UT 2004 - GAF Mod List

I was a little bit bored, so I decided to make a list of all of the modifications/game types that have been released or will be released for Unreal Tournament 2004. This is to help those who just got the game to get the latest modifications/game types. So here is the list (Note the following descriptions are not mine. They are taken from the website.):

Alien Swarm - Alien Swarm is an overhead view tactical squad-based shooter for UT2K4. Set in the distant future, the players take the role of a Commander in the Interstellar Armed Forces. They must guide their squad of marines through Swarm infested colonies, overrun bases and outposts, to achieve a variety of objectives. Featuring Assault Rifles, Heat Tracking Guns, Sentry Guns, Flamethrowers and more. Supports co-operative multiplayer.

Air Buccaneers – AirBuccaneers is a modification for UnrealTournament 2004. It contains a new multiplayer game type with hot air balloons, cannons, airmines and various other pseudo ancient gadgets. The game is a compelling combination of graceful air ballet, fierce pirate-like action and 3D tactical manoeuvring. AirBuccaneers is targeted for novice 3D gamers, but offers plenty of challenge for veteran team players as well.
The game is designed for Internet/LAN multiplayer games but can be also practiced offline by using bots as opponents.

The game contains:
New multiplayer type containing intense and strategic hot air balloon fights
New player models, weapons, graphics and sounds to complete the unique atmosphere
Seven maps with different game types: HarbourRain (Domination), Harbour (Treasure Hunt), LakeInari (Team DeathMatch), Louhenkota (Moving Domination), OldForest (Team DeathMatch), Ruins (Team DeathMatch), Swamp (Treasure Hunt) and Tower (Domination)
Original and highly unique content with special thematic atmosphere
Genre mix (airwar, tactical vehicle ops and "sea" battles)
Simple control interface (action button, jump, walk, strafe, turn, throw "weapon", F1 for stats)

Atlantis - Atlantis is a first person shooter modification for the game Unreal Tournament 2003. The concept behind Atlantis is to provide players with a unique atmosphere, and gamestyle. Atlantis is designed to be a multiplayer and teamplay oriented game. Such games are usually lacking of atmosphere, and most of them like Counter Strike can be considered (and are played) as sports.

Multiplayer games have brought to gamers a unique feel of challenge and brotherhood, and we have all played them for that reason. But unfortunately we have all been disappointed by the lack of immersion, or real atmosphere that only single player games have succeed to create.

Thats why the goal of Atlantis is to launch players into battles having a deep atmosphere. Atlantis is more than ever an action and adventure game than your standard First person shooter. Concepts such as "immersion", quot;interactivity" or "atmosphere" are thus emphasized. The main aspect about it is the importance we put in the story and staging. Thus, we have developed a detailed and coherent storyline to set the action of the game. Then all maps players will visit (map = gaming environments) have their own storyline, taking place into the main one. So you know why you are fighting, where you are and what you have to do.

The atmosphere isnt the only key of the game. Atlantis is a multiplayer game and thus it opposes two different and unique teams : Humans Vs Atlanteans. The idea is to oppose two very different races with their own arsenal and technologies. That aspect changes radically the shape of battles resulting, and gamers will have to develop different strategies if they are humans or Atlanteans. This will change a lot from modern wars atmosphere and spice it a lot !

Jailbreak - Jailbreak is a gametype modification: it adds a new gametype, "Jailbreak", that sits alongside DeathMatch, Capture the Flag, Domination and so on. It introduces new rules and new effects, and maps specific to the gametype.
Gameplay
In Jailbreak, like in many other game types, your objective is to frag the opposing players — but unlike other game types, fragged players go straight into safe custody in the enemy jail when they're killed. To get them out of there, one of their teammates will have to fight his way into the enemy base and trigger the jail release switch that's hidden there (Jailbreak!). It is your task to defend your prison release switch and to free your own teammates when they're in jail. If your opponents manage to get all members of your team in prison, the opposing team will score a point, and your team will die a horrible death.
Jailbreak strongly focuses on team play and forces players to take on different roles for their team as the game goes on: defending their release switch, going into offense to frag opponents, or attacking the enemy base to release your own team members from prison. You'll have to be a versatile player to survive and win a game of Jailbreak.

Jungle Warfare - One of the first ever total conversions for UT2003, the current public version - 1.2 was our starting point and the mod has since evolved, receiving a total visual overhaul, balancing tweaks, bug fixes, the addition of several new classes, many new levels, all new sounds, new player models, and totally custom animations. The next public version 2.0 will certainly be different to the current version in that we listened to the communities responses and took them seriously. One things for sure, it wont lose any of the elements that were praised.

PC Zone UK, the UK’s biggest PC gaming magazine reviewed the mod saying "Even at this early stage the mod promises to be a real winner" and "addictive gameplay - it's damned good fun!" - "Beautiful - the way mods should be".

We also came 5th out of over 200 entries into the best mod category in the Epic/NVIDIA/Atari sponsored 'Make something Unreal contest'. These accolades and responses, along with the communities feedback have inspired us to make the best mod we can, and as a result, our mod has since evolved for the better. 1.2 got Mod of the month/ mod of the moment at many popular sites including Jolt and PlanetUnreal.

We aim to create something different and fun, not another clone of a mod that already exists on a different engine. The gameplay has the usual premise of good guys versus bad guys, in our case 'Marines' vs 'Guerrillas', but that's where the simmilarities end.

Jungle Warfare: GO is class based, and each team has 6 classes: the Medic, Sniper, Engineer, Scout, Commando, and Heavy Weapons specialist. Each of whom have a unique loadout and play very differently. Each role can be carried out just as in real life for your team to benefit. We encourage teamplay - we don't just say our mod has it - we have a unique order and voice option system with just about everything you could ever want to say in a military situation. We also have a squad selection/changing system allowing team members to join a squad or start their own.

The warfare takes place in a variety of realistic locations with real world weapons
and munitions, with realistic scenarios. In that respect you could say we are a realism mod, but the difference is, we make the mod fun, something which real-life warfare isn't. You wont get shot once in the chest and die (Although you may from a well aimed big caliber headshot), but it isn't arcade style. so you cant spray, pray, and live. A few shots will put you down, and damage is location based on your body. The action is frantic, fun, and gory.

The matches are round based, something which has become standard in mods in recent years, however, the user can configure the number of rounds per match, along with how many lives (if any) each player has, thus allowing for many gameplay variants. We use a wave-based re-enforcements system, which means that if you die you enter a que with all the other dead people, and when a timer runs out, if you have enough lives, you will re-enter the battle - again, focusing on teamplay elements. Of course if you want to go crazy on your own without the team then you can, it's all up to you and certain scenarios may require just that.

The motivation for winning isn't just the fun of seeing your name high on the scoreboard, or blowing the other team to pieces. Upgrade points are given for objectives, kills, round wins, etc. and these allow the player to buy items from kevlar, to advanced radars, to grenades. You CANT however buy guns - we aren't a CS clone, each class has a fixed loadout, just as in real life, so players will play each match as they would in real life rather than just trying to hog frags so they can buy themselves an Uber gun.

NeoTokyo - Overview & Common Questions

What is the mod?

Neotokyo is a first person shooter inspired by sci-fi anime created by Masamune Shirow, Katushiro Otomo and others.

Where and when does the mod take place?

The game takes place in a fictionalized Tokyo approximately 25 years in the future. Mankind has begun to fuse with technology. The problems of today have not gone away; in fact they have worsened. The rich are richer, the poor are unbelievably poor. Government and corporate corruption have transformed Tokyo into a deadly dystopian nightmare. Teenage angst has become a beast of the likes never seen before.

What do I control?

You control, as in most first person shooters, one character, however various vehicles like 'shirow class' urban tanks will be available. Also on the wish list are AI controlled familiars, i.e. police dogs and robots.

What is the main focus?

Initially the main focus of the mod will be multiplayer. Game play modes will largely be team versus team. In addition to classic game play modes the game will feature innovative game play modes that are in the spirit of the universe of Neotokyo.

It is our plan that single player 'episodes' will be released periodically with a heavy emphasis on story and setting.

Chaos Evolution - ChaosUT2: Evolution (also known as 'ChaosUT2', or 'CUT2') was developed by Chaotic Dreams, and is a free modification (commonly referred to as a 'mod') of the popular retail game Unreal Tournament 2003, which was created by Epic Games and Digital Extremes.
The Chaos mod was first made for Quake2 (ChaosDM for Q2), and that version was eventually included on the retail CD called 'Extremities'. The Chaos team then moved on to Unreal Tournament and produced ChaosUT, which was later included on the retail CD released by Epic Games called the 'Unreal Tournament Game of the Year Edition'. (But as always, each version is still free to download!)
And finally we come to this version, for UT2003, which is our latest effort (though almost certainly not our last!). It represents literally thousands of man-hours in planning, development, and testing, from a very dedicated team. All of whom have given freely of their spare time and valuable skills, simply for the love of the mod, and the satisfaction of a job well done.
ChaosUT2 brings an entirely new feel to the game of UT2003, but does so without removing anything from the original game. Each and every weapon, item, and feature included, covering everything from optional Chaos startup menus, to custom quit messages, has been designed and tested to work with the latest version of UT2003.
Perhaps the heart of the mod however, is the high quality, highly addictive Chaotic weapons. The current version contains a total of 15 weapons. And while some of them were inspired by the earlier Q2 and UT versions of our mod, each has been reengineered and rebuilt from the ground up. Eight of the weapons included are melee weapons, which come complete with their own custom animations. The melee weapons are available in our new game type called 'Duel', which was created specifically for them, and which is supported by a diverse set of new maps.
For those who have played Chaos before, we thank you! It is our fans that keep us alive, as a mod and a mod team. And for this we are sincerely grateful. For those who are experiencing Chaos for the 1st time... Welcome! It is our pleasure to bring this mod to you, and we hope that you enjoy yourself.

Frag-Ops - Semi-Realistic: Gameplay is based on real-world events and environments, with some elements changed to make the game more fun.
Team-Based Play: Two teams, Mercenary and Special Ops, battle it out in real-world combat situations with unconventional weaponry.
RoundGame Gametype: When a player dies, he spectates until one side eliminates the other.
Mission Gametype: Similar to the RoundGame gametype, Mission gives teams a set criteria of objectives they must complete to win the round. Some missions will cause your team to forfeit the round if you don't complete them, so teamwork is a must.
Dynamic Movement: Players can crouch-roll or dive-roll to dodge or surprise enemies. Climbing will be later implemented in FO2k4.
Medal Bonuses: Medals are awarded to players for achieving certain hurdles. The bonuses they give range depending on difficulty, and can include cash, new attachments, or new attacks. Achieving some medals even allows you access to special weaponry!
Credit System: Credits are awarded for killing enemies, completing objectives, or achieving medals, and are used to purchase weaponry and other inventory items.
Weapon Management: 6 Seperate inventory slots exist in Frag.Ops -- Melee, Sidearm, Primary, Grenade, Misc #1, Misc #2. Sidearms also include machine pistols.
Weapon Attachment System: Every weapon can be upgraded with optional attachments, expanding functionality infinitely. You can even combine attachments and customize your weapons to your exact preference. There are already more than 200 possible loadout combinations!
Other Inventory Items: There are different grenades available as extra items, including High Explosive, Flashbangs, and Smokers. Other grenade types are planned but might not be completed before the first public version.
Melee and Hand-to-Hand: FO includes a complex melee attack system. The direction you swing/stab depends on the direction the mouse moves. Bladed weapons also use the Clash(tm) system, where well-timed swings and parries can block your opponent's attacks or even counter them, leaving him open for the kill. You can also fight it out with fists, using the same directional attack system.
Ragdoll Deaths: Player deaths will use the Karma engine, which causes dead bodies to react to the world in a very realistic way. Every weapon uses its own individual settings for kills, randomly chosen, so every death is different.
Dynamic Objects: Grenades can be deflected with gunfire, smacked away with melee weapons, or blown up if they take too much damage. This is just an example of many more dynamic objects to come.
Playing Environments: There are 6 official maps to get busy on, ranging from a twilight desert battle to a helicopter crash in a rainy city block.

[/b]Unreal Demolition[/b] - Unreal Demolition is pure mayhem!

Gametypes:
Unreal Demolition - This mode brings Demolition Derby to your PC. This is an arcade style game with Unreal features. Your vehicles can jump, spin, flip, dance, and even get an instant burst of speed. Ram your opponents to get points. Highest score wins.

Future Gametypes:
Team UD - Unreal Demolition with teams. Use your teammates to put the hurt on someone.

UD Classic - More realism based. No Unreal features like jumping, boosts, etc. Just a plain old demo derby. You have 1 life, use it well. Last man alive is the winner.

UD Tag - Just like you played at recess...except you are in a 2 ton truck. Don't be it when time runs out.

UD Mutant - Gang up on the freak of nature. Points awarded for time alive as the mutant, as well as kills.

UD Battlebots - Demolition with robots and melee weapons. More of a 1 on 1 game.

UD Stunt - Gain points with sick flips, spins, twists, and jumps. You must be drinking Mountain Dew to play this mode.

UD Sumo - Push your opponets out of the arena or off the ledge. Last vehicle standing wins that round.

UD King of the Hill - Get on the hill and claim it as your own. Gain points for the length of your reign.

UD Soccer - Hit a giant rolling ball into the opposing team's goal to score points.

UD Deathmatch - Inspired by Twisted Metal. Drive around the map. Pick up weapons and powerups. Use them on your enemies.

DoMAiN 2049 - Domain is a tactical, team based FPS, set in the year 2049 in a totalitarian world of a dominant global government, underground rebellion and sinister corporations.
Featuring 4 unique teams:
The USE: The security forces of the global government, USE forces are well equipped, brutal forces of the state, quick to suppress any potential threat to the state.
Rebels: An underground resistance movement, operating in small cells the rebel movement hide beneath the cities and in the wilderness, swift guerrilla attack is their main form of attack.
Corporations: The corporations of the new age have their own law, corporate agents are a lethal force that strike fear into the hearts of those who see them.
Gangs: In the sprawling mass of the city the gangs control their stomping grounds through violent reprisal against all who stand against them, their only threat is rival gangs, fighting for control of the drug supply networks.
Gameplay modes:
In the released public alpha there is only one gameplay mode example:
Objective match: 2 teams fight to achieve a chain of objectives to win the match.
We have more gameplay modes planned:
Resource control: Up to 4 teams must collect and return to their homebase a set value of resources which have to be collected from a central location, this mode is best described as capture the flag with a twist.
Hostage rescue/VIP escort: As seen in other tactical team games
We are also working on developing other gamemodes, with maps for 2-4 teams according to the scenario/gametype.
