"Obsolescent" is written in huge letters on the wall. The NX Metroid comment is just another exclamation mark. And it's become increasingly clear that the NX thing is a replacement for both, while still predominantly focused on the handheld market. I don't know why anyone still refuses to read that writing.

At this point may as well be frank and just say that "NX" is, for all intents and purposes, Nintendo's soft exit from serving as a platform holder in the home console space. They'll have some sort of Ouya/Vita TV style box that allows you to basically play what is foremost a handheld library on a television screen. That's what the entrails tell me at least.

Nobody refuses to read that writing. But the threads about that are locked :p
Edit: The second part is really dumb though. Sorry to say that, but it's Gamefaqs/poor troll tier.

TCG is already on mobile, lol.

He said Gamefreak wanted to make Pokémon multiplatform and now Nintendo is supporting mobile. I fully expect a mobile Pokémon at some point, it might not be a full blown gen but it's happening.

Nah, he's kinda right but he's making it sound worse than it is IMO. When games like Xenoblade, Kid Icarus Uprising, Monster Hunter 4, Resident Evil Revelations and Smash Bros are handheld games I don't think there's much of a meaningful distinction apart from graphics and Nintendo was already out of that race.

I think Animal Crossing will fall flat.

I expect 500k LTD.

Not the type of game to reach a million; though the game is heavily monetized with cards so it's going to be viewed as a success.

Nintendo for once has no definite million seller + this FY.

AC:HHD? Or AC:AP?

Happy Home will do fine because its a full fledged package even without any Amiibo. The amiibo just add in old time characters + personalities from New Leaf rather than the "random" villagers. All of the fans of the series that I know, and I am not one of them, are decently into it from what they know of the title. Its not a New Leaf, but its a nice spin-off in between bigger releases. (Heck, they are into AC:AP, especially after they heard it was F2D.)

Will it reach a million? I don't know, that's more a question of how spin-offs perform in general.

That said, I do believe Mario Maker will sell a lot, and Splatoon may have legs long enough to reach a family bundle for the holidays which could propel it to a million. Yoshi, Star Fox, (lol) D3rd, and the rest will be moderate to abysmal failures.

He said Gamefreak wanted to make Pokémon multiplatform and now Nintendo is supporting mobile. I fully expect a mobile Pokémon at some point, it might not be a full blown gen but it's happening.

That was more tongue in cheek. :p

I don't disagree I bet we get plenty of tie-in games on mobile for pokemon. Heck, the whole Pokemon Amie can be a mobile tie-in where within you upload/load in your main game's pokemon and play with them in mini-games. They're not going to move the gens off of their hardware though, that's too much lost revenue. They'll monetize the tie-ins.

The Jaguar CPUs are incredibly weak, and ARM is getting progressively better at heavy loads and scalability (which is why I am pretty sure we'll see Nintendo on ARM). They won't need much horsepower to create incredible looking games on a 5-6" screen, and a scalability factor allows them to be played/sold for the home experience as well. The biggest question I'd have is if Nintendo will make the scalability built-in (difficult) or if they'll sell a peripheral "box" that serves to give the necessary extra horsepower for the home console experience.

No way Mario Maker does 1 million.
Maybe next year with bundles

So after E3 what are the games now coming out this year?

3DS : Zelda 4Swords, Zelda Legends, Metroid FF
WiiU : Mario Tennis, Starfox 0, AC board game

Star Ocean 5 is 2015 fall right (PS3/4)
I can't think of anything else....

I guess you mean things that were confirmed/announced at e3?

Well FE# stayed 2015 when I half expected a delay heh.

I'm guessing M&L is 2016 everywhere? I wasn't sure if that was only NA since it was an E3 trailer.

I think they'll look at DQM: Super Light and try to offer a similar experience. Something that captures the essence but is much lighter.

I think they'll go with ARM and I think the games will work kind of like the difference between playing a mobile game on a phone versus a tablet(though the gap may be bigger).

There are still some issues with this approach, namely:
1. Are the games buy once, play anywhere? Tipping Stars suggests Nintendo is open to that approach but FE:If clearly shows they're fine releasing two very similar products at the same time.
2. Does the hardware use physical media? If so do they have to use the same and does that mean cart based console?
3. How would multiplayer work? Is it possible to program it to do Wi-fi on portable and splitscreen on console. I doubt Nintendo wants to ditch splitscreen.
Then again everyone else has!

Awesome work guys! :D Really looking forward to the list!

Would it be alright if the list is posted from bottom to top? It's easy to figure out the top sellers, the bottom would be more interesting if you know what I mean? I'm interested in updated LTD numbers for games not seen in like forever.

When can we expect the data to start being posted?

When can we expect the data to start being posted?

It will take some time to translate the content so please don't expect anything straight away. It may even be a few months before everything can be posted and so I ask that you remain patient during this time.

Of course everything will eventually be posted here and I am aiming to help get this done fairly quickly.

I just thought I'd let everyone know that the funding stage is done. There is still much work to be done so please look forward to it! :)

Speaking about the 3DS version. My expectations are 500k LTD or less depending on the reception of the game.

That's fror the fiscal year, so only after April 1st so that number doesn't include the great Q1 PS4 has, most sales from Dragon Quest Heroes, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, Bloodborne aren't included.

Um, duno if thread worthy:

Fils-Aime: From a Nintendo perspective, we clearly have strength here in the Americas, we have strength in Europe and we have strength in Japan. That isn’t necessarily true of some of our more direct competitors. We’ve also said publicly that we are already hard at work on our next home console and that’s another element we’ll be talking about much later.

http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2015/06/18/nintendos-reggie-fils-aime-talks-amiibo-and-the-skylanders-deal/

So mobile games for handheld, and different form factors for their next home console judging by Iwata's and Reggie's comment?

I don't think it means much. I don't see them dropping handhelds if they're still going to bother with home consoles.

EDIT: Not to mention that apparently third parties already have target specs for their next handheld.

Well it makes more sense though, but I guess that already happened last year thanks to Smash & Mario Kart 8...

Strength in France and Germany. UK is a lost cause this gen.

EDIT: About Reggie's statement: yeah, I think this is another time where PR went wrong. Nintendo dropping handhelds seems like as implausible as Apple dropping iPhones.

True. I do think the essence of what you were saying is somewhat correct though.

Console + Handheld is now going to be Console/Handheld + Mobile.

EDIT:mad:Mpl90: Fourth Storm posted it in the Iwata tweet thread. Most people missed it because the thread moved so fast:
I don't know about dev kits, but I know that third parties at least have target specs for Nintendo's next handheld as of a few months back. And who knows if the home console will be much different. From the way Iwata talks, he wants to target different form factors at different regions. There are a few possibilities there...

He doesn't seem like the type to make that up.

But then there's like Sweden, Norway which I don't see many games charting in.
I'm not sure about Italy. I know Yoshi charted there for like months ha.
And Spain too.

I think before that some people had implied Nintendo had picked a screen resolution for the device.

Yes, and insider for Nintendo or at least on the ins of the R&D on-goings: higher than 480p but lower than 1080p. Either 540p (scalable to 1080p pretty straight forwardly, if we're going for the scalability factor) or 720p.

Storm seems like a really nice person from what i' ve seen of him in the boards.

BUT

XD

He was pretty of the mark with his Wii U speculations/sources. Even people with zero sources or insight were more right about how the console turn out.

Just a friendly warning. Not saying he is right or wrong for this round.

I think there's a big difference between the two situations and to be fair the Wii U specs were very badly documented from the sounds of it.
