NPD Sales Results for April 2015 [Up1: Xbox One #1]

I maintain the Xbox One will outsell the PS4 in the US by the time all is said and done

Yes. There are so many 360 owners that have yet to make the generational jump, and the One is still the most attractive choice, maybe even more so with all the price cuts and deals right now.

Wow kind of a boring NPD month, I suppose as I should have expected. The usual suspects in the top ten, not a sign of bloodborne.

Let's revisit that assessment if or when this becomes a trend. If the needle continues to move Microsoft's way in North America, and that's a VERY BIG if, Sony will drop the PS4 price in response. It's Economics 101.

They would need to start winning NPDs by a SIGNIFICANT margin for that to happen. The needle moving MS's way by this amount means nothing short term considering the gap. If every NPD for the next 12 months had Xbox winning by 50k they STILL wouldn't be ahead. Why would Sony need to even consider a price cut because they lost this month?

Hah Nah I doubt it. Not when the protagonist looks like someone took an Abercrombie and Fitch mannequin out back and mercilessly beat him with a generic everyman bat. He might as well be named Joe the incredibly average looking leather fetishist.

But hey my predicictions were WAY off this month so who knows. I guess anything is possible.
We just had a generation of bald space marines shooting things. People don't really care about that stuff that much.

Nobody is saying that, do you think MS would have been doing all of their promotions and incentives to get a XB1 if they were not getting whooped by Sony on their home turf?

No, and they need to, because, as you said, they're getting whooped. Sony is not getting whooped, they don't need to do anything.

Competition is not good, it's neutral. The Xbox getting whooped becomes good for consumers because of price drops but bad because of situations like Tomb Raider being bought to, more than likely, compete with Uncharted. Good and bad. It is not inherently good.

I simply don't understand why people believe a month loss of less than 20k will give Sony a kick in the pants or why it's "deserved" by MS.

If you ranked each individual sku rather than bundling all the games together, bb would be in the top 10, for whatever thats worth.

Genuinely surprising.
Turns out giving people Halo games when they purchase your system is a good idea.

And I think Windows 10 is a wild card as we head into its expected late summer launch. Will it actually improve the Xbox ecosystem? It needs to do more than just stream its games to PCs. ....We'll see.

April: "Sony shouldn't drop the price, they're making a lot of money.

*November comes, Sony loses*

November: "Complacent Sony!"

I... don't think that's right. I'm honestly assuming he just forgot the k. I mean, I know Ouya is a joke, but why would the SHIELD sell only 33 units?

I just don't see any market for it. It's an extremely niche product and many tablets have much better marketing and do much of the same things for cheaper.

but that bundle launched in March. it was more than likely the $175 trade in and the bundles with an additional controller and 12 months live that pushed it to match/beat PS4 this month.
