It's a fairly safe bet. The right people have gotten their hands on it and have noticed many similarities. The fact that the software loads and can recognize, let alone dump nand right out of the box bodes well for the mod community.

I gotta add that the music sounds comparably bad on the DS version. Since the music is one of the best parts of Chrono Trigger, I cannot recommend the DS version. I vastly prefer the SNES version.

Chiming in here. I know they technically improved the script, but they also got rid of much of the flavor of the original. Frog, in particular. The SNES version is my preferred way to play.

I forgot about the Frog change in the DS version. Yeah, that's a bummer. His character in the SNES version is perfect.

First impressions:

- The controller has more physical grit than I remember.
- Cord too short
- Buttons feel excellent
- Man this thing is tiny
- Hookup went well
- Boots instantly
- UI is a little ugly
- Why are there no manuals on the device?
- CRT shader is okay, a little soft for my liking, I think I'll go with perfect pixel
- The backgrounds are good, although the cityscape just makes me think SimCity which somehow is not included in this set of games :(
- Played through SMW quickly, and didn't notice any emulation issues or input lag. Notably I wanted to see if the disco ball in Bowser's Castle last hall (which uses the SNES processor to do trigonometric rotation of the light while doing alpha blending on the light) caused extreme slowdown. It does, which is what's supposed to happen.
- Music sounded right to my ear except the bass line for Bowser's final theme sounded a little too loud and clear. Maybe just I have old person ears now and didn't when I played this last.

1 game down, 20 to go.

I've decided to only add 10 games to this thing when I get it, as I want to preserve the smaller row of box art without going off the screen.

SimCity is one such game that made that list. It might be my favourite version of that game across any platform.

Can’t wait to add Tetris Attack. Since its Japanese counterpart is present on the Super Famicom Mini, it should run perfectly!

What's the point of preordering if I can just pluck one off the shelf?

Why would it be unusual for them to ship to customers and their stores at the same time? That's how it works for the release of all other products with release dates.

Also of course they ship it to themselves, they don't teleport them into the inventory rooms of their stores.

There is a big difference though between shipping via Fedex, USPS, and UPS and putting bulk shipment onto your trucks. It's a whole lot harder to send them to individuals via a third party.

It says "the order has been picked up" at the store. No, I didn't pick it up. I didn't even receive a Mail it was ready to pick up. Hopefully it's an error on the website, because otherwise I'm going to find the employee that took it for themselves and make them cry.

I also like the simplicity of the SNES Sim City. Also the music is great. The title screen melody, although short, is still one of my favourite VGM tracks.

Something im wondering and would like answered for those with units already. Can you pull.off dragon punches in SF2 easily on the snes mini pads? I had real trouble with the 8bitdo snes pad for switch and that was a pretty good clone. Is the dpad better on snes mini?

Quantities are a lot larger than for most preordered items. It's not like you just preordered the new Nickleback album. Not to mention if you haven't noticed lately retailers like Amazon have had trouble meeting high priority preorder ship dates lately.

Anyone with an Amazon UK pre-order got any news? Mine is set to be dispatched tomorrow, but I'm in Spain. Hopefully there're no shenanigans with shipping outside the UK...

My Amazon germany order still says it should get shipped today, and arrive on Friday.

Very excited.
And I hope it will be easy to hack it and put more games on it, like with the NES mini.

Need Turtles in Time and Terranigma on that thing!

I have an order coming to my home address (by accident) through Best Buy arriving Thursday, and an order coming to my college address through Amazon. Yet, I'm considering returning both and going to Gamestop on Friday to pick one up so I can use up all that Gamestop credit I built up but have no use for (since I get no GCU like discount). Should I? I get a strong feeling Gamestop will be swamped.

Yeah, I would've preferred amazon, but I never got the chance to order it there and MediaMarkt was cheaper than all other retailers in Germany.

I couldn't call the store for clarification, because it was already closed when I noticed, but I did call the online service and they told me the order is still in transit. So it seems like it's really just a glitch on the website. Still, wish me luck!

Called my local Best Buy just now simply to ask if they were doing any kind of midnight release promotion or such and man, she just sighed and went into something it sounded like she'd been saying on repeat. Don't think I'll be able to just walk in and find one, but, we'll see, I'm still gonna try.

Anyone have movement on their Amazon.fr order? I'm in the U.S. The email confirmation they sent says delivery Oct 3 - Oct 4, but the order page says shipping Oct 3 - Oc4 with a status of has not shipped yet...

I don't have any tracking ID and was too relieved when the guy told me it's still in transit to ask for it. Maybe I should call them again, but knowing me I'll probably end up with the same guy, lol.

Have you noticed the aspect ratio seeming off using pixel perfect as opposed to 4:3? I've been reading up on this, and it seems like pixel perfect is definitely sharper, but the artists were designing things they knew would be stretched by the CRT technology that existed at the time, so pixel perfect ends up giving you a horizontally compressed image (compressed as in squeezed, not data compression). Sample shots explaining it:
