No way this is that VR space game for PSVR is it? I thought it was an Oculus exclusive!

Meh. Good news for PSVR owners, I suppose.

I have to say though - I watched the Youtube stream (on a PS4, for what it's worth) and evidently they were not prepared for the amount of viewership. When they showed CTR I though that was some original version, because the stream was so pixelated I couldn't tell. Might as well have been a PS1 game.

Well, Nintendo Direct this was not, i guess they save the Big Games for PS5...which begs the Question, why start now ?

I appreciate it being short and to the point, at least.
Hopefully the next ones will both be short and have more non-VR content.

Basically Just a bunch of things that they would keep out of a conference.
They should have stated it was VR focused.

Disagree. People got tired of seeing the same games year after year. 2017 and 2018 were really bad and 2019 is cancelled because of this.

They should have had the announcements no more than 2 years before release and then also have focused on smaller games, indies, third party and VR.

And I believe it was acknowledged after, and something they were going to work on doing closer to release windows.

I'm still confused as to why this happened?

It being their first State of Play...you'd think they'd want to come out with a bang, especially after seeing what works and what doesn't for other companies. Instead they went in and were pretty mediocre. It looks very weak when comparing to the news of the time. People who know better know that this is just the tip of the iceberg, but for now, Sony looks weak. I'm not sure if this is by design, or do they really have nothing good to talk about right now.

Honestly, most people don't really care. A year from now most gamers couldn't even tell you what was shown in the first "State of Play" show.

What do you want them to show? They have announced all their exclusives already for the rest of this generation they are out selling the competition 3 to 1 they really don't need to do anything else till they announce the ps5

Here’s my hot take, I liked the format, the length left a lot to be desired. However, It dawned on me that this event was Sony subtlety throwing the gauntlet down to these companies fighting for scraps for streaming. Sony basically said through their games, not words, that they’re doubling down on vr. They're saying while 4 of you duke it out we're over here the only company taking VR seriously, who happen to also have a streaming service, half assed as it currently is. Idk if it's smart long term but it's their play

Sony is betting that vr will differentiate them enough to stand out from all these streaming service companies. They’re saying vr IS the future, or rather apart of the future. Just like how all these tech titans are claiming streaming is the future, I believe streaming will be apart of, but it is not the immediate future. Does anybody agree with my take?

I think this was to show gamers and their competitors that they don't need E3 to show you what they have in store.

However, their biggest problem today was not to tamper people's expectations because thought they were going to show Last of Us Part II today.

People don't understand how marketing plays a huge role in all of his and they have to deal their cards just right.

Revealing big titles right now will not only take away attention from Days Gone, but Sony would've already shown their hand.

If Microsoft has a big E3 and Sony announced The Last of Us II release date after their press conference, people would most likely be talking about The Last of Us and not Microsoft's conference.

This is what they would lose if they announce the release date too early. Now, this is if the game is going to be released this year.

I agree with your take. Funny enough Sony is the only one of ALL the companies that have been doing streaming for YEARS to actual customers. To me, everyone else is pretending. Google Stadia has literally no price to speak of and nobody has actually played games on MS's Xcloud at all!

I mean take a look at this tweet by Sean Murray.

Who thought in 2013 that this would be playable in VR on a PS4?

So yeah, Sony has streaming already AND is giving people 2nd and 3rd gen VR games right now (and not years down the road). Nothing is theoretical for Sony at the moment. It's all in the consumer's hands. MS and Google are "telling" us how awesome their stuff will be. Hololens burned me when it came to believing MS at their word.

It was okay. Short and to the point. I hope the next has less VR.

p.s. I liked the Days Gone and the Concrete Genie trailers.
