Out of curiosity, how much money does Microsoft save by taking the Kinect out?
At $399 I imagine they are making a profit on every console sold, as opposed
to the losses Sony takes per machine.
People bought ps2 over the original xbox despite the differences. Right now i'd say MS has the games advantage. Their resources are higher.
MS isn't far behind with the enormous amount of negatives surrounding it, so without a doubt they will soon leave ps4 in the dust in the US. Count on it.

Cheapest development and largest variety of excellent games eras from single console dominations is dumb?
Sony still has more and wider selection of games.
Possibly. People keep quoting the example of the PS3 to talk about how it is impossible to come back later in the generation, but those very same people keep forgetting Microsoft is acting much faster than Sony ever did- the PS3 was not a viable proposition for anybody until the PS3 Slim hit in 2009, three years after the PS3's initial launch, and four years after the 360's. Microsoft has acted much quicker with the Xbox One- they may yet have a legitimate shot at the gold, at the very least in North America.
Halo 2 Anniversary and CoD Advanced Warfare this fall will probably bring in a lot of the 360 shooter fan crowd. Most of the 360 CoD lovers I know (personally and forum folk) are still loyal to Xbox. Anecdotal of course, but that's a big market that was very loyal to 360 and Xbox Live for online gaming.
I could see those two games getting rid of the gap if Sony doesn't get Uncharted 4 out. Stuff like The Order probably won't move a lot of consoles since few new IPs do. Again, I'd love to be wrong, but I have no faith in my fellow American gamers now that the price gap is gone.
Hard to say but price wasn't their only issue. The biggest one still is mindshare and well... the PS4 is still more powerful despite price parity. If anything the XB1 should be cheaper.
Both those franchises are on a decline. In the last several years, Minecraft has done more to sell the Xbox brand than Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable combined. (EDIT: to clarify, I'm saying that from the time Minecraft: 360 Edition launched, it has sold more 360s than those sold due to Halo, Gears, etc from that same time. Obviously, above-mentioned franchises have sold more than Minecraft when combined).Wait until the Halo and Gears of War juggernaut appears.
This again? Dude they are only marginally behind in NA and the rest of the world, they aren't that far ahead either. Nothing that can't be undone. Especially, if Sony does nothing, like some in here are implying they should.
I don't think the 360 dominated last gen only because of the Halos and Gears, it also had LIVE and third-party games performed better on their system. But this time they're competing with PS+ and a more powerful machine. That was true last gen as well, and the 360 dominated in the US as it had more exclusives in genres that sell consoles to the mainstream here--namely online shooters.
So they could certainly pull ahead here again for the same reason, though the gap will be MUCH closer than last gen either way.
Personally, I think if MS wants to best Sony in the US at price parity, it needs more than a couple shooter franchises as exclusives. Either that, or they need to be at a lower price.
Not sure you really know what is going on with profit margins on both machines.

Is a loooong time to wait for your saviour.

and yet a shell of its former self still would sell more than a souls games or team ico games.

More importantly that's catering to an established base. Quite a few Souls fans came in via Dark Souls on Xbox (or so I'd think with all those Xbox videos/screens out there) while most people who want to stick with Halo at most are waiting until Halo actually shows up. It's like buying a Nintendo console for Mario or Zelda really, while something like Xenoblade or X are, well, X factors (though I think Project Beast would be more properly EFFECTIVE...)Halo is not what it used to be.
how do you figure ?
Or maybe consumers aren't stupid and they'll continue to buy the better system like they've been doing all along. Even with the Titanfall Bundle for $450 (which made the console LESS than $399 WITH Kinect) they still lost.

Nobody I talk to understands fully what the deal with the Xbone is. PS4 will likely win.
Project Beast , and TLG. Please elaborate on the hype.
Uncharted hype I will give you, but I don't think any first party game can match with Halo.
Halo 4 sold 3Million in 1 day
http://www.********.com/article/250533/halo-4-sells-over-3-million-units-opening-day/
It's true I have no idea lol
I'm putting together what I've seen posted.
From the link provided in the last page MS seems to have saved $75
(approx.). This, coupled with the profit made while Kinect was already
included, will perhaps shortly cover the R&D cost of Kinect.
From what other posters have said over the past few months, PS4 was
losing out on every machine by around $60, hence why people were saying
that a PS+ subscription and/or purchase of a game will cover their per machine
loss.
I'm just thinking aloud at this point haha
