How was the Grayson run by Tom King? I've heard mixed things and with that Omni almost out I need to decide if I should pick it up or not. Huge Nightwing fan and read the whole Batman Inc stuff that came before it. Also a big fan of 007/Spy stories.

Glad to see Valiant finally switching too sewn bindings for Bloodshot Reborn lol. That's another book I need to grab.

Kinda worried about Batman White Knight lol. The art alone makes me want to get it but not sure how Murphy is going to do with writing duties.

I heard nothing but good for Grayson it's a great series it's basically a grant Morrison comic filtered through a more traditional spy story

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
My birthday in 12 days 😏

What’s everyone’s best moment from a comic? Can be from any type of book. Thought it would be a good closer to this thread and a good opener to the next one.

I genuinely marked out when Peter took back his body from Ock, and makes a quip to the goblin about his man purse, and he replies "it's you"

Dan

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Ragman seems cool. I'll pick it up in trade.

Definitely need the Swamp Thing: The Bronze Age Omnibus. I've never read the pre-Moore stuff. Might want Kirby's The Demon collection too.

I'm behind on the trades, but I continue to love how the current TMNT pulls in the elements of the original Mirage run and the Archie run in cool ways. I'm looking forward to reaching this current arc eventually.

There's no way I could answer my favorite comic book moment. Too many comics stick out in my head for that.

Iron Man suiting up after being thrown out a SHIELD helicarrier.

Tim Drake beating Lady Shiva because he had super-speed.

Tim Drake outsmarting Ra's AL Ghul in Red Robin.

Superboy Prime losing his shit when Bart came back.

I've read too many freaking comics lol.

Do I need to read Hickman's FF? It feels like I do.

Also: I really, really want Hickman to write the Legion. Someone has to save that team.

Happy October! Thanks for the thread as always, Messi, Freeza, Launchpad, and anyone else involved.

This first week is going to be a drastic life change for me, and then the rest of October should hopefully be quite good. It’s my favorite month of the year, and Halloween is my second favorite day of the year (followed a week after by #1 my birthday on November 6th!).

I watch many Horror films, read Horror manga, and play Horror games this month, so I’m unsure of how many western comics I’ll read.

What Halloween or Autumn themed events are people going to this month?

Could have been mistaken, just remember seeing alot of mixed reactions here and other sites when the series was still on going. Its been a few years though.

Been rewatching Lost lately, cant believe I never noticed Paul Dini and Brian K Vaughn were involved with the show. On Season 6 now, then I start Buffy!

I didn't realize Punisher Platoon was coming so soon. That's great news. If it can stand with Born or the Fury series that Ennis did then it will be great.

Doesn't the new Kino anime start soon? LIFE-CHANGING.

Frank Cho's piece for the NYCC auction

I will be surprised if Messi doesn't leave with that Cho piece.

I'm always up for a new Punisher book.

I don't have a spare 5-6k lying around at the moment.

Beautiful piece, very similar to the variant. Almost as if it was a rough that he didn't use and decided to finish up.

Speaking of Cho, he posted a wip of the next Harley variant and I would buy one of DCs big statues of this in a heartbeat. His Harley covers have been so perfect.

That's not it, but Kino is one of the only anime I'd be willing to watch. I love the books.

Edit: Just watched the PV. Not loving the 3D animation, her look, or the poppy music. I hope the show does the last series and books justice.

is Nightwing great even if I don't care about Raptor? It's the only thing that's making me hesitate.
Raptor is only there for the first couple arcs (Better Than Batman and Rise of Raptor) which are only like 4 and 2 issues apiece. So basically the first trade. Raptor hasn't shown up since then
though it was recently revealed that he escaped from Spyral's prison
.
For anyone who's up to date on JLA...

Has Orlando gone anywhere with Killer Frost's "redemption"? I remember quite enjoying her one shot at the start of JLA and I hoped to see it develop a bit more as an angle for her character.
Yeah he's doing good work right now. The current arc is focusing on Ray Palmer.

Astonishing X-Men:

"Disappointed, Ms. Frost?"
"Astonished, Ms. Pryde."

I dunno if anyone here reads Trinity or even cares, but at some point next year (probably January), James Robinson and Patrick Zircher will be the new creative team.
This post, and Poodle's earlier post, are the only things reminding me that Trinity and Blue Beetle still exist.
Please don't do that lol. It's loosely related to Rebirth, but it's also bad lol.
The core event is, yeah. Only worth reading if you're going through all of New 52 Earth 2. A lot of the short stories were good. Nightwing and Oracle was fantastic.

One of the best Dick Grayson stories ever. Perfectly encapsulates and defines the character while sticking him in another genre.
Message Dan Slott got when he revealed that his cat was dying:

This post, and Poodle's earlier post, are the only things reminding me that Trinity and Blue Beetle still exist.

Poor Trinity. I was hoping Manapul would pull of something special, but it's been super inconsistent from a creative team standpoint and quickly became clear that he couldn't handle a monthly title with himself as writer and artist.

Curious whether Robinson will be able to make something good of it. Generally I feel like Batman, WW, and Superman are too played out, but I suppose there can still be good stories about the three of them together.

I get the idea of the book, but there's not anything a short arc in Justice League or a mini series can't accomplish that this book does.

Is Constantine still ongoing? I know Batman Beyond is.

Yup I think Seeley is writing it now but I don't know that for sure.

You know what would make Trinity a whole lot more relevant and important book? If DC would just take Batman, WW, and Superman off the JL and bring in some more obscure characters.

That's never going to happen.

Seeley on Constantine? Hmmmm maybe. The last couple Constantine solos (New 52 and DCYou) were not very good, and the Rebirth issue didn't get much praise.

That's what books like JLA are for. The flagship title will always have flagship characters. Sure you could swap some here and there (Green Arrow instead of Aquaman; Element Woman instead of Cyborg, etc.), but the cores will always be there.

Eh. I like the idea of a "Trinity" book infinitely more than the Boys' Club that was Superman/Batman. And Manapul's art was fantastic, he just wasn't the right choice for the writing. A real bummer, honestly.

Not sold on Robinson either, though Zircher is great.

He's on for a 3-issue arc, then Richard Kadrey is in for a 3 issue arc.Seeley's first issue was good, but I don't think the book is long for this world. the Simon Oliver run was pretty bad and for some reason i read all of it??

I only got into comics a few years ago, and I don't know what it says about me, but my favorite moment was when Daredevil got his ass beat.

The lead up to that reveal was so perfectly paced, that I remember my jaw actually dropping when he says "Try the red one"

I mean, this was a great moment. Still can't believe people have the nerve to diss Mark Waid. :p

I mean, Archie is still good, Daredevil was good, and I think Captain America will be good, but Champions has been a waste of opportunity from top to bottom. And Avengers has been an average run, like a Fabian Nicieza run: you know, the runs that aren't bad, but not memorable or groundbreaking.

I'd chock a lot of that up to Waid writing a lot of books at the moment. Plus I suppose the Champion's rubbed some people the wrong way (Haven't read it for art reasons). His Avengers run hasn't been stellar but that seems less like a writing quality issue and more of direction issue, from it being pulled every which way by event tie-ins.
