HCwikit.jpg

A Lightweight match up with the potential to be the most violent in division history goes down inside Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa., this Saturday (March 30, 2019) when Edson Barboza squares off with Justin Gaethje in UFC on ESPN 2’s main event. Fight fans will also get to enjoy a Middleweight bout between David Branch and Jack Hermansson, as well as a Featherweight slugfest between Josh Emmett and Michael Johnson.

Main will hopefully go into the championship rounds, Barboza says he's ready for a 25 minute war, but with him it could end at any point.

This and the ONE Championship event the next day means MMA Overload. Get your fight milk in.

Waterson vs KK will be good

5 out of the 6 main card fights are matchups I would call bangers and the main event is a BUH BUH BANGER. Gonna be a fuckin SCRAP

This will be a fun night of fights.

HOT DANG BOI
This card is STACKED. I guess UFC really wants to impress ESPN. This is almost as good as some of the better PPV. Rayborg in in the early prelim(cause he is against a UFC debuter I am assuming) which I know this is their strategy for trying to sell that fight pass.

Side Note: We need our MMA general thread back. Lots of MMA threads popping up lately. I want to see this one.

ugh so does that mean we are getting usman vs colby? ugh
I get that colby earned his spot but I don't care for the guy at all

My first thought was: "How is this gonna look any different than the Lawler figh?"

I can see it playing out exactly the same. Jorge rocking Ben early, Ben surviving, Ben gets a hold of Jorge and that will be a wrap.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pettis vs Lawler now, though

Lawler would smash Pettis

In like most of Lawlers fights. He gets knocked out to some degree at least once. He Zombies through it and gets wins. I imagine he would just run a train on Pettis though.

Random news update:

Jon Jones is teasing a fight with HW Stipe Miocic in July. "Heavyweight Superfight."

I kind of dig it. Let Santos destroy someone else in the meantime, have them clash after in October/November

Tried to feel out the MMA crowd and there wasn't as much attention or interest it seemed. The Conor retirement thread had a lot of "new faces" so I'll work on the GENERAL MMA OT unless anyone else wants to,

We can have all fight night events on the OT and new threads for just ppvs...

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Edson Barboza vs Justin Gaethje

David Branch vs Jack Hermansson

Josh Emmett vs Michael Johnson

Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs Michelle Waterson

Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Paul Craig (Lock)

Sabina Mazo vs Maryna Moroz (Lock)

I’m picking Gaethje and KK more on heart. If Gaethje loses, it’s going to be brutal. So I’m hoping he wins.

I think these would be my picks if I was putting money with the only exception being Josh emmett and Michael Johnson. My heart wants Barboza to win. I am also a fan. Barboza is that great gatekeeper I just want to see succeed but I won't blind myself on his limitations. I practice kicks during my training more because of his ability to be so effective.

Well, my head is leaning Barboza, cause Justin Gaethje refuses to use wrestling. Gaethje just happens to be one of my top 2 fighters.

Wow I did not see this coming. UFC matchmaking throws a curveball again and books Lawler - Woodley rematch

Thank god this isn't on ESPN+

WTH even is ESPN+?

I think it’s just their answer to the streaming market. DAZN streaming has boxing and whatnot so this was UFCs counter

In the main event, Edson Barboza (20-6 MMA, 14-6 UFC) takes on former WSOF champion Justin Gaethje (19-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC). Both fighters hit their marks at 155.5 pounds.

Two fighters took the two-hour window down to the last 10 minutes or so. Michael Johnson was the last fighter to weigh in and hit 146 pounds with the towel to hit the mark. But bantamweight Ray Borg was 137.75 pounds for his fight against Casey Kennney. Borg, a former flyweight, chose to stop cutting, even though he had an additional two hours available. He will forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Kenney.

Unrelated to rest of post: One of my forum theories just got proven big time

Wow.

https://www.mmafighting.com/2019/3/...annou-vs-junior-dos-santos-slated-for-ufc-239

Ariel Helwani claims that Askren/Masvidal isn’t official yet, according to his latest tweets, but that seems to be what the UFC is targeting

Also Rockhold fights on that card too.

Either way that card looks great so far, for sure

Anyway, can’t wait for the fights tonight and tomorrow

Holy fuck how is that arm not mangled. This is a pretty crazy grappling exchange

Aguilars face busted up

Now a one point deduction for second eye poke

Caught that in highlights, thought she escaped.

1st too close to call.
2nd Johnson
3rd... Damn

This is what happens when you throw a punch. Johnson lost a tooth.
