. Budget is going to be the largest factor. Can I get some suggestions?

For budget, I would like to stay close to $300. Anything below would be awesome.
I would love a .45 but a 9mm would probably be cheaper, correct?
I don't like the way small pistols feel in my hand so I don't really want something with a 3" barrel.

Do I even have a chance of finding something with a budget that low?

Absolutely. In terms of pricing it really depends on what you're looking at and a 9mm wouldn't automatically be cheaper than a .45. I have an fns 9mm and the place I bought it from sells the fns 40 cal for almost $100 cheaper. 9mm rounds are definitely cheaper than .45s. What you'd be using it for, ie, edc, home defense, or just a range plinker would all factor in to what someone would suggest to you. Do you have a specific reason why you'd want a .45 over a 9? Do you have a preference of used vs new?

For your budget, the first thing that comes to my mind without doing any looking is the S&W SD9VE. It's full size, and you can find it new for under $300. I would definitely recommend checking out your local shop and asking for suggestions. Then, rent a few at the range to see what feels best for you.

Hope this helps.

You could probably find a police trade in Glock 17 for around $300 (Edit: Nevermind, prices went retarded). Check out your local gun stores, see what they have in their preowned cabinets, and don't be afraid to offer a little less if it's a privately owned store.

I got my EAA Witness in .40 for under $300 used with a second magazine. I'd have jumped like an insane rabbit on one in 9mm, but I was happy enough with .40

I just became the proud owner of a Beretta 92fs. Next for me I’m thinking a Glock 22, then an AR15. Eventually I want to get a S&W Model 686 and maybe a 22lr just for fun.

I've got a Glock 34 that I use exclusively for shooting at the range.

I used to have a Glock 19 as an airsoft gun so many years ago, so I ended up getting used to the look/feel of Glocks as a result. I debated between a traditional Glock 17 or a really awesome looking CZ Shadow 2, but at the end of the day I knew I was going to be range shooting more than anything, and I wanted to stick with something I already felt comfortable with.

It's served me really well.

Haven't touched it with any modifications yet, but if I was I'd probably get some kind of sights.

Anyone got any recommendations for an IWB holster for Shield 2.0? Seem to be having a harder time finding something specifically for the 2.0 model. I've used Raw Dog Tactical's IWB for my Walther and I like them but they don't carry the Shield 2.0.

Have also used Alien Gear Cloak Tuck in the past and that's way too bulky. Not a fan.

This week has been gorgeous. Unfortunately tomorrow I'll be spending all day at a local high school so no guns for me. Sunday, though, back to the range if the weather allows it.

That pink is awesome! And the pink PMag is cool too, did you dye it?

So I finally finished the build I started back in Nov. It's been done for a while but I haven't had time to go to the range.

I wanted to buy a x3 magnifier for the red dot. Anyone have any recommendations on a decent one that won't break the bank? I'd spend a lot but I honestly go to the range about twice a year. Thanks.

Ha! I thought I was the only one that liked CQR spacegats:

I also added even more crap to my space-10/22:

As for a magnifier on a budget, I really like the PA Gen IV LER 3x. Available with a lower 1/3 QD mount for a very reasonable price. I recently stuck one on that lightweight build behind a Holosun HS503G (ACSS reticle) and am very happy with it.

Got a KNS piston installed for use in my suppressable shorty. If the weather isn't terrible, I'll give it a try tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.

2 M1 garands
Ruger Precision Rifle 6.5 Creedmoor

Smith Wesson Sports II
Ruger 10/22
Tula SKS
Mini 14
Mossberg 500
Mosin Nagant
Ruger PC Carbine

Might upload some pics later.

Just bought a M&P 10 in 6.5 Creedmoor and joined a range association. I couldn't even get it on paper at 100 yards. They have some 25/50 yard ranges so next time I will start there.

This range I joined is awesome, they have a rimfire silhouette range with 100s of metal silhouettes out to 100 yards. So much fun.

I was looking into buying a first gun myself. I kind of want to go for something for home protection, but I honestly hate handguns. Would a rifle work you think?

I'd go with a shotgun in this case. For purely home defense, the shorter the total length from stock to end of barrel the better in my opinion. You want a big shot pattern and you you don't want to banging into the edges of your doorways.

If you want something you can take to the range and have fun with, I would get a carbine (shorter barrel rifle) like a AR-15 carbine.

Not sure why anyone would hate handguns, but if you want a non-handgun home defense gun then you are of course looking at rifles and shotguns. In those, shorter is better for maneuverability inside the house. A real downside to those will be how loud the blast will be when fired inside the clsoe confines of your house. It will be deafening and disorienting to say the least. Even a handgun would not be pleasant, but take that X10 for a rifle or shotgun.

Another plus for handguns is it is much easier to store them and there are a bunch of small gun safes that can store a pistol for easy quick access. Much harder to do with a shotgun.

If I had to pick a firearm for home defense, I'd probably go with a 10.5" AR15 pistol with a decent brace and a flash can on it. Reasonably compact, very easy to handle and use, cheap as hell, accurate, not a lot of worry about overpenetration, tons of options for lights, sighting systems and the like, highly lethal and you get 30 tries before you have to reload.

At least with the handgun I shot, it was a terrible first impression. Maybe I just need to try some other ones...but it was super compact to the point that it was just uncomfortable and actually had some terrible recoil as a result of I guess how small it was.

I love my 8.5" AR15 pistol but everyone kind of packs up and leaves when I take it to the range so I don't think it'd be a great self defense weapon inside a house unless I went deaf first

Remember the Noisy Cricket from Men in Black? You can have a powerful gun in a small form factor but it's not going to be comfortable or great handling, generally.

A full size duty 9mm or .45 will generally feel quite stable and good in the hands. There's the tried and true 1911 that should be easiest to find somewhere to rent on a range. You can go polymer frame like a Glock 17, steel frame like a CZ75, or a polymer w/ steel slide like the Springfield XD. Try something in a full size or "regular" compact frame and chambered in a reasonable caliber and your impression should be way different.

My vote goes for the CZ 75 SP 01 and add a flashlight to it. The gun feels amazing in your hands and it also is very accurate. Also get hollow points.

As others have said now, if you try a full size pistol I think it will be a very different experience for you. Nothing unpleasant about shooting any of the popular calibers (9, 40, 45 etc) through a full sized pistol. I hope you get to do it, have fun!

Just finished turning parts into a pistol.
AR pistol that is!
Still need to add a light and optic.

Purty. I'd like to build an AR pistol down the line myself, I was thinking a 300 Blackout. Just finished upgrading my AR the other day with a new sling.

In regards to my next purchase, I want to get a 1911, but I'm debating between the R1 Enhanced, and the Springfield RO. Any 1911 guys here with a preference?

What do you guys think of the SIG MCX Rattler? Shoots 300 blackout.

I kinda want something other than an AR15. And I like that it's not direct impingement. And it's small.

Super interesting gun with a lot to like. My biggest concerns would be price (over $2K) and Sig's history of discontinuing and abandoning these new creations (like the Sig 556 that I have). But if the price is fine for you and if Sig doesn't abandon the platform over the next few years then I think it could be a solid choice.

It would be fine with subsonics, but the barrel is simply too short to do well with supersonic ammo. It's not like an 8.5" .300 BLK is unwieldy, so I'd rather go with that.

So I was firing my 308 savage model 11 and noticed the barrel mount had come loose. (Edit. Not just the barrel, everything including the receiver.) I removed the entire assembly from the stock and the screws were ok, just loose I think. I put it back together hand tight. Reading online people seem to be recommending 40-50 ft-lbs which seems like a whole hell of a lot of torque for a 5/32" allen wrench.

Anyway, I bought that savage because it is very accurate for its price. But I have probably put only 50 rounds through it and the gun comes loose from the stock. Cone on savage, that is poor build quality.

Edit. Apparently what was loose was the "pillar screws" which don't need that torque requirement

Just put a deposit down on a SilencerCo Saker ASR. Gotta get my fingerprints done since the FFL I'm using doesn't do it all in-house, small shop.

Gotta decide what my free silencer is going to be between the Warlock, Spectre, and Octane

But i'm the type of guy who carries a 3.8" .45 So i'm fine with the short barrel, it's kind of a turn on for me. I mean I think I would eventually get a silencer and go sub (before it becomes illegal) but I still like it as is. What do you like as a bigger option?

Form 1 may go out at the same time to SBR an AR lower if I can find another envelope.

You can get them for decent prices on the used market. Arfcom's equipment exchange is worth keeping an eye on. You'll mostly see TA31s on there, though. For new scopes, EuroOptic is a great dealer to check out. Their prices are great. Never pay MSRP for an ACOG!

At this point, I have four of the stupid things. A TA11, 45, 50, and 33. IMO, the glass quality makes them more than worth it.

I would like to get a Five Seven someday.

Beyond the personal protection or hunting aspect, guns are fun to shoot.
I couldn't agree more. Even though it's been a long time for me, I really enjoy going to the range with some buddies. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend it.

For that price you're probably looking for a Taurus or S&W in 9mm.

I had a PT92AF for a while and it was a perfectly fine pistol - the only reason I sold it on was that I'd recently picked up a CZ-75B and a buddy of mine was looking for a first pistol for HD. Plenty accurate and ran like a top. I know Taurus gets a lot of shit, but I've had nothing but good experiences with the 92 and their revolvers.

I admit that I'm less likely to buy their stuff now that they don't do the lifetime warranty any more though.
