It's hard to even make sense of your writing. But there's nothing inherently tying Joel and Ellie to being white, it's a TV *adaptation* not a direct shot for shot replacement. The character is the plot arc and motives of the person, not the color of their skin.

Internally consistent means the family groups make sense, i.e in some low quality shows if there were two white parents with children of color that wouldn't make genetic sense. Everything here checks out, and it's not peddling any sort of agenda and sticking close to the reference material, so I'm not sure why the word woke even crossed your mind, just because Pedro is Chilean-American? Hm.

Characters of different cultures have long been cast by white leads and still are, so you're not just off base but off planet with this attempted rebuttal. It just becomes "woke" when a character that was white isn't in an adaptation, for super duper mysterious reasons

it's hard to make sense of yours too, because i wasn't against the cast because they didn't look like me, as you said. that was kinda rude. and you don't even know how i look. yes joel and ellie and the other characters could be of any color. but the game doesn't give the option to choose the characters colors or does it? or change other body characteristics. we got what we got, so why not keep that now?

about pedro, yeah because it seems that in america he's not considered white. so not from my perspective, because i see him as white, but from the perspective of the casting people.

well that must have been happening and still happening in every's culture cinema too. do you think that in asia or africa, for example, people have been carefully casting other cultures characters with actors from said cultures? it's not "woke" when the actor is the best fit for the character, which i feel it's the case, and not cast just for the sake having to fill quotas. don't put things on my mouth.

By people who don't know what they're talking about, yet the rest of the country and the world are very familiar with both actors are they're perceived very well.

that's not enought man, that's why famous actors still have to go through castings. they could have casted an oscar winner and i could head scratch anyway.

And The Last of Us gives more a view on human nature through loss. It's not going to be a show with a lot of pew-pew either.

It's funny that you like Andor because the same people who criticized it of not being Star Wars because it wasn't pew-pew are the people you're replicating now.
The game already does that and did it well so whatever additions the tv show makes will have a high bar to reach. It's too early to say if the tv changes are better or worse without having seen the rest of the season but so far I can easily see it becoming worse.

I've not watched Andor yet so you're talking nonsense.

More than happy with it so far. Don't know if I'd rate it this high from one episode but I feel confident it's going to get better and better.

What are you even talking about dude.

It literally does not matter at all what race a character is or was in the original. It's an adaption, there are many differences from the show to the game much like any adaption of anything ever.

These quotas you speak of literally existed for years and we would only ever see white male hench dudes and buff sexy white girls on what, 99% of videogame covers because people at publishers would not approve anything else. This is a good change, the world is not just white people like me. Get over it.

it matters because it is part of the identity of the character. if it doesn't matter to you, then you wouldn't mind having shows with characters from just one race, and you answered yourself in the next paragraph. you wouldn't like that. so it matters.
and now you're identifiyng yourself as white! dude let me grab your words and tell you that here in this forum you're just as much of a character as the characters of a show. and i like to think that i am texting with someone with different characteristcs than the ones that you are describing yourself, and that shouldn't matter to you, by your own words, so don't tell me your race please.

Who is ready for tonight?
I am ready for tonight!

Also, google "The Last of Us" (no quotes) for a small treat.
The second episode was great. Really enjoyed it. Very freaky. I'm enjoying the vibe of the show. Ellie is finally growing on me, as well.

Watched the first episode, and its absolutely brilliant. Easily the best video game adaptation, and an extremely good adaptation in general. Everything is on point. Excellent work.

I used to shit on the game but compared to the show... I'm so fucking sorry to all the people who this game meant something to them. The show is fucking GARBAGE, it's that bad I actually appreciate the game now.

Bad casting, awful sets, bad dialogue, zero fucking violence or bloodshed from a HBO show (Dropped this trash after episode 4 but that shoot out with the raiders was embarrassing with all the cut aways) and overall feels like a YouTube fan movie.

Not assed about the gay content, I experience that myself in person or go on xvideos if I need that. Have zero interest in going back once they had to add EXTRA spoon feeding and giving the black brothers more backstory and having ANOTHER boss chick be in charge who is OC. Boring.

I mean, the producers of the RE movies didn't cast actors who look like the characters either. It's probably just how the entertainment industry works nowadays...

It's not really the look, though. It's their race. If a character was say, American, and they cast a Polynesian guy, I can see why fans would think that didn't look right. But that's not being racist. It's just that the hero or villain was not Polynesian or whatever, to begin with!
There is a limited pool of actors in Hollywood. And they need to speak English fluently so no you can't just take some guy/gal from Korea or Japan.

I have no idea were the idea comes from that there are hundreds of child actors out there who look exactly like Ellie just waiting for a casting call.

It's a joke about how incels / misantrophic idiots think mandalorian was made to some weird ass pedo-trans agenda to groom their kids

Obviously, those people are batshit in sane. Pedro is a great actor and absolutely not a pedo.

I have standards for quality. Also mad? No, I just expected better from HBO. Don't get it twisted if you like trash you can like it, not the first time I've been a "minority" on this board.

Bit rude to use the old "you like this because you like shit stuff/haven't got taste" line.

You're not the arbitrator of what's good and what isn't, no-one is, we all have our different opinions on things and that's all they are just opinions, no-one is superior to another based on their taste.

That being said I'm somewhat in-between both camps, I think overall it's been a good show with a lot of room for improvement. Episodes like 1, 3, 5 and 8 have all been standouts with a lot of filler between them in my opinion, they haven't handled the pacing all too well and have taken too long with certain plot points (Left Behind) and then completely breezed through sections like the winter etc.

Another criticism I have is whilst understanding the lack of action and/or clickers, they've went too far with trying to avoid that side of affairs, it would've improved the show to include more of the show's main antagonists in the infected.

That being said, I think the show has shown enough promise to deserve a second season and I'm hoping they can build on this season, it's no Succession, Better Call Saul or even Severance, but it can definitely get around the same ballpark as those shows if they continue to build on what works.

Never played TLOU2. Wonder if Sony will ever get off its ass and port it to Steam. I can understand 6 month exclusivity but it has been two years.

All of the Joel and Ellie scenes are so unearned because they decided to spend nearly every on screen moment during the first 6 episodes on backstory, side characters, plot changes, and pretty much everything except Joel and Ellie. There were a few scenes ripped right from the game that were excellent, but the impact was limited because I just can’t believe in their relationship. I can because I played the game, but I don’t see how anyone else can feel much for either character with how much limited time we’ve spent with them.

It would be forgivable if there wasn’t source material right there. Instead Hollywood wants to Hollywood, rather than telling the compelling story that began all of this.

I played both games three times each and I remember perfectly that there were some infected enemies and clickers, but maybe I'm wrong because they are nowhere in the TV Show 🤷‍♂️

Part 1 is out on PC at the end of the month.

Part 2 will likely be 6+ months after that at minimum. Or maybe when the second season is released.

They are simply more dangerous in the show which shows higher stakes. Every encounter has had grave consequence and someone getting infected.

It avoid the trouble of the walking dead where they pose no threat.

Obviously some people prefer more and some less. Hard to please everyone.

I'd like a bit more TBF but I do like that infected encounters are very hard to survive.

three last episodes were lackluster. the game did it better.

The game became a masterpiece to me with the ellie section....the show didn't reach the same highs.

They used a filler episode for 3 and took a subtle hint at the gayness of Bill from the game and turned it into an hour long love fest (also them driving away peacefully into the sunset in Bill's truck instead of frantically trying to escape from a massive horde of Clickers was annoying). The side DLC 'Left Behind' was stuffed in there as well, and although that's from the actual game, it pushed aside the other parts of the story. I don't know how they're going to cram the rest of the story into one last episode, but they really had some unnecessary things here. If they wanted to do extra stuff like that, they should have made this 11 or 12 episodes, not 9. The bonding of Joel and Ellie has been sacrificed for some rather pointless crap. I'm glad they're finally getting close, but it feels rushed.
