Hey, Streetcarp here (Deftones Fan!)

Posted here many many moons ago (joined in 2006/7ish)...caught a perma arguing with Dax I think 5 or so years ago.
Still read GAF religiously and re-joined after the fiasco cleaned up the place.

I was a 'hardcore' gamer up till around 2016. I'm 40 so I've been obsessed since I got a Vectrex. Left console gaming from 2001-2006 to play BF2 and Anarchy Online. Skipped 360 and was a hardcore PS3 player then PS4.

I'm blue collar middle class as it gets white dad.

Hello everyone, Chilleverest here, and you are listening to Radio New Vegas, yeah im taking over.

Jokes aside, was a long time lurker like many here. Really happy to be the part of this community. Looking forward to the fun times ahead.

Hey grumpy gamer here (the name comes because i am a huge fan of marcus beer, maybe you will get the association ), been on gaf reading posts for many years now, but only now has my account been approved.
been a gamer all my life both pc and consoles, hope to contribute to gaf a bit, and hopefully lose the junior member status so that the mod team doesn´t have to approve everything xd

Hi my name is Dan I am from the UK, I work in admin / IT. I have just recently been accepted to the site for which I am very grateful, so to whoever enabled my profile thank you it is very much appreciated. I am here in the hope of getting to know new people who have similar interests whether it be gaming or talking about the newest star wars movie.

I have been gaming since the days of the Sega Master System right through to the Dreamcast, I was always a Sega guy right through to when the original Xbox came out, since then I have stuck with the Xbox, I have an Xbox One X now which I am loving, it is an amazing little console.

Also Dreamcast 2 Believe it and it may come true.

Hello all.
A story I enjoy telling people is in my teens I once downloaded a copy of Bible Black. I then gave this copy to a girl I had met a day prior, simply because she hadn't heard of henti.
I thought it would be funny.
Eight years later we are deciding when to start thinking about having kids.
To this day, I still think it's funny.

A bit about myself...
I long for a day when people are terrified to socialise with one another in public. The reason for this is because I fucking hate going shopping in Morrisons. I hypothesise that this fear will allow me to move around the shopping aisles faster without people getting in my way.

I also hope playing online with Sony will go back to free.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Play Game. You can call me mmorg. Well you know what kinda games I love. I'm a console player, because I lost my gaming rig ( got stolen) 3-4 years ago and couldn't afford a new one. I'm happy that he didn't steal my console too ^^. Warframe is hell in which I love to get burned out.

It's really good to see quite a few new people posting in this thread,

It's also good to see some longer term members posting too, most of us may not anybody else on here but just getting a few bits of information from people seems to move away from people just being completely anonymous avatars in some cases. Looking forward to seeing the even newer members in here when ever they arrive.

Loved reading a lot of the intros here.

Been here since '08, have a job that I love going to every day, still play video games (though my backlog is huge), love to draw/paint, and best of all... I love to laugh a lot. My participations in forums isn't what it used to be, but I'm still reading every day!

Greetings everyone.
As my username says, I'm RokkanStoned, a play on the Tool song "Rosetta Stoned" (which obviously is a play on the Rosetta stone and being "stoned") and the pretty famous Norwegian political scientist and historical sociologist, Stein Rokkan ("stein" means rock, the "Rokk" in Rokkan is pronounced like rock in a british accent), most famous for his work on cleavages and party systems. I'm from Norway and I've been casually reading GAF since about 2013 (and really perplexed by the GAF exodus, though perhaps not, considering the ego some had. Glad it has helped the environment here quite a bit though).
I work as a teacher, but got a master's degree in history and a bachelor's degree in political science. Wrote my master's on the subject of forced minority assimilation and the state. My specialization focuses around political history, with most of my work centering around persecutions.
Politically I'm rather flexible, though I tend to vote for right wing parties the last few years, mostly due to tactical voting and because the party I've historically been most aligned with, Venstre (a center, center-right party), has a total identity crisis. The kind of issues I care mostly about is free speech and the opinion corridor being widened, other than that I like entertaining ideas from across the left-right-spectrum or listening to arguments made by people from both sides of the spectrum. I find the current political climate in the US very interesting and amusing, while also disliking the polarization greatly in regards to what it does to society.

Hobbies are varied (draw, paint, languages, design, writing, music, travel, hiking, photography, etc), but gaming is a pretty big one, with most of my playtime being spent on the Soulsborne series and Counter-Strike nowadays. I own all the Nintendo and Sony mainline consoles and handhelds, but my biggest love has been my Vita - although I'm pretty happy having gotten a Switch to function as a sort of replacement/addition. Can't name a favorite game (too many in the running), but the JRPG series Shadow Hearts is a definitely underappreciated classic.

Hello I'm new to this so here goes, I love laughing, going out and staying in, taking long walks in the park and on the beach at sunset, watching movies and going to the pub on Sunday for roast dinner, My friends (and family) are really important to me, My life is fab. I just need a video game discussion forum to share it with.
In seriousness though as someone that had always been put off by the "cliquishness" of this site I'm quite looking forward to seeing how this develops. It seems like nowadays everybody is at one another's throats so it's great to see a site that seemed almost defined by that sort of hostility taking a step forward from such pettiness. It leaves me feeling quite optimistic which is all too rare recently.

I look forward to disagreeing with many of you about video-games and adjacent moving forward.

Hello everyone and welcome new members! I'm Battlechili. I'm an old semi-regular member, having been here since 2014/2015, but as I've never properly introduced myself in an introduction topic before, I figure I'll say hi for anyone who might not know me as well as for all the new members.

I'm a college student currently pursuing a Computer Science degree in the hopes of someday making my way into the game industry myself! My fascination with gaming has been around ever since I was 4 years old, when I got my first ever video game. The title in question was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and I quickly found myself captivated by its large world and sense of adventure. Since then, I've been playing games since with no end in sight, and I have only been enjoying games more and more. While Zelda was my starting point, I specifically really adore JRPGs above all else, although I do branch out a bit, with my favorite games being the criminally underrated Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (seriously, play this game), Nier, Cave Story, and any 3D Zelda. While originally I started out on console, these days I almost exclusively play games on PC, although you might still find me every now and then pulling out a handheld.

Beyond video games, I'm also a bit of an animation fan. I love seeing drawings come to life on the TV screen, moving about and allowing a sense of creativity and wonder not possible in normal film. It brings a smile to my face. While I especially love anime, I can appreciate just about anything animated as long as its good. Just some of my favorites include Gurren Lagann, Madoka Magica, and the underated French show, Dofus: The Treasures of Kerubim. Beyond all that, I'm also a bit of a furry embarrassingly enough (if you couldn't already tell from my pushing of Solatorobo). I'm a sucker for anything that has animal characters. In any case, its a pleasure to meet you all and I hope you enjoy Neogaf!

Welcome!
I imagine being a fan of MMORPGs and primarily playing on consoles can be fairly limiting since they're traditionally a PC thing. Do you play FFXIV: ARR by any chance?
Utada Hikaru is my all time favorite artist.
Also welcome to you! However, I have but one question, and the answer is of the utmost importance:
Simple & Clean or Sanctuary?

I’m a veteran, spent 6 years in Germany and close to year in Kuwait in the first Gulf conflict, became pretty disillusioned after that experience, had a drinking problem and lived very hedonistically up until I was 35 when my son was born, and now I’m a pretty functioning dude!

Currently playing:
Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer
Kameo Elements of Power
Halo 5 multiplayer
Darksiders Warmastered thingy

I’m a big Halo fan, been on the forum about 7 years now I think. I’d like to welcome all the new members with a solemn promise not to be a jerk. 😂

Hello there. Long time lurker here. I'm a 29 year old electrical engineer from Turkey. You can tell from my avatar and username that I'm a fan of OG Dragonball and One Piece. I had played on my Xbox 360 for a long time until I switched to PC. I mainly play strategy games (Total War) and RPGs/ARPGs. I used to have a huge time to sink in those but life took over and I can only entertain myself for a couple of hours a day at most with games. I'm looking forward to have an active engagement with Neogaf's high quality userbase.

Hello all.

Age: 35
Country: Finland
Gaming history: Started with Commodore 64, Philips Videopac (Magnavox Odyssey2 in the US) and electronic games like Game & Watches and their clones. Then got an NES and 386 PC. Then bought the first PlayStation. Lost my interest in new games somewhere around the beginning of 2000's. The PS2/Xbox/GC/DC era is still the least interesting era of video games for me. Wii Sports brought me back. Played a ton with the Wii U. Currently I have no interest towards PS4 or Xbox One or the Switch. I have a huge backlog of Steam games.
Favorite game of all time: La-Mulana
Favorite music: Heavy metal (thrash metal being my favorite subgenre) and 80's pop. Favorite bands and artists include Tourniquet, Megadeth, Michael Jackson and Army of Lovers. I love California Dreamin' by The Mamas & the Papas and Barry McGuire and whoever else recorded it, and I have a soft spot for some other 60's pop and rock songs too. I love Black's Wonderful Life.
Job: Video editor. I went through a film school and came out as an editor. I have just a few projects going one every now and then so it's not really bringing much food on the table, so I'm usually depending on the safety nets provided by the country.
Hobbies: Making music. I play guitar a bit and would love to play heavy metal, but because I'm too stubborn to learn playing the guitar any better I'm more into making synth music on my computer. I made my first physical recording (self-published on vinyl) in 2016. It's one of my dreams that I was able to make true. Another dream is to make my own video game. I'm currently working on one game that I would hope to release on 2019. I've been learning to use Unity by doing some yet unreleased stuff for a game my friend made and which became pretty popular.
Avatar: It's from Gogo the Ghost on Commodore 64. Amazing game!

Hi, I’m Scopa. It means “broom” in Italian and I think that’s pretty apt after what happened. Sweepin’ out the trash and all that.

Anyway, like many others in here, I’ve been gaming since the Atari 2600 and owned almost every major hardware since then. Still own, in most cases. I also love my PC gaming, in the years when my PC is up to date. I play great games regardless of what system they are on, but I do have a very special place in my heart for a lot of Nintendo games.

I obviously love gaming, but also love reading, music, playing guitar/writing songs, (great) tv shows & movies, drinking with friends and building arcade cabinets (in recent years).

Add me to the list of the people that are very happy with this forums recent return to the normal world. Where people can be themselves (within reason) and not fear any unsolicited and unwarranted retaliation. Where discussions are two-way and open-minded. You know, like normal people. Like real life.

Glad to meet you all and I sincerely look forward to getting to know a lot of you and contributing towards this forum being an open and welcoming community for all the nice people out there.

P.S. Can anyone guess where my avatar is from. Hint: An underrated gem of a game.

Greetings, everyone!

My name is Daniel. I'm 36 years old. I've been playing games nearly my entire life. Currently playing Xbox One X, Switch, PS4 Pro and Vita. Would be playing on PC as well but I'm looking to shrink its size down from a hulking desktop to a much smaller box so it's currently out of service until I do.

I used to post over at GameSpot (nyc05) for many years but the last several years just weren't very fun over there so I haven't been involved there in quite a while. As a GAF lurker of a few years now I'm very happy to be able to join your great community. I look forward to the journey. Happy gaming!

Hi everyone. I have lurked this forum for over a decade I believe and have never made an account. I feel like I know some of you really well and have seen a lot of the drama that has taken place here. I was pretty sad about the recent exodus that took place here, but I am really liking the direction this forum is going now, especially after seeing some of the recent "controversial" discussions. I actually am a liberal, but my views can be.. not so liberal at times. This forum seems much more open to differing opinions now and allows for real dialogue to occur. I think it's great.

I'm a 35 year old male living in the Kansas City area and work in performance improvement for a large nonprofit. I've been gaming since Atari and currently own a PS4, XB1, and an Alienware. Pathetically, the only PC gaming I play is the Sims lol. I'm a fighting game fan (Injustice 2) and love solo adventure games (Zero Dawn, Last of Us, etc.). I can't promise I'll be the most talkative person on this forum (lurking is just my style), but I'll try to contribute here and there. It's great to be an official part of this community, though.

Hi.

I've lurked but never bothered to try signing up for a few years. Completely missed whatever happened in October, but the place does seem calmer.

I mainly play Nintendo games, and nowadays don't have much time to venture out from them. I do love a good game of Battlefield (currently on Battlefield 1) every now and then. Recently it's just been Splatoon, Zelda and ARMS though.

Outside of gaming, I love swimming, running and trying to learn foreign languages (very badly).

I hope I don't end too big a pain in the arse.

Hello there, been wanting to join Neogaf for years but never had a good opportunity until now, here's hoping we can have many good discussions about games and things.

My username by the way is an Americanized version of the name "Jean Lu Picard" from Star Trek, because I find that funny.

Hi everybody,

I'm just letting people know that there was another large influx of Neophyte members authorised last night so we're now running at about 700 new members over the past 48 hours. A very warm welcome to all the new members as well as everybody else who's posting in here, it's really good to learn a little about you all. There's been some really positive posts from some of the newer members across the forum, which I'm sure we're all pleased to see as it's that sort of thing that is the strength of a community like this.

I'm sure that most of the new people already have, but if not, it may be worth you starting from the first post as I've included some links that I thought may be useful to newer members. It's also probably going to be worth checking back some time as I'll add more when it's needed.

I think it's worth reminding people that we're all new to this new platform (XF 2.0) and it is very much still a work in progress, there are a lot of pretty big ideas being discussed at the moment and please do feel free to add your own in the feedback thread that I've linked to in the first post. :)

Also, I guess I should add a few details about my tastes as a gamer.

I'll play just about anything although I really care nothing about sports or racing games, I'm also not crazy about the online shoot 'em ups like Call of Duty, but it's not like I refuse to play the, it just depends.

As far as western and Japanese games go, I lean towards Japanese, some of my favorite series are Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Resident Evil, but there's plenty of western developed games I love as well, my time is also split about 50/50 with current games and old school ones.

My most recent purchase has been a Nintendo Switch, very excited about that one.

Hello. I am Corrik. Real name is Mike.

I have frequented video game forums for years. Not sure if we can outright say which. I did have an account here before, but I think after awhile of not remembering the email or account password that is purged. I am 31. Live in Pittsburgh. Am engaged with a kid to her and she has a kid of her own. I am also a Conservative politically.

I was a huge fan of RPGs. Now I find less time to game and have a massive backlog. I sold my rare RPG collections on PS1 and PS2 some years back regrettably. I mostly game on Xbox One under the gamertag Corrik. I have basically no online friends now as people have gotten older and quit playing as much. I do also own a PS4, SNES classic, and Switch.

I was involved heavily with the Halo MLG community and was even a judge at multiple MLG events and the IPL StarCraft event in Atlantic City.

Spent a lot of time when younger on brood war, Halo (lan and xbc), Halo 2 online, and World of Warcraft.

Feel free to add me on X1 if you want someone to compare achievements with and such. I honestly rarely would probably get time to play with you however.

Beyond games... Huge UNC fan and movie buff. Watch a lot of TV shows also.

Nice to meet you all.

Hi! I guess I'm part of the new big batch of approvals. I enjoy discussing game development, and all the issues that surround it. I enjoy a good spirited debate, and I strive to keep myself open to the fact that I know somethings, and other things I don't know- If someone has a better point then me, I'm always happy to admit wrong.

I've worked as a developer and artist both in gaming and commercial design. I've worked at or contracted with BigFish Games, Annapurna, and I currently work at Nike WHQ in Oregon as a VR Developer for special projects that you may or may not see, depending on what you do and who you are! :)

Cheers. And thanks for having me.

Likewise!

I'm 34 and from Denmark. Not that much of a gamer anymore, although I do play a bit of League of Legends few times a week and the occasional FIFA games with my buddies. I guess having a baby will do that to you.

Hello everyone, I'm Bill. I do facility Maintenance with a background in HVAC. I have a ps4, switch and pc. I'm a married father of three. I've been here for a few years. Mostly lurking. Hello, I am Nicktendo86. I have been on NeoGaf since 2009 and used to post mainly regarding Nintendo, Android and UK Politics. Stopped visiting much as the general feel of the site took a nosedive as everyone seemed to lose their minds when we voted for brexit and Trump won. Hopefully things will pick up now and I will finally say something interesting or worthy of a tag. Here's hoping!

Loads of Europeans and fellow Nordics here, I like it :)

I'd be interested to see the demographics from visitors before and after the exodus, seems like there are far more (percentage vise) Europeans around. (Not intended to derail the topic, don't go into a thing).

Hello everyone, I'm OH-MyCar, although my tag on just about everything (PSN/XBL etc) has been RickGhastly for the past decade or so. I was also a long-time lurker of OldGaf since the earliest days until the environment shifted. I wouldn't consider my politics "conservative", whatsoever, but at the age of 37 I just felt like even lurking the site for news would just make me feel tired from the college campus-style environment. Things seem a lot healthier now.

I have degrees in Classical Archaeology but I'm currently working in Miami's hospitality industry, so travel & history are big things to me. I'm heavily into retro gaming and favorite games are typically in the Dragon Quest or Yakuza franchises. I'm also currently trying to get back into Street Fighter after 15 years of an absence, which has been pretty painful so far.

Hi all, another newbie to Neogaf here. I'm a middle aged dad in the UK who plays all sorts of PC games whenever I get a bit of spare time. I tend to flit between a few - currently playing XCOM2 WoTC, Endless Space 2 and Prey. Oh, and I got a racing wheel recently so I'm trying to be less rubbish at racing games as well. Looking forward to participating on the forums.

Rollergames!

I've been thinking about that picture for a day or so and couldn't figure out what it was. My mind was just going around the Skate or Die games and Ski or Die even though I knew it wasn't from none of those. Then, just now it suddenly hit me: Rollergames!

Not my favorite game but definitely underrated in a sense that it's much less talked about than how entertaining and well-playing game it is.

Haha, yes! Yeah, I agree, it’s not an all time classic, but it gets criminally unmentioned in gaming circles nowadays and is a great “unknown” konami game. And the soundtrack rocks too!

Yeah ill definitely check out the new Gundam in Odaiba. I love going to Odaiba we usually make it a whole day trip. Its nice to just sit on the beach while eating and watching the rainbow bridge light up lol if I was able to live in a small hut there right by the beach next to that clock they have there then I would be in heaven lol.

Hi everyone. I'm Muchacho. I'm 36 and in IT. I started gaming on MS-DOS with Carmen Sandiago and Leisure Suit Larry and when my local shop got arcade machines(ms pac man and spartanX).
I have no pc/console preference and believe if the game is good, it's good no matter the platform. I also try out all genres but stick to single player games mostly. I just recently got my ps4 and finished the 5 Uncharted games. Eagerly awaiting Soulcalibur VI, Red Dead Redemption and God of War. Oh and Death Stranding.
I still enjoy playing games on NES/GENESIS/PS1 and have impossible dreams of big budget remakes of games like Golden Axe, Rastan, Contra, World Heroes and Double Dragon. c'mon ASW.
I've been on here quite a few years now but mostly lurking from the shadows. Havent missed a day without visiting GAF at least once.
It is awesome to meet fellow GAFFERS and I hope it will grow and shine like the old GAF used to be.

Hi... I'm damerman, I'm 26 I work in Finance. I live in the NYC area, I hardly play video games these days even though i'm hyped for a lot of them, I like health and science and history and politics. I'm on tumblr... i'm a social justice warrior and I have -1 tolerance for trump supporters. But I'll still be civil in discussions.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
ULTROS! here

I usually lurk nowadays, but I'll try to post anything relevant.

I've been in this forum for about... 9 years already. Maybe some of you know me?

Just got married a month ago.

Still into video games and the like but I'm trying to sort it out, meaning buy the ones I only care about. Maybe a game a month or 2.

Ron here, living in Los Angeles. Worked for a bunch of different game devs for a good decade before moving onto mobile and now way into VR and AR which I'm very much enthused about. I've lurked on gaf since I guess 2005 or 6, approved in 2009, habitual lifer here. Very much into retrogaming and just very hopeful that that community can once again blossom on gaf, it was very enjoyable before. Likewise with the indie dev thread, it's been quite useful to me and so fun to watch. Looking very forward to what 2018 has in store for this forum! I'll take this opportunity to say if there's any local indie devs reading this and want to meet up for a beer sometime, drop me a line!

Nice to have a fellow VR guy. Sometimes I feel like the very very small minority in most places with my primary field being VR development.

Hi everyone :). I wanted to register here at neogaf many years ago, but because of free email account restrictions I was not allowed to do so. Now without email restrictions I can finally contribute to this great site, so thanks for this new opportunity.

I like old console games, but I also game on xbox X, PS4P, and PC (3770K + 1080ti).

Hi everyone,

30s, M, real estate development, loved neoGAF as a lurker back in 2012-2014 then just recently returned late last year.

Current favorite games are SAO: Memory Defrag, Monster Hunter World, and Borderlands 2.

Super hyped for BL3 and looking forward to joining the eventual BL3 community thread. If there are any SAO: MD players out there, let's resurrect the game's community thread!

Not so great at introductions but here it goes. I've lurked Gaf, since 2008, as a way to keep up with gaming related news. Eventually, I managed to have the guts and make an account.

I am Portuguese, have a degree in Criminology and currently am studying for another in Computer Engeneering & Programming while working full-time in a game store. Tetris was the first game I played and my first console was a MegaDrive II (you know the special stages on Sonic & Knuckles? I tried to get to the end of them... 'tried' being the key word here).

Asides gaming, reading about nearly everything is my main hobby... Whatever leftover time I have is spent binge watching documentaries/series.

As you can deduce from my avatar, Bloodborne is one of my favorite games ever and, in my opinion, so far the best game released for PS4 (fight me!).
