James Gunn Back to Direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Gunn apologized before he was hired by Disney, Roseanne somewhat apologized because she had to but hasn't done much to redeem herself since then either. Your comparison is about as shit as the Tucker Carlson one.
So apologies are all you need to gain redemption? What's has Gunn done to "redeem" himself? Stop posting sick ass jokes? Hurray?

How people present themselves publicly is not always inline with how they are internally, whether for good or bad. That's not an argument. It's a fucking fact.

So has their opinion on his actions changed? Or just their outlook for GotG3 profits? Did they even make a statement?

No idea. After Disney fired him GoTG3 went into development hell and then was apparently shuttered whilst they were trying to find someone to take it forward, I guess after a while they realised that, that wasn't going to happen and that they needed Gunn back.

Man, moviebob, Ellis, and Batista are going to be completely insufferable now. Still, nice to see Gunn back on Gotg and Twitter outrage thwarted even if it is the result of more leftist hypocrisy.

Sarah Silverman got a pass for her jokes. I don't know why they even fired Gunn. Dude worked for Troma and they should've known his sense of humor just based on that alone. Will he still do Suicide Squad 2?

Normally, I'm opposed to outrage culture, but the shit this guy tweeted really, and I mean really, didn't sit well with me at all. And for him to be part of Disney? I'm surprised at the about-face. Borderline shocked.

If he's back, fine, their choice, but now Roseanne has to be given a second chance. I think it's safe to say that pedophiles are worse than racists.

At the end of the day, joke or not.
It was just a tweet. If anyone gets upset over a tweet they need to re-evalulate their priorities in life.

Weird, it's almost like Disney is a corporation that only cares about money? But I was told they were out to push a radical agenda!

Good. I was hoping they wouldn't abide by their stupid "crucify anyone for anything they've done in the past" rhetoric. The GotG movies are both great and he's a big reason for that.

I'm glad GotG is going to get a proper third (and final?) installment since they're the best thing Marvel has by a WIDE margin, but I hope Gunn held out this long for a bigger paycheck.

Well then you can say the same thing about anything anyone says, written or spoken. You don't get upset over anything written or spoken?

Assuming it's less than 280 characters, of course.

Only if it impacts my life in some way like getting dumped. That’s a heartbreaker.

Well, if that's really how you're built, more power to you. But I don't think it's a realistic expectation for people to not react, even if only emotionally, to things they read or hear. That's kind of the point of communication in the first place.

That said, I'm not saying all reactions are reasonable or justified. But for me, as a father, yeah, I find no humor in what I saw of his tweets. Some of it actually pissed me off. You think that means I need to reevaluate my priorities, fine. I disagree.

Is it worth someone losing their job over though? It’s just tweets. In future if we get mind readers and you thought something mean like I wish I could knock the stupid out of them. Does that mean you should get fired?

I never said that. I said that forgiveness needs to be consistent, not convenient.

This is where I sit.

Some sort of reprimand, some sort of public service as restitution, I think that would have sufficed.

I think his old tweets were lame and cringe edgelord style. I understand Disney distancing itself from that kind of “humor,” but I think the firing was a mistake and the mistake has been fixed.

Imo of course

Didn’t you question him being part of Disney again in the first quote? Unless I misunderstood it?
Right. That's why I'm surprised. Considering that Disney's primary function is to sell entertainment to children, it seems a strange thing to backpedal on.

Until one considers the obviou$.

The obvious is that they hired him initially knowing his past. They could have chosen anyone else to write and direct the Guardian movies. They were fine with his apologies until they weren't fine with it despite him making two of their biggest films. Firing him was an idiotic knee-jerk reaction by an exec who thought he'd be applauded for doing so and instead was reviled.

The real surprise is the ones actually committing the crimes and are aimed at children haven’t been shutdown.

IE. Religion.

But hey let’s take all that anger out on someone tweeting.

I don't know if that's aimed at me specifically, but let me be clear:

I'm not angry. I didn't like his tweets, and lost no sleep over his firing, but I'm not about destroying the man's life. My only point here is, if he's a candidate for forgiveness, so is Roseanne.

The show has moved on since though so even if they backtracked in their minds re-establishing her would prove to be much more difficult.

Gunn had apologized before he was even hired by Disney.
He apologized before he was even hired by Disney.
Gunn apologized before he was hired by Disney
He apologized years prior to ever working on marvel movies.

Holy shit, the talking points. And you're wrong on every level. He apologized after being hired by Disney, and it wasn't about his twitter account where he liked to fantasize about raping little children. It was for his personal blog where he posted images of superheroes and then added personal comments.

He's still doing suicide squad 2, which isn't out until 2021. GotG 3 probably won't be out until like 2023 at the earliest.

This is the correct precedent to set. The day we stop giving a shit about personal tweets from a decade ago is the day we get a little better as a society.

I guess you're right about him apologizing at the time (he did apologize afterwards), but you make it out like he wrote child porn fan fiction. Mother fucker made some tastless jokes 10 years ago and you make him out to be a pedo because of the content of JOKES. Go look through the tweets and show me the ones that make him "fantasize about raping little children" like he's about to get off on it. I'll even provide a link to the worst ones.

Great news, no one else should do it by him, and lol at the fuckers who are going to get outraged over this. Hope this does't mean SS2 is a one-off for him at DC though.

Cool. Can we still get Suicide Squad 2?

SS2 by Gunn is still on, he's only doing GOTG3 after he's one with it.

Finally, i was about to unleash one of my bioweapons had they continued down the path of interfering with his work. Hate it when things like what happened to stan lee happen to artists, exploited dry and abused. You better be sure that deserves a special kind of price all its own. Lets see what can I get out of the lab to reward such rampant abuse.

it's out in the wild already good luck

Oh well, I was hoping they choose Taika Waititi to direct it.

Me too but I was told Taika turned it down out of respect for Gunn.

He was clearly their Plan A moving forward but he threw a wrench in their “moving on” process.

I know Gunn’s old tweets were gross but this is the right call.

You know, reality isn’t quite what you want it to be just because you scream loud enough. Sorry.

Enygger_Tzu Enygger_Tzu The great thing about the English word "pedophile" is that it only has one definition and that definition is as follows:

a person who is sexually attracted to children.

Now I'm sure that you Enygger_Tzu Enygger_Tzu a patron Saint of a person has never made an inappropriate joke about anything remotely taboo, but regardless of that you would still be wrong in your accusation!

Because nothing that Mr. Gunn has done has given any impression that he is in any way the description above...

He said no.

Going into something like that with his stamp all over his films, would be like going into someone’s house and saying ‘Hey, I’m your new dad, and this is how we make peanut butter sandwiches now. It feels kind of awkward.

Holy shit this is great. Been enjoying a nice bottle of red wine while browsing Twitter and the like and enjoying the tears of the salt-right.

I didn't really care about him getting fired in the first place tbh, but today has provided more entertainment than GOTG3 ever could.

T timberger lol salt right, funny word play...

That being said though I don't think the alt-right are the ones who have an issue with James Gunn

In fact, Even though it's started as an attack from the right In a bizarre attempt at revenge for the social media outrage culture, I would probably argue it's the Progressive side of politics who are whining and moaning about him being a supposed pedophile something he most certainly is not...

AKA the Twitter babies...

Or this is one case where both sides are equally at play.

This needs to become a trend. I second bringing back Roseanne's show and Danny Masterson in The Ranch.

Lol you’re either unaware of the facts, being manipulated by your alt right media sources, or both.

Why are you guys so obsessed and bent out of shape over the alt-right? Most of the complaints are about conservatives and not actual ethnocentric degenerates. It has nothing to do with them.

I wasn't expecting to see that.

Thinking about the implications, its a second chance. Wether you agreed with what he did or not, its interesting to see. Now will they rehire Roseanne? lol.

Its different.... James Gunn, they dug out something he did in the past as a stupid youth. Roseanne got canned for her actions while on payroll.
