Hope for their sake Spiderman 2 isn't releasing that same month, otherwise Starfield is gonna get Horizon'd (which all things considered, still did quite well). But I get a feeling Spiderman 2 is a November release.

Also hope the game lives up to my expectations. The last footage in June looked very rough; the footage in the new trailer looked a bit better in terms of frame-pacing, but since they did the same thing the Forza Motorsport team did in the last direct, we don't get any direct feed gameplay making it hard to actually identify how the gameplay looks now. Guess we'll have to wait until June for that.

I did like the cinematic presentation of the main part of the trailer itself; does well to sell the idea of space and exploring it. One of the planets showed the player running along some of the local animal life, so it will be cool if we can see how different organisms go about their business in their natural environments, and not just necessarily existing for bullet fodder. Being able to observe that type of stuff was fun in HFW and it'd be cool to see Starfield build on that with actual organic organisms.

Welp, looking forward to the Starfield Direct, only a few months to go.
Eh, with Spiderman 2 only releasing on PS5 I don't think Starfield has much to worry about. PC release will carry Starfield. Also if Starfield is anything like Skyrim in terms of sales longevity, there will be a steady stream of buyers for a long time. Spiderman was a one and done for me. Skyrim I've played through over the years multiple times. Don't even get me started with mods.

I do also hope that it lives up to expectations, but unlike you I'm keeping mine tamed. I just want them to improve typical Bethesda graphics, which it seems they have, get the framerate right, the PC port right, and 100s of hours of play. The replayability seems to be built in.

I'll be playing via Gamepass and purchasing with the discount on PC. I need to "own" this game.

Well there we go. We can now all start betting about how much jank we should expect. I really hope it feels polished with the extra time and not like it is still coming in hot.
It’s gonna be buggy still I’d put money on that - just cus Microsoft is overseeing it doesn’t mean Bethesda is magically gonna start making bug free games

Honestly totally fine with it being a September release tho. Would rather the showcase come earlier - and annoyed Microsoft did that “in the next 12 months” bullshit, though I guess this is like 15 months so not that horrible, but still. It’s on top of the 2020 show of games that aren’t coming out for years… so I don’t trust their release windows.

Otherwise tho Sept is perfectly fine. I have all the consoles this year is stacked - Zelda, Redfall, FF16, starfield, Spider-Man 2 - best year in many years for games I’m interested in

It’s getting 9 or 10 scores regardless. Too much build up for it not to fail , platform centric sites/outlets will give it a high score regardless , we all know it.

On the flip side the game will be ridiculously nitpicked particularly by some of those cheesed off it’s not releasing on PlayStation.

I think the next 12 months was a nice way of saying “the only games we have that are ready to be shown”

Gameplay bits look Bethesda as fuck, which isn't a bad thing. Excluding FO76 (and to a lesser degree FO4) every one of their games looked impressive during their launch window.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
If it means the game ships with less bugs then I'm all for the delay.

That's the dream/hope.

Todd Howard spoke with the publication Telegraph when the topic of being an Xbox studio came up. According to Todd Howard, the ability to work on fewer systems will translate to a better product. There’s more focus on the particular hardware from Microsoft and it means setting the bar even higher. Also, the fact that Bethesda is directly connected to Microsoft may help understand the hardware when it comes to loading and fidelity.

“By focusing on those platforms, you get to lean in a lot on making it the best it can be for those systems.”

I'm stoked! Between Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and 4, I must have dumped over 1,000 hours into Bethesda games. I wouldn't be surprised if that was closer to 2k. These games are some of the best ever and I'm feeling confident that Starfield will be another all timer. Crossing fingers for the smoothest Bethesda release ever in terms of bugs and gltiches.

Both hands, all fingers... and toes

Fucking shit date assholes. What the fuck is wrong with these tards? First week of school for many colleges and public schools, right around the time that the first games for fall sports are played.
As a parent I am pissed because It will be very, very hard to sneak in the 100 hours it will take to beat this thing in. If my kid was older and into these type of games, I would be pissed that it is an unwelcomed distraction when kids are trying to get back into the swing of things post summer.

Ghost wire Tokyo, skylines 2, stalker 2 to name few additional games coming to gamepass this year. Then you have got redfall, starfield and forza motorsport. Starfield being Bethesda game is GOTY contender already.

Hi-Fi Rush
Ghostwrire Tokyo
Redfall
Starfield
Forza Motorsport

Quality and variety with brand new IP along with next gen only, that's what we purchased new hardware for.

STILL no gameplay beyond the small bit they showed us a year ago. This was supposed to launch last November and yet they’ve told us almost nothing about it. Just concept art, curated cinematics, and Todd Howard cheerleading.

It’s difficult for me to be hyped about a game when all I’ve seen is curated snippets.

They can delay it as long as it takes. I'd rather not have a Fallout New Vegas situation where I literally couldn't play the game for months because the deputy always got his head stuck in the staircase in Primm walking over some rubble. I restarted the game a dozen times before giving up and waiting for the consoles to get a fix. Will there be bugs? I imagine so given the scope and scale of Bethesda's RPGs and obviously I'd love to play the game sooner, but I'd rather play a more optimized and finished game. Given how long I've waited for Fallout in space I can wait a while more.
