Wonder what Niikawa's opinion on PS4 will be if Disgaea 5 performs as poorly as early indications seem to suggest.
Perhaps Sony is helping them financially?

Based on preorder rankings at Japanese retailers.
Sony should just buy them.
Tales of Z better be on PS4 or it's being sent to die in NA
Everyone needs to pre-ordet/buy Disgaea V to fully support these actions!!
I wasn't really just talking about Nippon Ichi. Compile Heart, for example will already have two PS4 games out next month, with a third (Fairy Fencer F sequel) coming later this year. There's other stuff from smaller devs like Onechanbara Z2, Natsuiro High School, etc. as well.
Sony should just buy them.
Yep. Making their games for XBO/PC doesn't really make much business sense. There's not much an audience there to making porting worth it, especially on the Xbox side.

problem with going ps4 is that it ain't gonna be as easy to port to vita
Disgaea 4 already chugged a bit on vita... Disgaea 5 is gonna be rough.
I have to disagree when it comes to the PC at least. I can't be the only one who thinks that the Disgaea series at least would be a good fit for the PC and would buy them in a heartbeat if they ever got a PC port.
I'm pretty sure devs have said the conversion from PS4> Vita was easier than PS3> Vita.. Hopefully, that is the case..

Didn't they say they were gonna shut down if Disgaea 5 didn't hit sales expectations?
So why just focus on PS4/Vita? Is PC out of the question for these guys?

They're already refusing to develop for other platforms and Sony's broke so I'm not sure I see the logic here.
the ps4 has been doing better than usual, but it's only outsold the 3ds twice since the start of 2015.
That was a joke. They were joking.
PC is a different issue, however. Significantly more relevant in the west than in Japan, and they might not have as much Sony support if that's the direction they were to take.
That was a misunderstanding that was corrected afterwards. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=949072
Edit: Beaten x(
In weekly sales? Its beaten N3DS consistently after the first week or so, and its only recently started beating all 3DS's combined
.Good. Japan needs to stop using PS3 as a crutch.

I have to wonder if NIS is banking heavily on western sales for Disgaea 5.

I wonder how the NISA online store does for them. I've bought everything there since it launched.
i doubt that is their intention with the series. but now i think they are really hoping that nisa can find success where they couldn't.
rodea and danganronpa are three big-ish games coming out from their western counterpart this year. i wonder how much money they stand to make on just those in addition to disgaea 5. nisa's been profitable for the last decade, even last year when the japanese home base posted a loss.
I feel like this is a similar reason we've seen Idea Factory/Compile Heart move to PS4 as well. Between the success of some of their franchises in the West and the PS4's commercial success, it wouldn't surprise me if many of the smaller developers/publishers feel they can lose some sales in their home market if the West will make up for it.
