I have a sealed copy of the game and I wonder what kind of price it will have in a few years. I don't think I'll ever sell it though.

Are you ever going to actually play it? Or did you already played it?
Did you forget how we were talking about our pre-orders, how we shared dates and how I said I can't wait for physical copy anymore so I bought the digital to play it? Of course I played it, I even made the yakisoba pan and posted them here.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

I finally beat this game. Still have a lot of process with regards to the story. Overall I really liked the game. I want to get the OST now.
I still cant believe this game didn't get nominated for its soundtrack, did none the judges play this game?

Game is on sale on PSN, between 33 and 50% depending on where you are (I think).

Half way through the narrative. Can't really praise it when it's just Megazone 23, like extremely shamelessly so too. I like it but I can't really say nice things about the story when I watched it like 6 years ago already. 👀

So I am playing through the game and I am enjoying it so far. I finished the prologue and I wonder how to get the most out of the game? Not sure how to balance between Remembrance and Destruction. Any recommendation?

Play thru all destruction levels up until you hit a wall that prevents you from progressing further. Then go and play the story.

Is that good or bad by Vanillaware standards?

Amazing. They are not a blockbuster studio.

Eventually you need to do both, what I did is try to match percentage between Remembrance and Destruction. But it doesn’t matter in the end, you can approach it however you want.

That's good to hear. Because I was reading stuff like "13 Sentinels bombed, even in Japan" and began to worry. I do hope that Vanillaware (maybe with outside help from Sega?) might port their stuff to other platforms as well.

I did exact opposite of what Komatsu said - I played Remembrance as much as I could first, then moved onto Destruction. One good thing by doing so is you get some credits to upgrade your Sentinels early on by doing so. Not that the battles are hard to begin with, but seeing the sentinels being upgraded fully, they become quite powerful.

In the end, even if you push Remembrance first or Destruction first - you will hit a wall where you'd need to complete such and such. So it really doesn't matter - and that's one of the beautiful thing about the game, that you can approach in any character order etc.

I did the exact same thing myself and regretted it. The Destruction levels are paced in such a way that they give you just little breadcrumbs of context that can be used when you're playing through Remembrance. I followed my own advice on my second playthrough and it made a lot more sense.

Still thinking about that final battle. Had me sweating. I think I might try combat at the harder difficulty now. It didn't really pose any challenge till like the end. I think I only had one sentinel taken out of combat prior to the last section.

Possibly. 300k is about 50k less than odin sphere (2007). I'm not too sure how much it cost to develop, finance, and market 13 sentinels.
There was another article that vanillaware was initially unhappy with sales for 13 Sentinels but word of mouth helped it. According again to ATLUS it exceeded sales expectations

Per Wikipedia: Odin Sphere had sold 350,000 units worldwide during the 2007 to 2008 period. The financial success of the game for Vanillaware was contributed by Kamitani to high royalty payments set by Atlus as part of the publishing contract.

Dragon's Crown shipped 800k.

Also for Dragon's Crown.

Can anyone who has played the game on PS5 (or PS4Pro?) confirm if the game is 4k?
And (probably not as important, but...) if it is 60fps?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about the resolution but the game is running on 60FPS even on PS4 both the story section and combat section.

I think only the Dragon's Crown is in 4k.

Hmm. Thanks.
Sale on PSN Store for 50%, and I haven't heard any rumours of a PC release(4K).
so I might as well go for it.

I see - for me it was also opposite though, because those little breadcrumbs also acted as sort of reminder of what has happened before - (as I become more senile over the years... sigh.)

When this whole corona is done and over, I am thinking about visiting my folks overseas - and am probably going to purchase 13 Sentinel in my native language ver... And while I play it my 2nd time thru, I will do exactly your way - play the destructions first, then move onto the remembrance next.

I remember how the designer sent pics of sexy dwarves to the author of an article that criticized the sorceress and the amazon.

Criticism is putting it mildly.

Jason Schreier was calling George Kamitani a pedophile because to him the Sorceress was intended to appeal to them.

Going by the statue scale the Sorceress is roughly 6 feet tall with huge breasts and ass. And Schreier thinks this is what appeals to pedophiles.

If you ever want to see what complete delusion looks like, just look over the article he wrote and remember that an adult actually thought it was a good idea to put that mental diarrhea into text.

Wow, that is even worse than I expected, thanks for letting me know the full context.

edit: I just read it and there is no mention of pedophilia or anything like that in there though, unless there is another article somewhere else.

So all signs right now point to a good amount of sales apparently. That's good to hear because I was afraid that if this thing bombed hard, then that might have been that for Vanillaware...

I'm thinking the exact same thing. I may buy it over the weekend since a PC port is unlikely and everyone says the story is amazing (due to the 50% sale)

I'm about 10 hours in and the plot is starting to make some sort of sense, but the way it's told really is ridiculously convoluted.

13 characters, with seperate but interconnected plotlines told non-chronologically, full of flashbacks and flashforwards. On top of that some characters

have more than one name, amnesia, or look different between different time periods. Sometimes all three.

I'm also pretty bored with Japanese high schoolers although that's not the game's fault. Plus it looks quite drab next to Dragon Crown.

That all sounds more negative than I wanted it to because I am still enjoying the game, but it's pretty heavily hyped in some circles and I'm not quite seeing why.

I can certainly understand your point - but for me the enjoyment was trying to figure out "how in the heck the writers can wrap this mess up".

Yes, the characters themselves are quite a bit of homage/copy of some existing character arch types with a lot of cliche'd elements - but for me, it's what you do with them to lead the story. About the game's setting being High School... felt something more of necessity because of needing of a real life "hub" that can cover wide variety of people to naturally interact w/ each other - but not limiting any expansion... Cliche'd setting yes, but yeah - I can't really think of any other logical, and mundane place to achieve that goal, especially in 80's Showa times.

My amazement of with this game wasn't really about any character's individual storyline (I liked some of them more than others though), but how they all go in different direction - but all intertwine and elevate the story to ridiculously convoluted level, at the same time comes all together to explain the whole scope of the incident in satisfying manner - that can be played in any random order. Ridiculously convoluted way of telling a story is correct, in a good way for me at least. I found it was quite an interesting experience to say the least - and especially loved that everything wrapped up so well in the end as a nice little package with a bow on top.

If it was a super long game - or serialized game, I myself may have gotten a bit tired of it too... like me watching the last season of "LOST".

Started playing for an hour, 2x prologues in and WTF. Why are they naked inside the machines?! It's so embarrassing playing, I wish there was an option to cloth them because it's completely weird and uncomfortable knowing it will stay this way throughout the game.

Question,
In Japanese culture why are so many games based off of first year ~ up HS students lives? Doki Doki Literature Club, Persona, Valkyrie Chronicles, they are all fantastic games, but they're all based off of school classes & shit, maybe minus VC.
