Last known contact of Keraj37 was Feb 22, 2019.

15 years pass and a highly experienced team head into the jungle for scientific research when all of a sudden...

The legendary Keraj37 was seen only for a brief moment, swinging through the vast amount of trees never to be seen again.

keraj37 keraj37 Good to hear you are alive and kicking. I'm going to assume that while you are going into the rainforest you are also not going too deep.

Don't worry mate, you're not missing anything. A C-list actor committed career suicide, Crackdown 3 wasn't the next coming of Christ, and the EU is still business as usual. Keep it real mate down there.

Thanks all for support and comments. Some are really funny and made me smile.

I will be straight honest now - I tried to live like I described but it was to much for me.
The heat, constant sweating, incredible exhaustion after few days, it all pushed me back to my home in Europe.

You were all right about how stupid idea it was.

The biggest problem was water - for some reason it wasn't raining at all even if it supposed to be rainy season - that is why I couldn't count on that source of clean water.

Also there is plenty of people living like that in the forests in French Guiana - they call them smokers. I was just 5th wheel in that car.

Hey, it's going to be a great pickup line.

"I just got back from trying to live in the rainforest. I can't recommend it."

Hey, but still, good job on making it that far. You had a goal and went after it and obviously got a ton of valuable experience from it. Really proud of you, man!

Welcome back OP. What did you do while you were there anyway? Just walk around and chop down plants? Did you have a tent or did you do a hammock or how were you sleeping?

Glad you made it Back OP.

Some more impressions would be nice and some pictures of what was going on there and about the smokers. Happy you’re alive and well!

Well smokers are just homeless people taking advantage of tropical climate, but also they are burning stuff wherever they stay for a while - I don't know why, but I assume it is kind of drug.
Here are some pictures I made returning home.

I didn't have tent and I didn't use the hammock - plain sleep on the ground. In one place the ants almost ate my arm off. Very aggressive creatures.

Hate to say I told you so, but there’s stubborn and then there is willfully stupid. I would do some real soul searching if I were you, maybe therapy because there’s something misfiring upstairs I think. Good luck.

Does anyone of you have experience in living in rainforest?
I am going to spend at least a year in South American jungle - like the very center of it, so it is raining for 10 months and dry season is for 2 months.
What advice would you give to me?
I would appreciate real advises, tips & tricks.

Cheers

Pacific North West > Rain forest if you want to go all zen with nature.

For rain forest advice I would say bug spray but then I would say no because that would pollute. Just remember everything can kill you.

I grew up in Houston where every plant and animal wants to sting or eat you. Rains half the year and everything is moist all the time.... no spank you! I moved to the desert for a reason. My advice is don't touch anything!

I would like to try that...living in rainforest that is. All experiences in life are good as xp raise your level up you will be better person ... Or depresed one

I wanted to revive this thread to make a place where I could write about my desire to come back to amazonia. I really love it.
Even the spiders that could eat your head off - I love them.

Everything about the south American jungle is beauty!

I am saving money now to come back, but to come back wiser and with knowledge what you can expect.

Here are few things I know are crucial to survive there:
1. Be prepared to enormous exhaustion due to heat and humidity.
2. Rainy season doesn't meant you can fill your bottles with fresh water. In fact it wasn't raining at all during my stay there and it was the middle of rainy season.
3. People, yes people there in amazonia are tough. In a way that if they find you defenseless in the middle of the jungle they will use this situation to leverage their desires over you by any means.
4. Despite thinking you are the only Indiana Jones of your times, I met many like me there - in fact it was crowdy there.
5. Invest in equipment like water prove boots and poncho, and of course very water resistance tent.
6. You will need a lot of tools like machete, fire starters of any kind.
7. Finding food there is not a big problem but problem is to find a way to cock it or prepare. ON top of that you are also a food for jaguars and such creatures.
8. Communication? English speaker? Forget it, even in the airport I couldn't get to agreement with bartender. Where I stayed French only and sometimes if you are lucky Spanish will do.

Oh amazonia I am coming to you!

Damn I actaully thought this is a fun/joke thread. It seems you really have been in the rainforest! Respect! I just realized that this kind of setting would be amazing for a game haha. Main character decides to go to the rainforest just to live there and encounters drug producers and gets captured. Sounds like a cool plot.

Dude just have like a jungle experience with a guide/expert. Even the most savvy struggle to survive. No one ‘ stays ‘ in the jungle. I’m glad you now know you need a poncho and water protection, but I stil don’t think you get it.

Everyone eventually die, but even said that I know what you mean - I think I know how to do it this time.

I suggest you watch as many survival videos on YouTube as you can before going back into the jungle. Some tools a poncho and a waterproof tent won't be enough.

Yes. Go on a guided exploration. Learn from people who teach this. Then go home and improve your preparedness. Then repeat.

Thanks for asking and bringing to life this old thread. I am more then fine but just betwen you and me, I work hard now to save money to go back some day - I loved the tropic climate just not the living in plane jungle :D

Was there ever a point where you had to drink your piss Bear Grylls stylee?
