Wow, those Japanians sure love their Tales games. Didn't Tales of Legendia just recently come out, though?

Damn?! That's first day. You sure?

I thought usually they release (1 week sales) which--given how games usually come out on Thursday equates to like 3-4 days of sales.

But regardless, holy shit at Tales!

Didn't MGS3:S come out this week?

Not sure, but Metal Gear Ac!d 2 fuckin bombed, It debuted lower than a few 360 titles :lol

Although it's not representative of Subsistance since Acid plays so much different (which probably alienated the JPN fans)

Typically first week sales account for 75% of the total sales for Tales games.
Also, FFIV is expected to have sold 100k over the weekend, including bundle.

Matrix is big in Japan?

Also, in regard to Japan, isn't 1st to 3rd day sales account 75% of total sales for nearly all titles?

Not bad for yet another Tales game 3 in 2 years...

FF4 didn't do as well as I expected though, thought it would sell at least 150K easy during the first week.

The blog reports are usually much more conservative in their reports.

I hope FFIV Advance does better than Dawn of Souls because DoS had been riding off the PSone ports and the WSC versions sold around 250K. DoS sold about 270K in Japan IIRC.

Destiny 2 - PS2
Rebirth - PS2
Legendia - PS2
Abyss - PS2
Symphonia - PS2
Symphonia - GC
Phantasia - GBA

Spin offs -

Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage -GBA
Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 - GBA
Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 - GBA

Rebirth did 334k in its first 4 days and ended at 595k...so Abyss has a good chance of surpassing those numbers with 280k only on day 1. At least, it should break that 4 days mark.

324 000 for Tales of Rebirth in first day (Media Create).
MC doesn't give 1st day sales...

Again, I looked for numbers again:

ToR sold 335k on 4 days (ended at 595k famitsu, 600k namco)
ToD2 sold 446k in the same time <-- best tales ps2 seller (ended at ~700-800 i don't remember now)

I've said before that I honestly don't care if namco milks the Tales series. It's fun as hell. BRING IT ON. :D

Holy crap, I didn't realize the Tales series was still doing so well in Japan.

I'd say 70,000 sold is pretty damn good for a 15 year old game with slightly juiced up graphics, some extras here and there, etc. o_O
Would someone care to dig up the numbers for the SMB re-re-(re?)-release that came out to coincide with the Famicom Micro?

I'm not trying to compare the titles, but you'd be surprised at how much re-releases can actually sell.

Never underestimate Final Fantasy re-releases... How many times have FF 1&2 being re-released for the past 5 years now? The WSC, PS1, and GBA. All of them sold decent amount...
