Sony cracks down on sexual content in games.

Prior to today's reveal, Omega Labyrinth Life was only announced for the Switch. From a purely technical standpoint, the game is sporting identical specs on both consoles, making it a perfect candidate to see whether consumers will support a Switch release over the PS4.

What's potentially concerning, however, is the game's publisher might not be confident consumers of the franchise will follow it to Nintendo's platform, necessitating the creation of the PS4 alternative. Hopefully the Switch version will demonstrate the ability to support the franchise and ideally find itself the sales winner; because otherwise, one could easily see the publisher forgoing the cost of creating two versions of future sofware and dolefully submitting to Sony's censorship policies.

I wish they'd have more faith and release physical releases of these games. We're back to where we were a few years ago when niche releases were largely digital. I had to import five or six Musou games from the UK because of this. I thought we were past digital-only titles.

None of my game has censored so i dont care
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

They shouldn't censor anything. Let the creators do whatever they want to do.

I'm not sure where you're finding this information. If true, then it would be a positive sign, but at the moment only really indicative of Moero Chronicles Hyper performing well enough for its publisher, as a digital-only, reduced priced, re-release of an older game.

Omega Labyrinth Life is a new title, with two competing versions and an uncensored Switch edition selling at what's roughly the equivalent of a $20 premium. While it'd be better if both versions of the game were identically priced, the simple fact that the Switch iteration isn't listed as being technically inferior makes it a good subject to see whether consumers will support these types of products on the Switch over the PS4. Otherwise, the most comparative instance to date would probably be Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet, which (unless this has changed) sold better on the PS4.

It was on the top selling list via eshop for like a month. Omega isn't even coming to the west and it was only announced for Japan. But I also want a physical cart. Also you have to take into account how many ps4 systems there are in customers hands over the switch.

While positive, there isn't any hard information to be extrapolated from Moero Chronicles Hyper's appearance on the eShop Best Sellers, whereas the conditions surrounding the release of Omega Labyrinth Life are also quite different. At the moment, there's little comparison to be made between the one's actual sales and the other's potential performance.

Also, please keep in mind I'm not questioning whether people will purchase Omega Labyrinth Life on Switch; what I'm curious to see is whether sales will be good enough to justify the creation of similar titles in the future and if the Switch version can potentially beat the PS4 edition.

I take it more as a declaration of war against Sony. This Dev is telling them their games will not suffer in any way in other consoles that don't force censorship on them. I hope more follow, while I know for a fact it won't impact Sony much it will give us the choice of not having to only have the choice of a censored product in all platforms and maybe somewhere in the future the dumb asses that are pushing for censorship are out of a job.

In another place when this first started I was banned for saying that this is a bad slope to start on, and told that means that I support child porn somehow. I think that it is a poor look for them to choose this path and even though I have been a huge Sony mark since Sega folded console making if another system has a sack to stand their ground I will switch like the quickness. It disturbs me how killing and gore and murder and maiming are all great and fun but tits and sex scare the fuck out of some people.

The more I think about this, the less of an issue I have with it. I mean, I guess if I was still an adolescent, I would be upset. I remember what it was like to be that age. But as a 51 year-old guy, I just don't care about nudity in games. I play games to have fun, not be titillated.

Then just don't play games with sexy design, I don't understand why it should get censored for people who do enjoy it.

Though then censored content ratio is differ (OLL much higher than DOAXS), the end result will no much differ with DOAXS sales ratio in Japan because:

1. Japanese demographic for consoles:
- Switch dominated by Child
- While PS4 by Young adult

2. In the past OL brand always been associated by Sony's so it's safe to assume that all the OL fans already have a Vita/PS4

3. Really doubt a lot of fans will buy the Switch just for 1-2 games. So until PS5 release or until Japanese demographic for Switch change expect a lot of games will still be multiplatform release.

4. So PS5 is the true test how much Sony policy will affect sales because it's a new consoles, so the old time fans who already have PS4/Vita will choose buying Switch if this policy still persist until PS5 launch

In this instance, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion the PS4 version of Omega Labyrinth Life will dominate sales. With the PS4 & Switch versions reportedly featuring technical parity but significant content differences, the question is does a combination of increased Switch console sales and attrition on the part of PS4 owners, due to content omissions & alterations, lead to the game performing better on Nintendo's platform. Unfortunately, there's the wild-card factor of the PS4 version being around $20 cheaper, which is to say nothing of disproportionate sales that could result from any limited edition with random chotskies.

In any case, the game will be interesting to watch, because it's the first instance of a title that is supposed to be identical from a technical standpoint, but several months prior to release has revealed significant content differences. Even if the PS4 garners the lion's share of sales, I imagine some companies will be eager to see how many copies moved on the Switch.

They need that division to survive. That’s why they are heavily invested in the PS business, but with this censorship, who knows what will happen?

Censorship will be like cross play and not having bc on ps4, it will not affect their sales at all. With tht said its still good ppl voice their opinions because I'm against censorship as well and if enough ppl make an issue it'll cause them to reevaluate their stance.

What about those horny teenagers then? Are we gonna not giving them the same choice?

It will not affect their sales (maybe), still can make a good dent on dev's pocket though. See DoA5 for example.

Different strokes for different folks. I'm nearly 40 and I find titillation to be a fantastic way to make a game/movie pleasant after a long day of work. Not everyone jacks it to every sexy person they see, some of us just like being in their company (even if it's just vicariously).
