NHL October 2017 [OT]- Kneelin' and dealin'

Here's what I'm thinking happens. Molson is too gutless to fire BargainBin during the season (not to mention that, like Therrien, BargainBin is on the payroll for like 5 more years lolers), I'm thinking what is going to happen is Molson will appoint someone (Roy?) as President or whatever title you want to throw at it, to oversee and effectively neuter BargainBin. Then in the summer, BargainBin will be "fired" (which in Montreal means being shifted into the scouting department) and the President assumes GM duty.

Therrien and BargainBin foxhole reunited as overpaid and underqualified scouts.

If they struggle at home, I'm ok with having a fire sale, pulling a Leafs and tanking, purely based on the odds of the team coming back from such a bad start to make the playoffs is so difficult, and with how good this draft is supposedly. A benefit of the Leafs success is it puts more pressure on Molson / management to ice a good hockey team.

I also think we are going to see some pointless half measures soon - ie. firing of assistant coaches - before the bigger dominoes fall.

Red we could be 0-81 and you'd still say "let's wait for the last game tho guys Pacioretty and Galchenyuk are about to explode"

Though we got realllllly fucking lucky in our rebuild

Like... 3 drafts in a row with supremely good luck

Leafs are using a lot of pieces from a prior build and basically filled in the gaps with aggressive scouting and signings and huge luck at draft

If Vignault gets turfed by the Rangers I'd bet on them bringing him in as an associate coach

Habs play something like 38 of their next 75 at home, I'll wait to see the results after that before declaring the team dead, but lots of red flags nonetheless.

The funny/depressing thing is that we can't really even have a fire sale. Who do we have that a) has a moveable contract, and b) a team would even want?

All I can come up with that fits the criteria are Drouin, Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Lehkonen, Hudon, Byron and Mete. And you've have to think that even if we rebuild, Habs want to hang onto Drouin, Lehkonen, Hudon, and Mete. So that leaves precisely 3 movable assets: Patches, AGally and Byron. Patches is one year away from a gross overpayment, AGally has never had less value, and Byron is a third liner. We ain't getting shit from those trades.

This is basically what the Leafs did with Shanahan and Nonis in 2014-2015
RIP John Dunsworth, you will always be remembered :(

How come you ignored the defense?

Oh....oh :(

Lol they have one of the most difficult schedules to start the year, are 3rd in the league for SOG while being the lowest team in scoring. It doesn't excuse this awful start, but let's not pretend they've have a 7 game home stand against bottom teams. It's not impossible for them to turn it around, but you guys talk like they're going 3-79 this season. Logical thing is to see how they respond at home, if they continue to struggle you sell. That's not being naively optimistic, just logical, if you think the team is actually this bad then there's not much to say.

I get that, but I'd rather the team tank and get a decent to great pick, rather than make pointless moves to try and make the playoffs when their odds are at 10% or lower. It's too difficult to climb out of holes in this league anymore, so might as well go for a great pick instead of struggling for 9th.

At this point I'm prepared to lump Bergevin in with Rejean Houle as worst GMs in franchise history. And Rejean Houle traded Patrick Roy, Mark Recchi, Vincent Damphousse and Pierre Turgeon for nothing. It's not even that Bergevin has ruined the last 5 years and the present, it's that he's ruined the next 5 years too.

Everyone on that Dman lines except for Weber and Mete, should be available. I’m sure someone will over pay for Jeff Petry, probably Detroit or Ottawa. I’m sure someone needs a dman like Morrow or Benn like Washington.

Also Gallagher should be available too. He’s not the same player anymore. Galchenyuk needs to go, Pacioretty, Plekanec too.

Just keep Lehkonen, Hudon and Drouin. Maybe Danault

Yes, 1 win in 7 games, with the lowest shooting percentage in history, while getting a .800 save percentage from your goalie is completely normal, that is the Habs. You guys are too much.

Are we watching the same games? It's not bad luck. It's bad hockey. It's bad coaching, bad goaltending, bad defence, and non-existent offense.

there's no luck. The team's bread and butter for the past coupel of years has been "suck, but have one of the guy carry you through stretches"

It was Price at the beginning of the season last year, and Pacioretty for a month later on, in between that and after that we sucked, as expected

now take that team, replace the defense with the worst defense in the east, remove the one offensive spark plug

They've played bad the past few games, but again, are you seriously going to tell me this team will continue shooting at 3% (never happened in history), and that Price will continue playing at a .800% level? That's idiotic. I get being upset with the build of the team and how they've played, but give me a break.

give you a break for what? defending a trash team?

let's say they get back on track, what's the point? are you confident this team can win the stanley cup? are you confident this team's future looks good?
