This game has a big hill to climb for sure. Overwatch, over time, tricked me into thinking I didn't like non-BR competitive multiplayer anymore. However, after playing games like Splitgate, Halo, Call of Duty(non-BR), and even Overwatch's arcade mode itself, it's not that I didn't like competitive multiplayer anymore, it's that the way Blizzard structures it's competitive mode is too exhausting. In the games I've mentioned, any of their modes on the playlist are get in, get out, 5 to 10 minute matches at most. You're done, but you feel good enough after that short amount of time that you move on to the next playlist, map or game. It's curious Overwatch 2 doesn't have it's own tab in the Battle net client, and there is still no preorder for it. They'll put up WoW expansions for preorder over a year in advance. There must be something with the pricing they don't want out yet. I bet they want a full $60 for OW2(PVE) which would be laughable.
The OW2 PVP Beta Client just says Overwatch in the title bar.
I'm sure overwatch 2 is going to have more than 1 new hero. They will probably trickle new content until release.Blizzard is a wreck of it's past-self and so is Overwatch.
OW2 is NOT even a DLC, it's free updates (4 maps, 1 mode & 1 hero) that should've released years before with a PVE expansion disguised as a paid full prive sequel.
I'm pretty sure project Titan was developed by 80 to 100s of people, while OW2 was developed by 30-40 people max, and it's not gonna save the game, the balance and matchmaking are already completely fucked, they ruined all the subtle chemistry of the TvT gameplay and ruined some characters like Bastion or Sombra.

In Overwatch you're pushing an objective for upwards of 10-20 minutes, plus overtime, then playing against the same people again on defense while they push that can also lead to another 10-20 minutes, plus overtime. You've essentially put 20 to 40 minutes into one match, and if you lose after putting that much time in, it's one of the most frustrating feelings ever. Overwatch 1 Comp gave me nearly the same terrible time I had when playing League of Legends. That's not good. Their arcade modes play like what I actually want their competitive modes to play like. TDM, DM, and CTF Blitz(not regular CTF) all have 10 minute match times and rarely do you get into overtime on each.
I'm hoping with 5v5 now, slightly less time, and less focus on tanks, we end up with better and faster matches overall.
I mean, it's a legitimate marketing tactic?I hate this "You'll get beta access if you watch twitch streamers so we can boast how good our twitch numbers are!" has become the norm.
I agree with your overall point, but I'd argue that it wasn't just 2CP. I've had plenty of Escort/Cart matches that at worst lasted nearly 40 to 60 minutes overtime, due to a combination of too many tanks, too many healers, dual lucios, DPS not doing a good enough job on both sides, and other factors(like people getting in personal grudge matches instead of doing objective). Matches would even at least last 20 to 30 minutes in Overwatch League when watching them do cart. It is a problem. In OW2, 2CP will be gone, and that is the play mode that took the most time. It was also the one the majority of the playerbase hated the most. Comp will be better just by the virtue of that mode being gone. It remains to be seen if "Push" is equally as frustrating or not. I doubt it will be since the mode won't be about choke points from what I've played. 2CP relied on frustratingly painful chokepoints to slam your head into for 20 minutes, and those matches had a semi-decent chance of ending in a draw as well.
I hate being stuck together with a team for a long time because if you get pissy players, it's agonizing. Overwatch had a ton of them in Comp. It's why I just play QP. Overwatch really is on the low end of things when it comes to time for their competitive mode. CS and Valorant have even longer matches, and it's something I won't even bother trying getting into due to it.
Congrats, I guess?
Weird flex.
Sure, however them boasting about numbers makes 0 impact on people with a functioning brain.I hate this "You'll get beta access if you watch twitch streamers so we can boast how good our twitch numbers are!" has become the norm.
Most of the viewers were bots who farm those keys and than sell it ^^It's back at 40k viewers.
Let it die already.
There is definitly interest, but considering how essentially the biggest changes are a new character named Soldier spelt by a dyslexic and one less player per team....
Yeaaaaaah OK, wonder if Microsoft will force them to rethink once the buyouts done and dusted and just release it as an update instead.
Show any overwatch 2 gameplay on an old map and ask a player to spot the diffrence, they will really struggle.
Damn how is Halo still so high on there i thought Halo Infinite was a dead game lolIf you combine Overwatch 1(18.3k viewers) and Overwatch 2(7.1k viewers) which puts total viewers at 25.4. Overwatch as a whole is outside the top 20 categories on Twitch. That's a pretty bad showing. The beta isn't even a week old yet. It's barely ahead of Dead by Daylight which is an extremely old game.
Still dead. It's back at 1.5k-ish total viewers.Damn how is Halo still so high on there i thought Halo Infinite was a dead game lol
