1. A countering voice to the "SJWs are the world's greatest problem" circlejerk, for starters.

2. Really? You called pixel's friends "cunty," as in you think having a vagina is a negative. Really not the kind of word to use in a thread about a movie like this.

You really are a thick cunt aren't you. Cunty has nothing to do with being female, cunty just means being a cunt, but then again feigning misunderstanding is a common tactic among your type, you're a dumb cunt but not that cunting dumb.

Oh and on point 1 - I might buy that if you'd ever shown any evidence of an IQ in 3 digits. As it is it's doubtful you even reach 2 digits. You're so useless in debate you only harm the SJW cause, so keep it up champ.

I’ve said it before, don’t thought police Australian vernacular. You have no right. Do better. Or are you bigoted?

It is not a sexist term. Don’t bring Americanisms into my language.

Don't go to Australia.
You'll be very confused and upset.
Or here in the UK for that matter.

You're treating the female anatomy as inherently negative. You might not intend it to be sexist, but that doesn't change the truth that it is.

Also, shitty sexist language is not some sacred cultural tradition on par with religion or centuries-old institutions, so please don't try to pretend you're being persecuted.

I'm well aware of how Aussies and Brits use it, and I'm not going to shield my ears if I hear it. But that doesn't make it great, and why can't we encourage people to be better?

Be better like yourself?

But you seem like a bit of a cunt mate.

I just wanna say I think you are all fine, quality people.

Also

The Reel Rejects caught flack for their review, they are basically accused of being artificially positive just because they had a female guest reviewing with them.

They responded, as well as gave their thoughts in regard to politics in comic book movies, and IMO raise a couple decent points. If you are up for it, take a listen

The highlight of this vid, for me, is when they point out the issue with a comment that was left basically saying "you guys are wrong because you go against the consensus, so instead people should go watch ScreenJunkies, who agree with everyone else." This seems like flawed thinking. A spectrum of opinions is good. Everyone shouldn't agree on everything, all the time,.

Im actually wondering, what is the exact quote on what Brie said? Does she explicitly say she hates white men?

According to this video from Reel Rejects, and according to what else I have read, it sounds like her actual quote was much more harmless than the headlines twisted them to be.

There was a lot of context to your comments that got squashed just into the "white dudes bad" headlines

I can see how her actual comments could still alienate white males, but I don't think she was necessarily trying to do that. She made a mistake, imo

To me it sounds like what she said was not every movie is made with white men in mind, so their opinion on that kind of movie isn't what she is really concerned about (I think she referenced A Wrinkle In Time, specifically)

Get that outta here DeepEnigma, you know damn well the only way of supporting women is to completely trash the opposite sex, and when your movie is bad and both males and females are giving it negative reviews, it's toxic males bombarding the reviews with fake ones. Who cares about all the 10s that are 100% fake as well. Gotta keep dat Future is Female thang alive and well.

Dick, cock, prick, knob

There are plenty of rude words based on the male anatomy. Why only focus on the female versions?

She said "man hating", as in, her comments come from a place of bashing/hate. But you know what semantical play on words you're doing.

Only the regressive's are allowed to use terms like "dog whistling" and read deeper, huh?

Didn't say those were good, either. And maybe, just maybe, using that particular word isn't smart in a thread where guys are insisting that their attacks on a feminist movie have nothing to do with sexism?

Go to the OP and click the link and read shit yourself, I'm not your mother.

But your mental gymnastics are going to trip over itself, regardless. And doublespeak will ensue, yada, yada, yada.

Seeing as I'm from the US, I personally don't really use the word for the same reasons, but I have to wonder if you feel the same about "prick." Also negative gendered language that you avoid and criticize others for using?

I have read the quote in OP and in the article, I don't see anywhere where she says she hate white men.

Called it. It seems they have to specifically spell it out like a fucking two-year-old to regressives, but anytime somebody on the center or right says something with the exact same phrasing, they hear all the dog whistles and underhanded racism and sexism in it.

Y'all are full of shit.

Toughen up sunshine, I know you're playing a semantics game.

If you expect me to care about that, you will be dissapointed.

Only thing I see is people twisting her words. She talk about including more diversity into her press tour because she has observed the majority are white males, she wants more seats at the table.

Listen here, cunt. If she didn’t want people to criticise her for being sexist and racist, she shouldn’t have said her interviewers were too white and too male. It’s pretty fucking simple.

You don’t get to do what you accuse others of doing then play the victim when they do it back to you.

You’re not clever enough to play this semantics game. Both you and her know that it’s not about more seats at the table. The number of seats at the table is fixed in this argument. If she wanted to include more non-white females, she could work overtime to do extra interviews. But she’s not doing that — she’s complaining about too many white males, i.e. replace them with non-white females. That is racist and sexist and you types can’t handle being foisted on your own petard.

Here is one of the main quotes that started this

“About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male,” Larson told Marie Claire interviewer Keah Brown, a disabled journalist the actress handpicked for the gig. “So, I spoke to Dr. Stacy Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who put together a study to confirm that. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of color, it sounded like across the board they weren’t getting the same opportunities as others. When I talked to the facilities that weren’t providing it, they all had different excuses.”

Here is a video of her talking about it at an awards show or something, and setting up why she feels the way she feels

This speech is what I originally thought everyone was mad about.

If you watch her speech and give her a chance, she really isn't THAT off base

A Wrinkle In Time WASN'T made for white dudes. That is true. She's saying that statistically movie reviews are represented by a narrow demographic when the audience is a much wider demographic

EDIT

PLEASE watch the speech if you haven't, I think it provides the complete context to this entire debacle

You would not even be in this thread defending her, if she used any other race/sex. Stop frontin'.

How is it racist and sexist to point out cultural and gender biases? She's trying to be more inclusive, not less.

That's disingenuous. That a word originated as a pejorative due to its association with a specific thing doesn't mean it has retained that connotation. Hysterical would be a good example. No one associates that with its original intent.

She is full of shit. Marvel has done fantastic after they were acquired by Disney. Kevin Feige literally saved Marvel Studios.

Without the backing of a big corporation like Disney, Marvel would reacted more quickly to their dismal comic book sales sooner, possibly saving themselves from the brink (like they did last time). Unfortunately, because the movies are doing well, it makes Marvel look more successful then the absolute joke they’ve become - a joke so terrible, it is killing the entire comic book industry. There was a time, not too long ago, that Marvel Comics were really amazing. Now they aren’t worth the paper they are printed on (literally).

Don't know if this was posted or not already, but this gave me the lulz.

I really doubt the Rotten Tomatoes user reviews play any kind of role in a film's success or failure. I don't know anyone who gives a shit about them. Since the video is commenting on Captain Marvel's apparent success and is pointing out all these empty theatres, are they saying the $160 million opening is a lie? Is it not just more likely that, so far, the film is indeed a success?

To be honest I never checked rotten tomatoes scores, critics or audiences, for any movie ever. I simply never used their site, often came into contact with them mostly through what is mentioned in youtube videos or articles about certain movie scores.

Always just watched youtube reviews from various outlets or individual creators and made up my mind if I wanted to see a movie or not. With big blockbusters like the fast and furious series, big marvel films like avengers, mission impossible, I didn't even need reviews I would wanna see them anyway.

And I doubt the mainstream crowd out there cares that much for these scores either. It's marketing and word of mouth for them etc. So all these score wars that are just trash on both sides when it comes to polarizing movies like this or the trash heap that was last jedi are maybe meaningless? I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

In opposite to video games, I have, for whatever reason, never clicked and checked for film reviews.

I see some trailers and TV spots, if it looks good and get's me hyped up, Im watching it.

I don't watch movies often in cinemas either, last movie I watched in cinema was Infinity War and before that it was Blade Runner 2049, never checked reviews or video opinions for any of them, the trailers got me hyped and excited.

I had never cared about Blade Runner until I saw this trailer:

After I saw it, I decided to watch it in cinema, so I watched the first movie asap and saw 2049 in cinema.

I think it was Morgan Freeman who said in an interview that word of mouth matters the most, not reviews and video opinions.

And just to have it said, Denis Villenuve is my favorite director. I recommend everyone to watch Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario and Arrival.

If it did make 160 it seems plausible mainly because weren't they doing campaigns of buying movie tickets for kids or less fortunate? Plus the advertising campaign and those fluff interviews to get people on their side pretty much helped. Disney knows how to work it lol. I will be skipping it and watch happy death day seems fun.

If you haven't already, watch Blade Runner 2049. It's a masterpiece. It's a travesty it only won Best Cinematography in the Oscars, should have won more, but it was time Deakins won something. Deakins cinematography is incredible.

Otherwise, you should also watch Nightcrawler. Psychotic Jake Gyllenhaal is best Jake Gyllenhaal. Looking forward to his potrayal as Mysterio in Far From Home.

I've seen Blade Runner really enjoyed it. I'll take a look at Nightcrawler.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
I feel IW and the Russos have spoiled people for what to expect out of MCU movies.

I expect some big blasting shit to happen in Endgame. Quite perfect and insane that we only know about the first 20-30 min of the movie (traile, superbowl spot) of a movie that most likely will last 3 hours.

I expect this following the Avengers theme:

2316667-steven_rogers__earth_616__wielding_mjolnir.jpg

If Cap wields Stormbreaker in any way whatsoever the movie jumps into my Top 3 Marvel movies just because of how badass that would be to actually see.

And I mean wielding it. Not just casually picking it up like Vision did to Mjolnir. I wanna see Cap wrecking fools.
