I...don't know how to feel about this. They're making changes, and that's fine, since if I wanted to see the original story, I'd watch the original movie. Parts of it look good, parts of it look bad, still not sold on Will Smith Genie, but maybe I could come around on him.

Not totally sold on the cast, but I love what I see.

Sometimes I feel like GAF standards are over the moon.

Looks ok. The genie still looks visually bad but Will Smiths take on the character doesn't seem that bad.

Honestly the worst one by far is Jafar. The actor is too young and his voice and delivery don't fit the character at all

Looks intriguing to me, at least. Could be mediocre, could be great... but the key is that it made me want to see more, which is a good sign.

Jafar and the guy playing Alladin still look kinda weak in their performances. But overall it's atually looking pretty good, even Genie looks way better than the teaser suggested.

It looks terrible, but 8 year olds don't know that so I'm sure it's fine to the audience that will be going to see it.

Jafar is so badly cast it’s not even funny... and I’m not sold on... ok I’m not sold on any of the cast actually...

Meh. Well. Meh... we shall see. Maybe it will be fun?

I don’t see the point of doing a shot by shot recreation of the cartoon. All of these live action remakes are cash grabs.

Looks fun. They're not super original but I've enjoyed the Disney remakes so far.

Smith's genie seems ok? I see lots of people freaking out over it but I don't think it seems that bad.

Agreed. I was looking for Jafar to have that menacing voice he had in the animated movie. But it’s a remake and there will be some differences especially going to love action. Overall I think it looks good though.

I will be satisfied if they don't turn the Genie in the smartass of the movie. Alladin is the streetwise, sassy one. The Genie should be charismatic and cool but in a crazy way. Preserve this and I'm cool.

Don’t really like the look of it. This one probably would have been best left as a cartoon only. Kids will probably like it though.

I'm still not feeling Jafar. Sure, he doesn't have to be as old as the cartoon or have a similar voice, but the two lines he's delivered so far don't really sound good. It's not bad acting per say but the animated Jafar had a very engaging voice and this one doesn't from what I've heard.

Smith definitely feels better in this preview. I highly doubt he'll be on par with Williams, sure, but he seems like he's be fairly fun. The little bit of singing we got sounded kinda rough but I'll reserve judgement until I hear the full song.

I finally am okay with this Aladdin (the character) now. I seem him smiling more, jumping around, etc., finally feels like the character. Jasmine seems fairly good too and I like both their singing so far.

I've got a bit more hope for this one now. But seriously, I'm kinda more excited for Dumbo as that's an animated film I don't think of as highly so there's more room for improvement in a new version. Honestly, Disney should remake The Black Cauldron, there's an animated film that had a lot of potential but ultimately had a lot of problems and a remake could totally be an improvement. Stuff like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King don't really have anything to improve on so focusing on "weaker" films to remake would be nice.

Flamboyant sounding jafar is currently my only complaint. I’ve already warmed up to will smith as genie. Aside from the usual trailer cringed wub Wubs, it looks alright.

Was the whole cast confirmed? Is Gilbert godfried still Iago?

A couple more thoughts from the trailer.

First off, he makes being tossed into the ocean while tied up look like fun, just look at his face.

Also, who wants to bet that the last shot in the trailer is also the last shot in the movie? I've seen trailers do that before.

Edit: On closer inspection, that looks like it'll be from the new "Never Had a Friend Like Me" song. Carry on.

Strangely I noticed that too, but in hindsight for the original scene of him being tagged and gagged and thrown into the sea to die was pretty dark for a kids movie.

HOLY FUCK I LOVE DISNEY

Prince Anders is an upcoming character in the 2019 film Aladdin, and is portrayed by Billy Magnussen. He is a suitor from Skanland and potential husband for Princess Jasmine.[1]

This character article is a stub. You can help Disney Wiki by expanding it.

Trivia
  • Prince Anders is an original character, created for the 2019 version.
    • He could also be a rename for Prince Achmed from the original movie.

I might be the only one but when they started singing A whole New World, nostalgia chills ran down my spine and the song sounds better than ever.

I feel like a live action version of Aladdin can’t top the Robin Williams classic, but I don’t fault people for being curious to see this one. We all know why Disney is doing this one...$$$$.

There are several red flags with this Aladdin movie, but one of the biggest is the director, i.e. Guy Ritchie. This is a man who really hasn't made a good film since Snatch 19 years ago (a totally different genre, whilst to a lesser extent the first Sherlock Holmes is an 'okay' movie). The rest? It ranges from forgettable "passable stuff" to complete Total shit-tier crap. If anyone had the misfortune of watching his King Arthur Legend of the Sword in 2017, they'll know what I'm talking about.

I disagree. He has a lot of potential for this type of film. I have to admit I haven't seen everything he's done, but what I've seen has been great. Both Sherlock Holmes movies are excellent! In fact, Guy Ritchie is the only reason why I'm willing to give this Aladdin a shot!

It doesn't look very good. Obviously has a good budget, but still feels very low quality for some reason. The live action characters don't seem to have any charisma, though the trailer might not be helping with that.
