Use the A10 or a multirole aircraft with some bombs. Air superiority fighters suck at bombing.

I was, I was on mission 8 and stuck trying to find the trucks. But figured out changing the radar type really makes a huge difference. Finished it with over 4 minutes left.

Getting a stick is just a waste of money.

Stick is great. I'm really liking it with the thrustmaster hotas 4.

Wasted my money on upgrades...

You can redo missions in freeplay or play multiplayer for money. Multiplayer gives a lot. I won one match of team deathmatch (thanks team) and got like 300,000.

You can get like 60,000 points for finishing dead last in battle royale, even.

The biggest problem with multiplayer is room hosts who go to the hangar and stay there for 20 minutes when everyone else is ready to play though.

Yea. A10 with the 4 lock ground missiles are the go to for missions 6, 7, and 8. The maneuverability of it and ground attack capability is the best combination, especially when you need to fly through those pillars. Made playing those missions on hard much more manageable.

It doesn't need to be a hardcore sim to be more enjoyable with stick and throttle. Sega Rally is also much more fun on a steering wheel as it is on a controller.
Pretty much any racing game is better with a wheel but not every flying sim is better with a stick. For example the FreeSpace series is just bad with a stick. You need to switch between keyboard (dogfighting) and mouse (fine adjustments and sniping) to really make it through some of the tougher missions. Ace Combat I have never played with a stick but through all my hours (close or over 1000) I never felt like I needed one.

R.I.P Ace Combat doggo!

Why isn't the doggo a meme implemented in other video game screenshots etc? Or is it and I just missed it? If twitter can make sasuke choking into a meme challenge, then jpeg doggo needs to be everywhere also, lmao.

I'm having a hard time getting into it. It looks nice and everything, but.. I dunno, best way I can describe how I feel about it is like eating plain pasta.

I finally got my copy although without the pre order bonuses.

I did notice something interesting in the box. I'm in Mexico so I get the Mexican edition and the box art heavily advertises the game's VR capabilities.

There is a section that reads "complete the VR missions first on PS4" and below that message in small white letters it reads "VR missions exclusive for PS4 until 1/18/20".

So it would seem that VR is coming to PC, just a bit later.

Is this game really worth a buy, I have a One X and a Pro but for what it's worth I also have the PSVR. Not sure if X version performance is better and worth getting over PSVR option and if PSVR is also really worth getting it for?

The games VR was highly praised. I play it on the X1X but I’d say go for it on the Pro since the enhancement isn’t much of wow

Definitely yes if you are into combat flight action video games which are walking on the line between a simulator and arcade style gameplay. You already have the PSVR so the choice is obvious but there are only three missions in this mode. For a full experience and immersion I would get one of these flight sticks: Thrustmaster Hotas 4 or Hori (this one has a vibration feature inside a joystick but is more expensive).

Xbox one X and PS4 Pro both have the same 'enhancement' which is just native 1080p and locked 60fps. Though digital foundary analysis here https://www.youtube.com/user/DigitalFoundry Think ps4 pro has fewer drops than xbox one x. Sounds llke neither version is really taking advantage of the consoles though.

I had the chance to play the first 6 missions yesterday and I'm very pleased with it. It is just as I remember.

Graphics are OK but TBH I feel they could do better. It looks and plays cool but I don't see anything that would explain not having 1080P at 60 FPS locked.

I'm having issues with my pre-order bonuses as well. I had to contact Amazon about it and I'm waiting for them to sort it out with the manufacturer. I hope it gets solved soon, I'm looking forward to revisit AC5.

Playing it with crispy clear resolution and font and at 60 fps is just astonishing. Felt like playing it for the first time again. Absolutely worth it to get Ace Combat 7 just to play it.

Actually the only reason I pre-ordered for PS4 as opposed to waiting for it to come out for PC was that pre-order bonus. Super frustrating that Amazon didn't come through.

Is there any way to get AC5 now that the pre-order window has passed?

So Amazon finally provided the code for AC5 and decided to reinburse me te equivalent to $3 usd in store credit to compensate for a pre-orde pin or something like that that it was supposed to come as a pre-order bonus.

I really just care about AC5 so it's a win.

Regarding the game, I'm up to mission 10. Classic AC gameplay all around. The points missions are a bit annoying and I'm getting C's all around. I used to get good scores in previous games. I'm going for the campaign right now so I'm not too concerned but unlocks are coming through slowly.

I'll try MP later on. It's the first time I'll play AC against other people. Is it like it used to be with Star Fox 64 where you could get in an endless loop of low and high yo-yos?

Well I am on the last mission or so I think. But can't complete it with my T Flight HOtas 4. It's broken and the rudder constantly pulls to the left. I haven't played any of the game with a regular controller so don't want to start now.

Have to wait for Thrustmaster to send me a replacement. If they are slow about it I might just have amazon send me a replacement and send it back to them.

Someone else having problems in chapter 6 "Long Day". I know I suck at AC, but 17,000 is a big score to reach.

You almost have to use the A-10 it has a ton of ammo for ground weapons. Make sure you get the 3 transport/bombers at the first base you fly into they give the most points and they are on the ground when you first get there.

Yes, unfortunately. That is why pvp in Ace Combat was always short lived, it is't much fun. They managed to solve it in Assault Horizon with the dogfight mode which has counter-maneuvers but every other game it just turns into an endless looping unless you cheese. You can cheese by staying back and look for people who are looping one another, at that point they are vulnerable to players outside the loop so if you get into a good position you can take em out. Or you can use cheese weapons like railguns which are pretty much hit-scan weapons. Another option is to just fly randomly and shoot missiles everywhere, eventually some will hit. Last option is to wait until you get all the upgrades and turn your basic missiles into the strongest weapon in the game, at least that is how it worked in Infinity.

A10 with 4GM and learning how to aim with the gun did wonder for me too. As long as you prioritize destroying SAM lauchers and avoid flying into rock walls you should be fine with it. Also, don’t hesitate restarting the campaign on easy - your tech tree progression will get carried over.

Do you know if it's possible to play in squads? It would be much more fun to be able to play with formations and that would pretty much break those endless loops.

Yeah there is team deathmatch but from my experience of playing multiplayer since 6 it doesn't really change much. You would need to coordinate with your team to break the endless looping otherwise it is just deathmatch where you can't shoot 3 guys. Infinity had a decent PVP because it had objectives. One of them was that each team had a fleet and it was all about how much damage each team delt to the other team's fleet (very fun). The other was about flying through rings where the team that flew through the most rings won the match (also pretty damn fun). The idea was that none of these were strictly dogfight battles which reduced infinite loops to a minimum.

That does sound fun. Hopefully they will add those modes to 7.

I didn’t play infinity but boy that sounds fun. Would really like to see that added in a patch.

Some sort of replay functionality for multiplayer (maybe a specific mode so people who don’t want it won’t have it) would probably make a lot of people happy too, I’ve been seeing videos of Japanese players on twitter doing stunts and formations and stuff with flares, and they’d probably love such a thing.

This is my first AC game. I learned the best way to play this game is putting Flight controls to Expert. Also the hardest thing about this game is the time limit.

In AC7 infinite looping is not a very good tactic. It works if you have team mates hanging back with qaam. Using clouds is quite good to evade missiles though.

Really liking the game so far, currently at mission 12. Mission 10 was a nice change of pace. Multiplayer isn't really my thing, I remember that I had a lot more fun with the multiplayer in AC6 but maybe that's just me getting older.

Might pick up a HOTAS for it in the near future.
