Really don't know what to think about Yoshi's. Yesterday at COMG! Ishikawa they had some copies left, so within three days we should know going by MC numbers how it did. Speaking about sales, I would say a little bit under 50k. There's propably a Mario Party 10 situation here.

It will likely enjoy a bit of a boost from Obon and, oddly enough, any more legs on Splatoon as people who buy the console/game will be interested in more fresh software and Yoshi is cheap.

That said, this does bring up an interesting point. A lot of Nintendo's older franchises (outside of Kirby on the 3DS) are not doing as well as they once did or never did, really, but all the same they have some of the strongest, if not the strongest, IPs on the market today, many of which are actually "new" to either existence or just prominence. I wonder if moving forward to the NX we won't see a bit of a slow down on these older franchises, like Yoshi, in lieu of more spin-offs of the popular titles or just new games/IP entirely.

For instance, I expect Animal Crossing's next title to be at or near launch of NX. Fire Emblem's next title within a year or two. And so on.

Going by TSUTAYA ranking it was really a flop. Maybe 30k if it's lucky, damn!

Hope you are right and it has some legs for Obon.

Given the YSO predictions, 30k isn't unexpected. These types of software just don't do well unless its the holidays. See comparisons between Captain Toad and Kirby:RC.

30k is also about where YSO expected Batman...

I really can see Batman doing far better than 30k. YSO is not that good with western dev games, imo.

Just Amiibo and New 3DS faceplates top 10.
I'm sure the others accessories are tracked too, but is shared only for suscribers.

Yeah. Seeing Yoshi so low does make one fear that it will be a flop.
Lets hope it will surprise us... or at least sell in the long run

I'm going to bet between Yoshi's standard SKU and the SKU that includes the Amiibo, it'll sell around 45, 50k. Pretty bad, but it didn't seem to be a very high-budget or heavily-marketed game either.

And regarding Touch Battle Tank 3D sales: All I know is the first hit 100,000 well over two years ago but I guess that doesn't help much now!

Would not be far from Yoshi’s New Island's opening.... which was also pretty bad

I don't think Yoshi was ever a strong franchise, really. Its a budget franchise with friendly aesthetics but its old and worn. I think he needs to be retired from stand-alone games, honestly.

Captain Toad is a much more fresh spin-off IP and ISN'T a 2D platformer.

Hm, wonder what still moving hardware means.

Since it's baseline without splatoon was like 4-6k, it could be
- Wii U hardware is still decreasing at 1-2k per week. Still counts as "moving"
- The hardware finally held
- The hardware went up.

I'm tempted to go with option A since I'm pessimistic but it's a holiday too apparently...

Such a thing, whether or not planned, would take time to materialize. You can't just snap your fingers, hire an animation studio, and produce an anime.
