No Doraemon love? Believe!

Completely forgotten in this week's charts are Disk Wars, Touch Detective, Elminage Ibun and that MTO runner game that I've forgotten the name of and Nintendo forgot to give a Miiverse community to. Harsh!

This week's Famitsu has an ad for Kiniro no Corda 3: Full Voice Special coming to 3DS on 26 February. Another PSP game moving to 3DS

Captain Flop getting destroyed by CoD in Japan? whaaaaa

CoD AW is down quite a bit sales-wise over previous entries if you read through the thread, so it was expected that COD would be the top title. Captain Toad is a budget game starring Toad... what exactly were people expecting? It'll have legs thanks to the holidays I presume.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

What's with Koei Tecmo starting bringing titles like Kiniro no Corda and Atelier Rorona on 3DS? Why now?

Kiniro no Corda is also another laaaate port, isn't it?

Also, looking at those numbers, and the current YTD disparity Y/Y... it's looking more and more likely that 2013 was the peak year for the Wii U... :/
I'd laugh if it wasn't so unbelievable.

At least USA sales are going to make up the difference!

Though this pretty much means WiiU's peak year is going to be only a little higher than last year before it falls completely off the map.

People think this and last year were bad? Wait until next year after every possible software increase is gone barring Zelda.

I didn't know the Japanese buy that trash is all. I thought they were better than that, but they're just as bad as Americans :(

Mario Maker has potential to raise sales.

Yeah it will be sad, but probably not as much as PS4 sales in Japan next year.

I'd smack the crap out of you if it wasn't for the Amy avy.

This is a country that sells young teen/child molestation games.

I expect PS4 to nearly double WiiU's peak year. Which is still mind numbingly awful.

Huh what? Japan buys thrash games all the time. Wonder when Konami will be simply Kojima productions they can't keep making PES forever.

Hatsune Miku is awful for sure, but it's definitely more enjoyable than CoD at this point. Now all I need to see is next week AC Poonity top the media create and I'm done with the Japanese.

Searching a bit, I found that KnC3: Full Voice Special has already been released on PSP back in 2013. Isn't that correct?
Yeah, it's a port of the PSP game which was released last year. Two new titles from the Neoromance series have already been confirmed for Vita during SCEJA Press Conference 2014, so it's definitely not "another PSP game moving to 3DS" situation which BriBri seemed to be excited about.

Was La Corda d'Oro confirmed for PSV as well?
No, but La Corda d'Oro 3: Full Voice Special is one of the many titles under Neoromance series, and two new Neoromance titles have been confirmed for Vita.
http://koei.wikia.com/wiki/Neoromance_series

Wha? It's a PSP game and it's moving to 3DS.
"Moving to 3DS" sounds to me like the series is moving forward from PSP to 3DS, but that's not the case, at least not yet. It's just a port of an old game.

Semantics! If Sonic Toon is released on the 3DS next year but 3DS gets a new version of Sonic Generations then Sonic Toon has moved to Vita.

Why are you saying so? Do you think PS Nova will bomb?

I only know it won't sell 600k as PS sold on PSP back in the day, considering the top seller game on Vita didn't even reach 400k
FW numbers (200k) would be good, GE numbers would be excellent, everything more than that is just impossible
but someone here still wants to comprare it to PSOP just to say "bomba"...

Too bad there's no chance of localisation for Kin'iro no Corda 3, unlike Hakuoki (which already had a translation). I rather enjoyed the very first anime, a few years ago.

Someone who, exactly?

Also, PS Nova is clearly a game that should aim at becoming one of the best-sellers on the platform. Its scope and importance in PSV ecosystem (given also how popular the IP was on PSP... Which doesn't mean Sega should expect the same sales, of course) are such that if it is going to sell less than 400k it will not be that good.

Top seller on Vita reached 400k and it will become obvious why third party Japanese companies don't want to invest on high profile games if Nova fails to top even Infinity sales.

I don't think that's right. I don't see the correlation between those two things.
Did God Eater 2 prove that they could invest on high profile games? It's a multiplatform game with over 400k sales at retail on Vita.

Third parties will never invest on those games on Vita. PSN bombing or selling 500k would change nothing at this point because it's not like there has been a series of major bombs on Vita, and the only "big" game released there had good sales.

Dengeki closer to MC, but still a bit off it. Famitsu more the odd one out on 3DS sales.

I think there was a break down of the number of stores each covers a while back, but not which chains etc. these were. Would be interesting to see.

God Eater 2 showed there is a market for this kind of games on Vita. The existance of Nova only for Vita was because Sega saw potential. If sales were big more support would come. Third parties will invest where they see they can profit.

If sales of Nova were big, those potential games from third parties who saw the light that day wouldn't come out until ~12-18 months later at the earliest. And 12-18 months from now Vita will be dead. That's why I said it doesn't matter how well/bad PSN does now.

No one jumped on Vita with a big game when GE2 showed that there was a market, because if they did, it would have been announced by now.
And most likely, Phantasy Star Nova exists because PSO2 was a success

What I'm trying to say is that Vita had little chances to prove itself and it did okay most of the times, in my opinion, but it never gained enough support to keep the system going in a bigger way. There were better systems for third parties and other interests for Sony. How well or bad PSN does this year will have little impact on the future of the system.

Only a Monster Hunter/Yokai Watch phenomenon would change the amount of support.

As bearish as one should be about the PS4's potential, I don't know what you're smoking if you think the Wii U has better prospects in 2015.

Same. I really love the lineup that is coming in 2015, but the best chances to sell wiius were/are in 2014 with Mario Kart and Smash. Nintendo is riding it out now, while still making their userbase happy (zelda that was promised, some old comebacks, some new experiments, some big stuff, etc). They know it won't really sell, but won't do like Sony is doing with the Vita.

Nintendo didn't use the price drop yet. Sure it won't change the story but could, coupled with a key release, positively impact sales.
