I really wanted to play this, but between Vanguard, warzone, and now Halo, there is simply no room :| perhaps once I get tired of Vanguard I'll try it out..

Always time to try it later, plus more fixes and content will be out then.

Thanks for making a ot. Im really liking the game even though its super buggy and after it gets cheaper ill double dip on the ps5 version after ive got my fill on series x.

Is 'That Pure Potato'
I was performing recon and spawn point duty, occasionally ambushing a passing enemy for some added experience, when I saw a guy on my squad use his zipline skill to kick one of those gliding bitches to death. Knocked her ass like twenty feet. I did not know that was even possible but I kept intermittingly giggling about it for fifteen minutes. It looked so silly.

I also blew up two fully-manned gun plane things with my recoiless launcher. That was exciting, watching those big numbers pop.

I'm completely addicted.
Funny, I was only interested in the portal mode. But I'm enjoying the main modes way more.
When it clicks and you're advancing with your team (without being farmed by vehicles) it's so cool. Reminds me of Planetside 2 at times. Follow the zerg.
I was against the specialist at first, but now I like how they alter the experience.

I'm playing on PC with an elite 2 controller. I was struggling in the beginning, but now I can consistently kill enemies. I still have trouble hitting moving targets tough. I wish aim assist was a bit more useful.

Damn , I'm just level 31 playing over the weekend. I feel like I'm falling behind lol. Enjoying it so far, great OT.
Thanks! Also for me it felt like ranking up goes pretty quick until like 50, and the guy who was level 83 said it takes quite awhile for him.

Shit, I can only imagine. I was happy it wasn't to bad to get to 31. I'll be happy to hit 40 by Monday if I play some Thanksgiving.

So what do you want to talk about

What mode is everyone playing?

I found Breakthrough to be really fun as a solo mode but I grouped with my friends last night and found Breakthrough to be too chaotic to work as a group, we went back to Conquest as it seems better for group play.

We haven't tried Hazard Zone yet but that seems like the ideal mode for a set squad of friends. Is Hazard Zone actually good?

Breakthrough is without a doubt my favourite mode, just sucks that two of the maps place the last sector on top of a massive building which is impossible to take over 9 times out of 10.

Breakthrough is also the best mode for getting my Casper Mastery up as you can hide in a good spot, use the drone for the swarms of enemies and watch your team pick them all off.

Conquest is fun too but I'm yet to get enough of my mates to buy the game and it ain't the same with randoms.

Keeping with Breakthrough non stop. Using Paik with everyone's favorite weapon the PP. Now that I think about it.. an Asian girl with a PP... I have issues. Trying to get her , I think T1 outfit , 1500 scan/assists to go.

The incoming Littlebird nerf makes me sad. That thing shreds peeps and helicopters. Especially in Breakthrough. The old repair trick still works so u never go down with the right team.

Played a few hours for the first time since beta yesterday. My opinion hasn't changed much. Not a big fan so far of the huge maps and the general flow of games. As someone who prefers playing infantry it's easy to feel like a useless cog now, I hope they add smaller maps.

It's okay having huge maps but why not add more tanks and other vehicles at the same time? They're obviously maps catered for vehicles so add more of them.

Portal is good and I'm just hoping they keep adding maps to it. Give us some battlefield 1 maps next please. Kinda sad there's no customization or anything in the mode though.

U might wanna check YouTube for that. It helped me greatly.

Dude this is a great tip. I just checked a video and apparently there's something called "Soldier aim assist" that makes aiming sluggish when you ADS. I've noticed this quite a lot where you ADS but you can't get the crosshair on an enemy and aiming feels slow and sticky, but I had no idea this was because of a menu setting.

Will definitely try with aim assist turned to zero and see if it makes a difference.

Zero is probably too much. I turned it down to 90 and I'm doing much better since then. Also that aim ratio thing. I have it at 70/100 and soldier uniform aiming to off.

I'm Enjoying the game. Sad, Rush Mode only available on Portal.

I'm saying, I wish they made it to where Rush could be played on all maps, I hope they allow that in a future Portal even if it means in some other BF title. So I assume Portal will have some editor in the future where you can place a station some place and number of tickets needed etc Forge allows for a whole lot, but its nothing as complex as what we've seen in Portal, so I'm a bit surprised it doesn't have that.

I've stepped on piles of shit before. it's not pleasant what so ever. Calling the game shit is not fair to the developers. They worked very hard on this.
gonna cry tobey maguire GIF

Last time I tried playing breakthrough with my friends we got glitched deployments 4 times in a row. Literally the entire server locked the game the from even starting. Everyone just quit after that.

This is nothing personal. Who cares about some hurt feelings. People got every right to be upset about a product being faulty.

I fully recommend 4 party squading up in hazard zone. Did it again with the boys and it was too much fun.

Yall got any tips and tricks for 2042?

Unlike cod BF doesn't get annual releases, so each BF game is relevant for a longer time span than cod. So there's plenty of time

"plenty of time" ...for them to hopefully fix this game, yeah. I mean BFV ended up in a 'better state' than how it started but still didn't deliver on their own promises.

It also begs the question that with this much time between releases (and the biggest development team to date for a BF title) they've managed to fuck things up, yet again? Sorry I don't want to derail but just because a franchise isn't annualized doesn't mean we should excuse any shortcomings, on the contrary we should expect more.

I still hope DICE can pull it together but I fear they won't manage. Not with this game in any case. Unless they really go all in and give 2042 a massive overhaul in a year from now I don't see how they will be able to salvage this one. It clearly needed a lot more time in the oven but for whatever reason they pushed it out the door regardless.

I'm glad some of you are enjoying it though and I don't want to piss on your parade. That said I don't think that any of what I've said is unfair towards DICE/EA hehe.

More vehicles? You can't walk 10 meters without being blown up by tank shells or helicopter rocket spam. We have enough vehicles, thank you.

Given the state of the latest two releases I'm beginning to think a lot of the best talent at DICE were part of the group that left to form their own studio. They've been making backwards steps since Battlefield 1.

Well never said it was perfect or anything, I just referred to in one year its too late to jump on Vanguard, while BF still has some years into it.

I got neither of the games, but I know the circle of them both.

I know it's probably semi-cheating but I do appreciate how you can level your weapons, vehicles and gear/specialists in the single player bot matches.

No better feeling than shredding through waves of bots and watching the unlocks follow.
last time I checked, weapons mastery ranks didn't work in Co-op mode. Has this changed ? (you could only unlock the first 2 accessories, but thoses tied to a mastery rank didn't unlock)

Yeah fair enough. CoD titles usually have a very quick drop off in terms of support and playerbase once the new one rolls around so I see what you mean (with some exceptions such as BO3 as it was still supported a few years after launch).

I really wanted to like both this year but ultimately they fell completely flat out the gate. I'm hoping WW3 can sink its hooks in me when that comes out this week in its closed beta heh.

Not entirely sure, but I've unlocked way more than 2 for my weapons when playing.

I'm liking the game so far, I mean is not perfect, but I love the massive all out war feel, when you are attacking objectives with your team blowing stuff up it feels epic, if you are a fan of BF4 this is definitely a must play, the weather effects plus all the stuff happening around feels great, it can be a little chaotic at times but fun!

And usually when they start releasing updates and expansions they make it a lot better, also I think people are winning too much and review bombing it, just because you don't like some things about it doesn't mean is a bad game...just like it happened with the LOUS2....I think people should start enjoying more and complaining less about gaming in general

Dude...

It's okay if you're enjoying the game. No one is taking that away from you (or at least I'm not) but stop pretending that people can't be critical of a product they purchased for $60 or more. There's a whole host of issues with BF2042 and it's not just bugs or "some things that I don't like". Basic mechanics that are to be expected in a shooter released in 2021 are just completley absent. Let alone all the features that are now missing which have been present in previous Battlefield titles. It's fine if you want to overlook those (or if you didn't even notice) but people aren't "review bombing" the game because they have some secret vendetta against DICE/EA. If anything people desperately wanted BF to succeed as we've all grown tired from the competition that's getting a bit complacent to say the least...
