Will get both games but here's my rundown.

I love GT for the experience, the feeling and soul it has and just the way the present cars and emphasis the driving experience itself and the relation between a driver and his cars. They really have this whole cinematic approach that really appeals to me.

I love Forza for the community-driven approach they're taking giving players their own style to be represented well and categorized well. You can be a tuner, painter, driver and really enjoy the game the way you want to play it.

It's really hard to describe all and all properly and everyone has their own personal view on both games but nobody can denies that if you're a racing fan, right now is a really awesome time.

*I'm out*
This is probably the most civilized, well-thought out post we'll get in this thread.

Carry on. :D

I can't wait for both games, but I have to say after the letdown of GT on the PSP I am a bit wary of GT5 not living up to the hype. Also it better be one hell of a huge game considering this is turn 10's 2nd release of Forza this gen. If it's like last gen, Forza will have the superior driving model and better options to modify your car while GT will have a better car/track selection and probably a bit better graphics.

What do you mean by "driving dynamics"?

There's no sense that the cars weigh anything in the Forza demo video. They grip like crazy and then they simply break loose for no apparent reason. It looks like an algorithm.

im not really sure what's there to argue about here really.

Basically there are 2 kinds of fans here:
People who want the best sim racing experience, and people who want carporn. If you want to oogle over insanely gorgeous visuals you pick GT5. If you want the best driving experience backed with the best community integration you pick up forza 3. That's all there is to it really, no ?

Impressions from those who've played the game at various events seem to be exactly the opposite. I think the feeling of weight is what got the most praise.

We'll all know for ourselves in a matter of hours though!

I remember seeing in one of the threads a rather large checklist\run down of what each game has vs. the other. Should that go in here as a jumping off point?

By shepherding all of the console warrioring, chest-baring, screenshot nit-picking, trailer zaptrudering, laying-dicks-on-the-counter-ing in one thread, the official GT5 and FM3 threads shall be spared contamination.

Bring it to either of the other threads as of 10:45am PST today and you're done until New Year's. Unless you're a junior, in which case you'll be permed.

Toodles!

zaptrudering? :p

Yes. Confirmed on B3D.

GT5 ferrari vid = pre rendered using the engine
FM3 ferrari vid = replay mode

you'll have to excuse my ignorance but from what i can see FM3 looks to have additional AA in the same way the GT5 video has?

Only graphics can be compared right now (since the feature set of GT5 isn't known and Prologue is obviously limited in gameplay and online) and I think both GT5 Prologue and GT5 have the clear edge overall.

Car models in FM3 are very close to GT5 Prologue quality as far as exteriors go, but interiors aren't nearly as detailed as GT.

Lighting and reflections are much more realistic in Prologue.

Forza has more track detail since it's all 3D, but GT tracks still look more realistic, due to the lighting, while Forza tracks have a cartoon-ish look similar to GRID and NFS games.

Both run at solid 60fps.

GT5 Prologue renders in 1280x1080 while Forza 3 is 720p.

GT5 supports up to 16 cars per race and Forza 3 supports up to 8.

Little is the new Big
Thing is at Gamescom, nobody was changing anything they were all playing with racing line on and regular physics model and automatic transmission and all that crap. As far as I know when I was there I was the only one going in options changing everything while playing the game. Either way we'll get what we've been waiting for in a few hours so that'll help this discussion of comparing each game for sure :)

FM3 still have gorgeous cars.. I can not say the same for GT5 in your simulation/community experience.

Few issues ...

First both games fail with no weather currently or at least light rain...

Second issue I have is with FM3.... I swear in the Ferrari video from yesterday the tires are not totally contacting the pavement, its like they hover a few MM from the ground... that is EPIC fail right there.... maybe its the new tire deformation... so accurate its bordering on the cars hovering like Back to the Future 2 >:

Third is with GT5... who are we kidding that video yesterday was pre-rendered Bull.. it may have had in-game assets but there is NO way the game will look like that when all is said in done. It reminded me when they shows pics of GT3 way before PS2 came out... they aren't fooling me again..

I think I covered both... enough hate to go around boys..
Flying cars: turn10 keeps saying it was fixed, but I keep noticing it. Even in the 458 video like you said. I afraid it will be there once the game is released :(

GT5 ferrari video: I concur

well, it's easy supporting 16 cars when they're basically drones moving along the track.
Try doing that with AI :p

Also, someone post T10 twitter pics of interiors !

it looks good, but if you buy racing games just for the aesthetics of the cars and presentation, GT5 is the one to get. simple as that.

Well how about you make some comparisons instead of telling people they're dumb? :p

I think this thread is dumb honestly. Would have make sense after the two games releases + poll though.
