Really impressed with the performance on PC. With all of the settings on max (even ray tracing) I got about 90+ fps during the first area. If I turn off RT I get 120 during intense bits or higher. With FSR 2.0 I get frames well above my monitor's refresh rate. Good stuff!

Graphic card?

Holy shit you can actually get stunlocked by the villagers. I was screwing around and got myself surrounded by 5 of them, and they just kept attacking me over and over. I couldn't escape. I actually like that, it makes things far more tense than the original.

downloaded it on PC to get around the horrible controls on console.

runs pretty well on my 3060ti.
with RT on "normal" I get between 60 and 80 fps without any reconstruction.
when using checkerboarding (interlacing) I get 90fps+

with FSR2 (which doesn't look that great here imo) I get around 80fps to 90fps

here are my settings, I didn't optimize much, so these might not even be optimal for my card.

Oh shit, just saw on Bawkbasoup's stream that there's another mode in the demo called Mad Chainsaw mode! Seems like it might be RNG if it triggers when you start the game.

Played. Its cool.

I mean, wasted more time running than fighting, which kinda felt like a good thing(feeling of getting corned). Give a few unnoticed kills. Noted that the animations for long distance enemies are reduced. DF guys will certainly not like the PS4 version.

If I can say something bad about this game would be that I did find Leon way too slow for my taste. But the atmosphere is godtier.

Does anyone knows how to change shoulder sides?

it's the animation. you often don't even notice a change from walking to sprinting because they "smoothed" everything to a point where your character feels extremely unresponsive, which is an issue with all the remakes so far.
I sometimes mash the sprint button because I don't realize my character is already sprinting.

which goes directly against how the original RE4 felt where every button press was super responsive and instantly gave visual feedback.
the visual feedback to your control inputs in this game is really bad imo, but that goes for all the remakes imo like I said

I was really excited for this but after playing the demo I'm somewhat let down. The gameplay feels more linear and scripted. The fucking upper floor to the clock tower collapsed on me. I mean, cool stuff, but why limit the playing field? That's what I liked so much about the old game, especially in that particular part.

I'm not getting any sound when playing, anyone else?

Edit: booted up a different game then went back and it's now working.

Huh

I'm honestly not into it so far. The camera feels way too close to Leon, like God of War or something. I feel like I have limited peripheral vision. I liked how readable all the environments were in the original. You could instantly see what you were able to interact with and different routes available like a Nintendo game almost. This feels like its sacrificing ease of play for visuals and art style. Not sure its worth the trade yet.

Just my first impressions. Maybe it'll grow on me.

It runs flawless on my I7 11700k and RTX 2060 graphics card (i disabled Raytracing though everything else is on max)

Performance seems a bit weird in the demo for me. I'm on a 2070S and Ryzen 7 3700x. FPS difference between everything low @ 1440p and everything max 1440p is like 12 fps No RTX. Some fps reporting oddities, too. The section before the huntsman lodge? Afterburner reports 52fps, monitor reports 104fps. Step into the lodge, both afterburner and monitor agree my fps is around 70. No idea what's going on there.

I'm on PS5. With a dualsense edge controller.

so I played it on PC and plugged in my Dualsense, and the deadzone there is way smaller than on Xbox.
I'll download the PS5 version later and compare there.

the deadzone on PC is actually pretty small, the bigger issue I found there is a sensitivity curve that seems to be extremely on the precision side of things.
your turn speed for like half the stick there is basically snail speed and at the last 20% it goes to overdrive.
so for like 20% of the inner stick you barely even move your aim at max sensitivity.

I assume you have to finish the demo at least once but other than that it's randomly triggered when you start the game. If this doesn't pop up then you can just exit to main menu and try again.

Good fucking luck. It's brutal!

Dualsense Edge allows you reduce the deadzone to 0% so maybe that helped because I didn't notice any deadzone on my DS Edge.

the deadzone of a game is entirely dependent on the developer, it doesn't matter what your controller is set to.
in apex legends my deadzone on a normal controller is so small that I can literally blow at my stick from the side to move the camera (I am not exaggerating btw... I tried that lol)

I'm not a tech whore, but it looked and ran great to my untrained eyes on PS5. Enemies and smarter and beefier, the Village is changed but it's in subtle natural feeling ways, like adding more paths from front to back. I will say that it plays enough like the original that I get thrown off after stunning an enemy and pressing X to run up and melee them, only to stand around like I'm touched instead because default controls are MODERNIZED. That and the new features take some time to incorporate into muscle memory, but it's neat as hell that these new options are available. Game is dripping with atmosphere, too.

How does it feel on m/k? I guess it could make it too easy, but if controller aiming is tjhat bad...

Remember how good Resident Evil 4 looked in comparison to everything else when it first release?
It just had that look, getting the same feeling here.

Yeah, this is legit one of those few Remakes that give me the "they remade this game in the exact image of what my imagination filled in the blanks for the technical limitations of the time with,"

This gives me that feeling of seeing footage from the OG for the first time.

feels good, doesn't feel OP because the game has weapon sway depending on the weapon and narrows your FOV extremely while aiming.
also you have reticle bloom and you got to wait a bit until you have perfect accuracy, if you move your aim too fast or shoot too fast you have random spray (which I am not the biggest fan of tbh)

I completed it on PS5, aim doesnt feel great. Usually I dont have trouble shooting with controller but it felt really weird in a bad way here.

Not sure I'll get this day 1 despite playing the OG like 30 times on the ps2. Still havent played RE2R, RE3R or village so I can wait for a sale (and for the VR mode)

Kicking a bunch of villagers with 1 kick will never get old though.

it's a combination of a big deadzone and a really weird reaction curve.

currently downloading on PS5, on Xbox it was basically unplayable, on PC it was way better, I wonder how the PS5 version will feel.
Xbox and PC clearly had different deadzones.

Yeah it's weird
It feels like I'm playing Resident Evil 4 for the first time.
The look & feel of it is just recaptured, I don't think a Remake has made me feel that way before.
Like you said it like seeing it for the first time.

This is really exciting. I am looking forward to it, RE4 is very near and dear to my heart and it sounds like they have done it justice.

Game feels sluggish as hell in resolution mode on PS5. played through again in framerate and it's pitch perfect. Feel like the gameplay needs a little love, or at least the default settings do. Hope this comes together on release day.

Downloaded the original. Its still 100% superior. I cannot believe how close the camera is in the new one. Movement also feels very sluggish.

People forget the original game was replayed 100x because it has flawless, fast pacing. The new one feels like a slog in comparison.

But yeah, I'll replay it a few more times and see if I change my mind. Its still fun but a bit weird.

RIDICULOUSLY BIG DEADZONE.

absolutely unplayable in its current state imo.
literally half the stick is just a deadzone and there's no way to adjust it.

how on earth did they push this demo out with these controls?

I gave up during the town fight, this shit is absolutely unplayable indeed.

and it's even worse when you played the original which has ridiculously precise aiming especially for its time.
it's literally half the stick that's a deadzone

imma download the PC version I guess and play with a mouse to get around this, but they can't release the game like this... like wtf?

this is worse than RE8, I also had my issues with that game on controller, but this? holy crap!
and hilariously, with the 3rd person DLC they massively improved the aiming in RE8, if you play in 3rd person the aiming controls were better than when I played through it in first person.

and now this... like wtf happened here?

how big is the deadzone on PS5? because that is a ridiculous statement to me coming from the Xbox demo where the aiming is so bad that it made it basically unplayable.
I'm not kidding when I say it's practically half the fucking stick

it is indeed, at least on Xbox, maybe they shipped with different settings for some reason on PS5?

so I played it on PC and plugged in my Dualsense, and the deadzone there is way smaller than on Xbox.
I'll download the PS5 version later and compare there.

SOOOOOOOOOO,

I now played all 3 versions, PC, Xbox SX, PS5.

the deadzone is way bigger on Xbox for some reason.
I am literally sitting on my TV changing outputs from PC, to Xbox, to PS5, to compare the different versions.

on PC it seems like a 5% deadzone, on PS5 it seems slightly bigger, like maybe 7%....
ON XBOX HOWEVER... 10% minimum if not 15%

and this feels exponentially worse due to the weird reaction curve.
it's a reaction curve that ramps up really slowly and then suddenly shoots to high speed at about 80% stick movement.

so you have a really slow moving aim at the center half of your stick, you barely notice it moving until 20% in, in combination with a deadzone that is not great at best and really bad at worst (on xbox)

to fix this entirely they would need to
A: give different reaction curve options like Linear and 2 different precision ones (best would be a slider but barely anyone does that)
B: add a deadzone setting that I can turn all the way to 0 if I want to
C: give options for how big the outer circle is where the camera suddenly shoots into overdrive.

I highly doubt that A and C will ever happen, but there is hope for B

Anyone else having their mouse cursor stuck in the middle of the screen? I'm using a controller on PC and the cursor doesn't go away.

PS5 version...demo is ok. Visuals are just there, dont pop at all. Aim is floaty as fuck and feels off to me, idk....got obliterated in the village, and it didnt feel like it was my fault. Was fighting the aiming the whole time. Not enough ammo either for a demo. Overall, not terrible but not great either.

Anyone else think there is literally no difference at all playing in resolution vs framerate mode? lol they looked identical to me and played the same

Just tried, extreme graphical errors. Its like a black halo surrounding leon. It will probably get fixed in a day or so, but as of right now, unplayable (unless you are cool with extreme graphical errors.)
I just ordered a Deck cause I won't have access to my PC/PS5 for a little while 😬.

Lets hope the full game patched up remedies some of these errors.

Didn't like the aim so much. I prefer the RE2 aim i think. The camera should less closer to Leon. A bit low on ammo but the point is survive and lose time like in RE8 Village in the ambush.
