The Tribe Has Spoken
My non-controversial gaming opinion is that anyone who thinks Zelda: BotW is “dogshit” should give up on video games.

That’s a wrap.

Uncharted 4 was boring. Not a bad game by any means but dose not deserve the master piece it got and how dare you give Uncharted 4 a 9 out of 10. If I was a game reviewer I would be worried to give my honest opinion on the game after seening the playstation fanboy fanaticism.

Firewatch didn't have 1 redeeming quality. The game was broken up into days making it difficult to create any momentum when playing or immersing yourself in the world. The world was not as interactive as I would have liked. The radio chatter in story mode was incredibly annoying and did nothing for me. The animations were basic, the jump animation looked like Heavy in TF2 but at an alpha stage. The main story was boring...
Firewatch was probablly the biggest waste of a game I have ever played. I felt robbed after playing that game.

Witcher 3 is trash. I respect everything that it accomplished and the work that went into it, but as a game I hated every single hour of my 100h playthrough. Just seeing Geralt in the new soul calibur makes me wince for example... I wish I got my time back.
Really excited for cyberpunk though.
What did you not like about it? Just curious.

He had a long history of being a thief

His job was about writing his own shit

so if anything he was a dumbass and thief and we were to hard on him guys ok /s

Stealing is a crime where the victim is losing something valuable from possession. Plagiarism is copying someones work. What Filip did was wrong and stupid but it is not a crime. I've read it in the article about plagiarism.

I also want to point that video game notes, comments and reviews are product of very low value.
Even if he would plagiarise someones novel, music, investigation, scientific research it wouldn't have as harsh consequences as Miucin have. Usually people who caught on plagiarism save the job and have a chance to clean their names.

For example, when Melania Trump speechwriter plagiarised Michelle Obama's speech, she didn't lose her job and wasn't publicly humiliated.

I believe that IGN workers and youtube bloggers have a serious inferiority complex. Those amateurs want to be and act like a real professionals but they aren't. IGN and youtubers thought that they are doing what professionals should do, but in reality they have overblown the situation to absurdity. It was harsh and barbaric reaction, like cutting someones hands for stealing an apple.

I'm not defending Filip, he should be embarrassed for what he did, but he shouldn't be fired, intimidated by angry internet crowd and feel insecure about new job opportunities. It is crazy.

Serious question: Are you Filip Miucin?

I'm trying to stop cyberbullying. While it is something what Miucin would want, we aren't the same person.

Fun fact, I've never heard about him and the channel where he plagiarised the content, before it become the "Breaking News" of the internet.

Nah I think he should. Maybe we need a poll or not! It is your opinion but I think he did deserve to lose his job for being a plagiarist for years.

I think people forgot about him already until somebody else brings him up.

I don't think this is controversial. The game actually seems pretty much universally hated outside of Sony cult followers. The gameplay in it is terrible. Well, not so much terrible as it is non existent.

Shovel Knight's status both as a game and character is completely unwarranted. It's basically being treated as the second coming of indie games and indie characters. Time is not gonna look back fondly at all the gushing about this character being playable and having cameos in so many different games and even as an assist trophy in the Smash Bros series. Mark my words.

Totally agreed. Game is as boring as shit and it's an aesthetic mess. It doesn't look like a NES game, and it doesn't look like a Genesis or SNES game. What it looks like is shit. I really don't understand the adoration.

Hollow Knight, Guacamelee, etc. are actually good games. Shovel Knight? Yuck.

I’m only gonna post one controversial opinion (for now). I just played Far Cry 3 for the first time and I really didn’t like it. It felt like a bare bones open world experience.

I'll try to keep it short: far too long and boring.
-The main quest chain was a giant princess is in another castle parody. Could not believe it.
-I couldn't get attached to any character. Their looks, their quest lines, their voice-overs etc. Everyone seemed dirty, diseased and drunk.
-Everybody knows about the combat. Had to start a new playthrough of bloodborne right after just to fall in love with videogames again.
-To me it had no interesting open world systems that stood out from the rest. Like you can't have fun in it like you would in a GTA or MGS5 for example. The world building and amount of work is commendable of course but if I can't connect with the universe then it just bores me.
-Everything is so damn SLOW. Walking, running, horse mounting, useless alchemy, consulting the menus non stop, reading bullshit you'd forgot the next minute, following glowing trails non stop etc etc.

I like Deus Ex not the Witcher so....

The "you" in my rhetorical question wasn't aimed at you. It was in general.
Either way, when someone says that The Witcher games (or Dark Souls, for that matter) are "the best games ever made", I just assume they haven't being gaming for long.

I agree on The Witcher 3. That shit bored me to tears, and was clunky as fuck. I’d rather play Dynasty Warriors. That being said, the world building and lore seemed quite good. Better fit as a book IMO (I know there’s books).
Catherine is on of the best Puzzle games out there. To me it's much better than Portal.
THANK YOU
Holy shit somebody else doesn't like the best game ever made?
Is it possible to not like Persona 4 Golden? Only a monster ...

Metroid: Other M actually had a good story that focused on why Samus was fighting, and explored that she wasn't this static, heartless protagonist. She was instead a brave person with a big heart and cherished her loved ones, and didn't want to see them be put through harm. I feel like everything could be explained well if the game was given enough of a chance to do so.

The voice, Jessica Martin, was extremely good in the role, being stoic when she needed to be, and then turning up the emotion when it called for it. Also, I thought the friendship between her and Anthony was one that I really liked. You could tell he called her "Princess" out of friendly affection, and she understood it. The two characters had awesome chemistry, and I wish we could see that relationship be explored more, and some of the plot points explored more in the future Metroid games. Sadly, the game did get a bad start because everyone had their own thoughts of how Samus should be, and didn't want the game telling them THIS was who Samus was, but they misunderstood the game's portrayal of her, believing that she was being lessened to a yes woman, when it was just shown that she has flaws, too, and that she isn't a perfect person, but she fights and is brave because she NEEDS to be.

In the end, I think it was supposed to be showing us about the saying that courage is doing what you must do even thought you're scared of doing them.

Were I to compare games to movies in a video rental store:

Nintendo are the kids movie and TV section.
Sony and Microsoft are the blockbuster movie and TV section.
PC is the porn fetish movie section. You'll only feel shame entering, especially when you have to give the rent ticket to a female employee.

Shenmue was always an overrated piece of crap. Boring game with bad writing and terrible controls. If it had been released by some no name developer, it would have been shit on and forgotten about by now.

You need to be really careful with Sega and Nintendo games, because both have a cult following them that's willing to prop up almost any turd.

ND's best games has a number two at the end.
Uncharted 2?
Crash Bandicoot 2?
Jak II?

It would be interesting to go through this thread and count the number of times each game got an "I don't like this" post.

It's long been going on long enough I bet you could get a statistically valid number for a lot of games, although deciding what that number means and where to apply it would leave a lot of room for creativity.

DLCs are not a bad thing. If i enjoy a game i'll want more content for it. And i don't expect eternal support for free.
It's ok to make a DLC alongside the main game to be released post launch since these things can take a long time to make.

Of course DLC isn't bad thing. I loving the amount support Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is getting. The problem comes when base game feels incomplete and they try make up for it with DLCs.

There's nothing wrong with owning a Xbox one, there's a just as amount of games as there is on PS4, and I would take Halo over any shooter that isn't Doom

Story and narrative in videogames are hugely overrated, especially when they're tacked to a game with mediocre controls, mediocre mechanics, and/or technical issues. I wouldn't tolerate a book that randomly papercuts me while reading. I wouldn't watch a show that inserts painful screeching at random intervals. Yet, gamers tolerate such crap for the sake of a "good narrative".

Gimme solid controls and lean content any day of the week.

I know most gamers hate slow moments and they want none stop action. I in other hand love slow moments in my games.
I love in Last of Us Joel and Ellie walk around and having conversation after intense encounter.
I love in Catherine, Vincent goes to bar to have a drink with his friends after intense Nightmare stages.
I love in Shadow Of the Colossus you have a nice time riding your horse to get to your next Colossus.
I love in ICO when you save you can just take your time sit with Yorda before moving on.

Final Fantasy V is the best one, FFVII is just good and nothing really special, and FFXII should have set the standard for the gameplay of the series.
Man, I probably sound hipster as fuck right now, but I'll still stick to it after having completed every single game in the FF series.

My controversial game opinion: the new Mario was boring as hell. In fact I'll go even further and say I enjoyed and will remember ZombiU on WiiU far more than time spent with the new Mario or Zelda.

What about someone who thinks BotW is overrated? Asking for a friend

Then ask your friend why he/she should care about other people liking the game more than him/her? That basically what overrated mean. someone personally didn't like the game that means others shouldn't praise it.

Overrated means people won't shut up about it. A few other games have been there too like Skyrim and Dark Souls.

So.....they can't talk about the game they like? Should I get irritated every time people talk about the games I personally don't like and yell "overrated" just to make myself feel better?

Over-rated just means a large group of people like something, but you don't think its as great as everyone says it is. I agree though Skyrim is pretty over-rated.

Sure they can but if everyone does it then they should expect to hear how it's overrated.

It's simple. Two people have opinions and both people get to speak them.

I still prefer Doom's gameplay, but these games were SO good. The world-building and storytelling is incredible.
I think Doom 2 was maybe the best Doom game, but Marathon games had liquids you could swim in, aiming up and down and using mouse and keyboard. And that was almost of un-heard of at the time. The Gfx also were a lot better then Doom games.
