True. And what's weird is that last year they were the only bright spot on the team. They've taken a step back with many of the same players. Hard to explain.

Well, the special teams isn't great, but they are not terrible either. They are just average, which is fine for me, I was just looking for something to criticize on the Steelers, and this was literally the only thing that I could think of.

No, they aren't terrible. But some of the big returns given up are a lil troubling. And El had a couple punt returns for TDs last year with none yet this year. I'm sure Cowher is preaching about it though, he'll look for anything to keep them on edge.

LOL at that pic. I hope the giants understand that Eli is setup for failure. How can he live up to the standards of either Rothlesburger or his brother.

Heh, this is great news for our D-Line. Chances are they are not going to let Eli make a name of himself off them, especially Coleman and Kerney.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Urlacher will miss four to six weeks with a lower left leg injury sustained in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Ahhh hell winning three in a row was too good to be true now we lose Urlacher for a month! Now the rest of the D is gonna have to pick it up. As long as our Dline keeps on getting the penetration we have been getting the last few weeks we should be fine. It's all about the front four at the line of scrimmage.

I just support whatever Ohio-area team isn't sucking ass in whatever year's in question.

Eli Manning will start next week vs. Atlanta.

So it's finally happened. A little sooner than I would've liked but since the Giants have recently lost 3 very winnable games (Detroit, Chicago, Arizona) they've pretty much squandered their chance to make the playoffs. With the Falcons, Eagles, Ravens, and Steelers coming up on the schedule it's time to start getting Eli ready for next year.

I'll admit I've been slowly developing a case of "Big Ben Envy" but I think the Giants need another off-season to bring in the kind of personnel they need to have a complete team comparable to Pittsburg.

Finally it's Eli time again. Although Elway in his prime might not look good behind this Giants OL. Warner holding the ball for maddeningly long times compounded the problem, I'm sure Eli will get better results.

Didn't y'all miss my Eli updates?

Eli's turn to surpass Big Ben!...go G-men :D

There are 2 problems with your arguments:

1) Steelers have arguably the best O-line in football.

2) No one can surpass the Messiah.

Lets see if Manning can survive his rookie season, because he is gonna get his ass kicked in the next few weeks. If you expect him to throw the ball more then 10 yards he is gonna get hit hard. Interesting to see how he reacts when he gets hit hard. My guess is he is going to fall to pieces.

Bad move by the Giants. I don't disagree with them putting in Eli early, but the Falcons is not a good team for them to switch QBs. I predict 8 sacks, 1 fumble, and 3 INTs.

Warner has played decent IMO. Maybe he wouldn't be pressured into mistakes as much if he got some protection from that crap o-line. Hell, the reason they've lost the last few games is cos they suddenly stopped playing defense...

ummm....he's already taken one of the hardest shots in the entire NFL this year

not a good week to put Eli in? this is a great weak. i dont care what the stats say, the falcons defense is definitely in the bottom half of the league, and i would even go out on a limb and say they aren't even top 20. the reason they look good at times is because the secondary is so terrible, they basically (at times) blitz the house. their defense has been torn to pieces by some pretty bad teams. i mean for gods sake they made ken dorsey look like a seasoned vet in the season opener, and it was dorseys first ever regular season game. you may misunderstand me saying this as i'm bitter towards the falcons (which i am!), but i'm just pointing out that even though their defense has a shit load of sacks, they aren't very good. they remind me a lot of the 49ers defense last year. the numbers LOOKED good, but infact we gave up a lot of points and had to blitz 3 extra guys JUST to get pressure on the QB. that is what i see in the falcons, and if eli has as quick of a gun as everyone says, he's going to have some big play opportunities and i think he will capitalize on them

:lol :lol actually the stats agree with you. Falcons D is 22nd overall.

Wasn't that in the preseason? Let me see how he reacts during the regular season.

nope, it was in the regular season. 4th quarter garbage time of a game.

it was in the regular season in week 1 against the eagles. he got fucking rocked too. but, to his credit he did bounce right back up. still, you know that motherfucker was hurting from head to toe after that hit (even though he didn't show it)

Speaking of hits, that block that Hines Ward threw on that Browns lineman has to be one of the greatest blocks I have ever seen. There was a also a huge hit they had on the Browns running back as well that made him fumble.

Love the way the Steelers are playing these days. If Boller somehow becomes decent, they are a real team for everyone to worry about though. Hopefully that last game was a fluke and he continues to stink it up. :D

How many steelers fans posted here last year? I can remember a few on and off, spectral glider is the only one in particular. But this year, we have 87 "true" steelers fans.

hmmmmmmm.

smiley or not that's pretty messed up... all the Ravens fans here have supported and acknowledged how well the Steelers are playing... and this is how you repay us?

I now wish ill towards the Steelers.

Sorry, but you got your Superbowl recently, I don't want your team knocking us off this year.

Just consider it a signal of how much I respect the Ravens as a team. I think they are one of the few teams, aside from the Pats, balanced enough to beat the Steelers in the postseason. Of course their balance assumes Boller plays well, and I am hoping he waits one more year to break out. ;)

Cmon, we have to all work together and focus our ill will towards the Pats. We can focus on our rivalry again once they are knocked out of the picture. :D

I've rooted for the Steelers all my life (I was born in a very pro-Pitt area), though I'd be lying if I said I was a huge football fan, in general.

I only started posting here last year and I picked those mofo's in all of the GA videogame sports leagues and we were fuckin 6-10 last year :( No bandwagon here sir!

LOL. I have Steelers season tickets and have posted in the GA Football Threads for 3 years. Just ask Darian.

I've gone to every home game this season. Don't look at me.

I've been a Steeler fan since I was 5, which was back in 78. Yeah, it was the end of the dynasty years, but I was 5. I didn't follow football weekly, all I knew was that they were from PA, had a nickname that was different from everybody else and thought they had the coolest color combo. Unfortunately, by the time I made following them a regular ritual, which was around 1981, they had lost some of their luster. I remember watching Bradhsaw's last game against the Jets in 83. I've been through some lean years, namely 81, 85, 86, 87, 88. My fondest memories growing up were of 89....Bubby to Louis and Greg Lloyd just jack hammering guys. I still remember, like it was yesterday, the Monday night game against the Giants where Noll benched Bubby in favor of Neil O'Donnell and he brought them back from 17 down only to lose the game on a field goal. Lots of crazy memories.

dont know what you're talking about soulja, all the steelers fans we have here now we had last year. i know for a fact that ramirez and maverick have been hardcore since ive been @ ga, and im pretty sure ive known bionic to be one as well. not much bandwagoning here, even i have to praise big ben but that doesn't mean im a hardcore steelers fan... or even a fan at all. i hate seeing teams have success when my team is #32 in every powerranking in the world.

Those are the only 3 I remember.

With that said, my AFC teams to root for once the playoffs start (if the texans aren't in it :()are in this order.

Steelers (Patriots have their superbowls, time for another team to go at it)
San Diego (assuming they make it to the playoffs)
Patriots (There's no way in hell I put Indy in the top 3)

goddamit, Griese!
Shit, i have no idea who i'm gonna root for the NFC. i loathe nearly every team that isn't the bears.

NFC: who cares, they're guaranteed to lose
AFC: bengals (realistically they aren't making the playoffs so I have to root for the colts instead)

Yeah because it's our high powered offense that has us at 7-2.

You are talking crazy FMT. Except for our 2 loses, our defense has held every team we've faced to under 100 yards rushing. That includes LT II and Reubean(sp?) Droughns. And your comment about us blitzing the house, check and see where the majority of our sacks come from and you will see that the majority of them come from Kerney, Smith and Coleman. All D-Linemen. Watch some Falcon games and you will see we don't have to blitz no extra men to get pressure on QBs. Our pass rush has best to be respected, especially with Rod Coleman back in the mix. The only thing you are right about is our secondary. They are terrible and give up too many big plays, but they've gotten alittle better since Hall has been back.

I love how we don't get any respect. It just makes it all the more sweetier when we do well and win games.

GO FRAUDD STINKSTON!! :lol

BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF THE COWBOYS! Make it sting! 56-7! DO IT! Give the Texans bragging rights yet again this week!

I didn't mean that the steeler fans here are bandwagoners per se, coz i remember most of them from 2002.

I'm just saying, when the steelers sucked last year, you didn't see them around all that much.

It's kinda like the difference between panther fans last year and this year. Or bucs fans from the year before. At least FMT shows up every week or so, lol.
