Right, what's the tool that makes you not get stuck in a random bush or get stunlocked even by low level enemies? Or better yet, what's the bow that correctly predicts when a machine suddenly does a 180º in positioning due to poor behavior programing?

It's not that hard to accept that this game has some issues that makes it less enjoyable, every game has.
I’ve completed the game and I haven’t got a clue what you are complaining about . The ranged combat is awesome and made all the more precise by being able to slow time to hit some of the smaller machine parts. I don’t recall ever getting stuck in a bush. I suppose if you went into combat without any spacial awareness or tactics, then you could easily become a cropper. Set traps and other devices to protect you from getting overwhelmed. All the tools are there to make combat fairly straightforward.

I've just beat the game last night, and while I did really enjoy my time with the game, there are some things that disappointed me.

The fact that you don't see any affects of Gaia getting her sub functions in the game world is disappointing. I know the main reason for getting the 3 functions were to make Gaia more powerful, but it feels empty turning in a sub function, and that all that's to it.

Maybe this is something that was meant to be implemented and they didn't have the time.

It's like how you hear some NPC's talk about big storms, but you don't really actually experience one.

More about Gaia. It also disappointing that after you beat the game, get Gaia and most of her sub functions, but nothing in the world changes. It makes Gaia feel like just a hollow plot device

Still a great game over all and I would definitely still recommended it.

Finished it which is saying something I rarely finish games. HZD 1 I think was a better game. The plot and enemy variety was better but I think I just didn’t care for all the companions. That being said HZD2 is still a fantastic game and I loved my time with it. Hoping HZD3 is more story driven and less companion driven if that makes sense. I also didn’t like how Sylens was hardly in the game.

Just finished the main quest and got the Plat, was loving the story until...

The very 20 final minutes, that stuff with Nemesis, Tilda betraying you and everything else was so forced, jeez. It seems the writers didn't even know how to properly tide up the plot in a natural way.
It's actually hilarious that the main conflict of the story, which was the climate change, isn't even really resolved according to GAIA; you basically get to the ending and accomplish nothing.

Loved all the characters but Aloy. She just doesn't go anywhere, there's no character arc, no development, no nothing, feels like a complete Mary Sue. Even Beta had more personality and emotion with her few scenes.

If you just run through the main missions shouldn't take too long. Can't say concrete hour number cause my perception is distorted by spending so much time doing other shit inbetween those missions.

Where the fuck is the greenshine slab on the stratosphere? The game keeps sending me over here to upgrade a weapon but I've been up and down the entire thing several times and there is nothing here. I've been up to the very top and I dont see anything. Is this a glitch?

I just got the slab on top of it. Fly up and drop down next to the top antenna and it's there.

Came back to it after completing Elden Ring and... meh. After having a 5 star meal, it feels like I went back to eat at McDonalds. Going to at least finish and get the platinum, but this feels like a solid 5/10 at this point. Very, very average.

Dude you have to teach me, wasn’t you that finished Kena in 4 hours?

100 hours? Only took me 37 to Platinum it.
  • Approximate amount of time to platinum: 30 hours if doing trophy-relevant tasks only and playing on story difficulty, ignoring all other side tasks (~50% overall completion required) / 40 hours if playing on Normal and doing more side tasks than needed

It's kind of normal as i can see, but to me 37h for the whole game feel like doing Resident Evil 2 Remake in 15 minutes.

Playing at Very Hard, i like to explore every inch of the environments to loot every chest/collectible seen by the Focus, do every side quest and listen to every dialogue.. still doing different things every single minute of the playthrough anyway.

I honestly believe 37hours is close to the time required to listen to every dialogue alone..

I climbed it earlier in the game and might have already collected it then. When you set a job for upgrade resources, does it sometimes still point to resources you've already collected?

100 hours and only half way through is insane. the game isnt that big.

I took my time to explore and farm for legendary weapons and still finished right around the 50 hour mark. Pretty much the same as the last game.

I can't recall ever seeing this. But slabs are many places, you should be able to get it elsewhere. Try going to a different place on the map and re-activate the quest?

Yes it does cuz I remember always going in the same spot several times for a slab even tho it wasnt there because I collected it but the marker kept showing it there, tho I remember seeing them fix it, guess not...

New patch is out and fixes some bugs. Shimmering issue is still being investigated but they claim to have reduced it some more.

I dont think they will ever get rid of shimmering at this rate. It's clear that the shimmering is mostly due to the insanely low resolution of the performance which could be as low as 1080p seeing as how dynamic res is in play here. And there is no way they can find enough performance to push the resolution to 1440p where it wouldnt be an issue. I am playing Elden Rings on PC at 1440p, no shimmering anywhere. Graphics look like shit but its a clean image because 1440p on 4k tvs is good enough. 1080p on the other hand looks like shit and thats the problem with this game in Performance mode because in fidelity mode, the foliage looks STUNNING. There is so much of it that it makes me literally stop and take notice at times. It extends really far away in the distance too unlike in other games like Ghost of Tsushima where LOD is very aggressive for anything 50 yards or so in front of you.

I would love to play this game on my RTX 2080. The PS5 GPU is roughly comparable to this GPU in standard rasterization so if I cant run it at 1440p 60 fps then I will understand that the game is simply very demanding, but if i can then there is some bottleneck in the PS5 somewhere because you shouldnt have to go all the way down to 1080p from native 4k just to get 60 fps.

Other changes are some machine cooldowns but cant make sense of them. I figured they would make them less aggressive but it doesnt look like thats what they are doing here.

Machines:
• Reduced Stagger, Recovery and Taunt durations where excessive idle frames were present for Specter, Dreadwing, Tremortusk, Clamberjaw, Slaughterspine.
• Increased cooldown for staggers to fix staggerloops on Specter Prime, Specter, SlaughterSpine, Dreadwing, Tideripper, Slitherfang, Shellsnapper, and Rollerback.
• Slight decrease of Shock State duration for all medium and large robots.
• Fixed bug on the corrosive State critical damage multiplier, reduced bugged value.
• Slaughterspine: Increased the duration of the Plasma state.
• Tideripper: Fixed bug where some elemental attacks were not disabled during water state.
Humans:
• Regalla/Asera/Enduring: Fixed a bug where ranged attacks did not target correctly, which caused arrows to miss very easily.
• Eclipse Heavy Humanoids: Fixed bug that armor and resistances weren’t matching their level, increased their armor values.
• Heavy Humanoids: Fixed the bug that rage state didn’t reduce damage.
Weapons/Armor:
• Legendary Weapons: Lowered starting base stats to match weapons within the earliest acquirement tier.
• Legendary Armors: Lowered starting base stats to match weapons within the earliest acquirement tier.

I’ve be waiting for the fix in perfomance mode to play the game,it’s much better than before,i guess they can’t do much more to it…. Still early in game (pass first zone). The Red blight it’s the worst in shimmering for me.

Finally tried the new patch and it still has really poor IQ in performance mode.

Some of the story cutscenes have jaggies crawling all over like they are at 720p thanks to the lack of AA. Even the 4k mode can have really obvious jaggies which is not something I was expecting after playing other PS5 or even multiplatform open world games.

I've been really impressed with the IQ of console games this gen as it was one area where the PS4 was so far behind PC it wasn't even a fair contest but it's much closer now so this game is a real shocker.

I can't play at 30fps now. Fair play if you can but it's 60fps+ or bust for me. It's made me realise why I couldn't play with a controller in the PS3 era as 30fps just doesn't work for me with analogue sticks. Put it to 60fps and it's like going from very hard to normal difficulty.

I guess I'll be a lot more discerning about buying stuff on console going forward but hopefully this is a one off thanks to the old engine they had to use.

It's like a modded PC game. The textures look great but there are things in the engine that you can't hide like all the pop-in, flickering shadows, really basic lighting and the terrible image quality thanks to lacking something like the TAA they use in Insomniac games.

Yes you do. There wont be any more red stuff all over the place, for example in Plainsong its all green, ppl are singing along with the machines, etc. I think there are other changes as well tho not sure.

So it's not just me. I thought the image looked incredibly soft and the AA (or lack thereof) really makes the vegetation look much worse than it should. I would have preferred 1440p with some sort of AA solution as opposed to this as it looks significantly worse when compared to Horizon Zero Dawn on my PC.

So side by side looks blurrier in 1.09 but maybe just a sharpening filter as they suggested the dynamic res was a bit higher now.

The grass and trees don't move in the 1.09 video which I honestly prefer as I found it a bit over the top and your eyes aren't drawn to them quite so much but it doesn't really matter too much once you start moving the camera as the vegetation still looks really aliased.

It's a shame as it is a good game outside of the terrible climbing but definitely the worst looking 60fps mode I've seen yet and I just can't do 30fps any more especially in something that needs precise aiming.

i hate how they nerfed the vegetation movement. Looked way nicer before, world looked more alive...

What i hate the most about this is the fact that they keep downgrading the resolution mode as well. That mode looked stunning at launch as long as you turned off motion blur and camera sensitivity. It didn’t need a downgrade in sharpness. The fact that they keep downgrading it with every single fucking patch is a straight up scam. I did not buy this version of the game and now I’m forced to play a heavily downgraded version. I stupidly bought the digital copy so can’t play it without patching it or trade it in.

I have always disliked devs tinkering with their released versions. I’m still bitter about uncharted 2s patch 1.4. Still upset over the lighting downgrade of AC origins and now this greatest looking game of all time has now been downgraded three times since launch.

They should release a third setting called beta and do all their changes in that mode. Leave the original modes intact because it is clear even the performance mode doesn’t look any better. The foliage in this game looked so sharp before. Now it is just ps4 quality. It is really depressing stuff.

also the foliage barely moves anymore. Just give us a toggle for that and the sharpening and problem is fixed.

It's lower than PS4 quality. I kid you not, this game is so blurry at times, it reminds me of GTA 4 for PS3. It honestly looks like somebody just smeared Vaseline all over the screen and makes the image look absolutely terrible. I really have no idea how this patch ever passed certification.

The 60 fps version yeah that was always really really bad. I have played a lot of 1080p 60 fps games on my Pro. Infamous Second Son, SOTC, GOW, KZSF and nothing looked this bad.

I totally agree. This really does look worse than the original Horizon Zero Dawn on my PS4 Pro. I was blown away by that game and there's so much detail lost in this game because of the blurriness. I watched the YouTube video that was posted by a previous poster and my gosh, patch 1.04 looked so much better. I remember watching DF just gush about this game and playing this as it is all but confirms that image quality is significantly worse than it was at launch.

My son is playing the new Uncharted 4 remaster. I changed the resolution to 1080p to enable the 120 fps mode and it still looks way cleaner than this Horizon 60 fps patch. I saw him play the open world Madacasgar level then the chase sequence and now hes on that island with foliage everywhere. I dont see any jaggies. Definitely not as sharp as the native 4k or 1440p 60 fps mode but it doesnt look like the jaggied blurry mess Horizon's 60 fps mode is.

I have no idea how GG of all teams can allow a game to be shipped in this state. They are the cream of the crop. Or were. I wouldnt be surprised if their A team talent is working on the next gen new IP and its just a bunch of interns trying to get this 60 fps version sorted out. The way they have bungled the 30 fps version makes me think they have no idea what they are doing.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I almost wonder if maybe it's not so much that they don't have the right team on it as it is just a lack of technical talent in the industry. I've always read that a lot of employees were leaving the industry and maybe we're starting to see the consequences now because it's not just that this is a blurry mess, but also the fact that this is basically nothing more than Horizon Zero Dawn 1.5 with very little innovation. I'm shocked at how similar it is to the first one and then the number of bugs I encountered in the first play area which is just not par for the course for the level of quality I've come to expect from Sony's first party studios.

Just finished the game and went back to look at the announcement trailer, the graphics got downgraded hard!!!

Underwater looks plain, lighting took a hit, lod’s got mushy and poppy, and only the closest foliage moves. Final game looks nothing spectacular like this but still looks good.

  • Reduced the amount of animation on foliage such as clovers, sorrel and the red cover grass to over distance to reduce noise.

Where are you getting this information from? I need the exact source.

What your posting is not in the official patch notes.

Well, in 30 fps mode it looks like the best looking game out right now so clearly the talent is there. Though like the post below points out, the game got downgraded hard after the first reveal.

It could be that everyone senior in the company is on vacation after working five years on a game and the rookie employees have no idea what to do other than downgrade some settings. Though that doesnt explain why the game shipped with such an awful 60 fps mode. I also think the game was very similar to the first which is very surprising considering it was in development for five years. Longer than it took Cory Barlog to reboot God of War. It's absolutely bizarre that there is no aerial combat. It's bizarre that they add grapple to the game and dont let you grapple anywhere. It's bizarre that the game got a massive downgrade after the first trailer even though they had 10 rdna 2.0 tflops available to get it running on a PS5. Like wtf is the point of saying that trailer was captured on a PS5 when you are gonna downgrade it anyway? Like who thought it was a good idea to mocap and animate dozens of hours of pointless sidequest dialogue trees? Why was so much of the budget and time spent on that instead of adding new features? The fact that the final game doesnt feature the state of play mission is straight up weird like why would you do this? Not to mention the graphics downgrade from that gameplay demo too. If the lighting is too costly then just reduce the resolution to 1800p and get 40% GPU power back. Why make the game look worse just to hit some arbitrary native 4k 30 fps target?

I dont know whats going on over at GG tbh. Wouldnt be surprised if this game was in development hell.
