Don't forget Shinken Red literally living on water because he got paid so poorly.

Its no secret. Drive's actor came out pretty publically (on tv) about his being underpaid. Kind of funny cause he was on a show last night and they replayed the clip.
Someone should do an MMPR style walkout and leave during the middle of the season or better around ep. 40 when they start bulding up to the finale and tell Toei to suck it.
I wouldn't even mind if it's a season I like, I just want to see the meltdowns and how they scramble to replace the main character close to the end.

bad gameplay lol

They'd probably never work again, though.

I mean, I agree, but the personal risk to the actor for doing something like that is pretty high.

That was a rare thing. I would think it would be a huge risk for those people, even if it needs to be done.

Several have retired relatively shortly after their series anyway. Magishine became a teacher, Gosei Black a lawyer etc., if they already have other plans they don't have anything to lose and could decide to leave making some noise.

a non-issue for toku actors

Thats the big lie though isn't it?

They sell nichiAsa as a way to kickstart your career, but it only really happens to some kamen riders, barely any super sentai. You basically get sent through the ringer and in the end nothing to show for it.

It's fucked up really, but like this is one aspect of the larger problem that is the Japanese entertainment industry:

Again, that seemed to happen with Hana's actress, she barely did anything in the industry afterwards before completely dropping off.

I wonder how much bullshit the really successful toku actors had to put up with during/after their shows.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
The popular rumor was she was basically paid off so she wouldn't speak out against seuxal harassment, which is pretty messed up if true.

There's that "Curse of the Kamen Rider" comic that puts that forth. Though I dislike how of all the horrible shit that happens in that like the guys house burning down and one ending up homeless they make a big deal about Kenzaki's actor just doing some light gay porn.

Yeah, that manga really flourished a lot of things.

About Shinkenred's actor...I'm not the least bit surprised that Toei would be cheap enough to underpay their main actor, but him having to live on water and scraps was a real shock. Thankfully he seems to have a much more steady career as a model now, but he also says that he's been rather lonely lately so I hope he's doing okay.

Photography was not allowed for possibly the biggest reveal of the event – brand new Legacy figures! These will be 6 inches in scale (so on par with your S.H. Figuarts characters), feature extensive articulation, detailed paint applications, and will release later this year! They will release three assortments (waves) a year, and each year will feature two seasons worth. The first year’s releases will be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Ninja Storm.

good Zedd figure finally coming?

Boss Doggie

Oh so there's an eagle zyuman eh? wonder where the gorilla come from

(humans are zyumans too?)

Most of them. Sentai/Kamen Rider is essentially an internship. It's the "do this for exposure" of the film world.

Sometimes I think it's a miracle we get returning (non-voice) actors, I do appreciate when most do decide to come back for guest role/cameo...or even do a voice over in video games.

By the way, congrats on the mod position.

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
Weren't they talking about a figuarts Zedd? I took the comment at the time being more of a , if you're loud enough about it maybe.

Wait, what MMPR walk out? I thought the only walk out that happened were in filming the crossover special in LGxLSR

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger 1

Finally, a Red that isn't an idiot. Plus, he's a good actor. Loving his weapon too (it's like Ivy from Soul Calibur).
Of the Zyumans so far, Leo is the best. He's so likable. Amu is adorable as well.
Also, best monster growth method ever. Though the use of coins does remind me of the medals in OOO.
This feels like the Year of the Furry. Along with Zootopia and the current One Piece arc (which might be coming to an end soon, but we'll see). I hope PR doesn't skip over this season.

He's referring to Austin St. John, Thuy Trang and Walter Jones leaving the show in protest of their low pay. Austin was the first to do it, skipping out on ADR sessions (which is why starting in Missing Green, he has a really bad sounding imitator). Thuy and Walter joined him and when they couldn't settle on a good contract, they all left. Hence the whole "Peace Conference" thing.

Oh didn't know it involved walking out. I knew they didn't like the low pay but I thought they just quit rather than walking out in mid-filming.

I love this.
Holy shit.

I made a spare for me to shop the face of people onto the dude and girl. Maybe put James Chen's face on the guy and Cammy's face on the girl and shop the belt to look like the SFV box before it shoots out the condom...
You are the MVP, shaowebb.

My reactions as the episode goes:

- Cool opening!
- ....wwwwoow at the rainbow-cube-portal CG...
- Zyuland looks pretty cool.
- So many reaction images are going to come out of those characters.
- ELEPHANT ON ELEPHANT
- Villains are giving me a Gokaiger vibe.
- Wowa, Sauron got the Megabuster.
- SHINING NIPPLES
- Is this the arcade themed tokusatsu I've been waiting for!?
- Cube steering wheels. Obviously.
- HAHAHA Cube Lion looks ridiculous.
- The cubes rolling around like some kind of accident are giving us cooler mech action than most of sentai, what the fuck
- GIANT NAIL OUT OF NOWHERE. The POV camera was cool, reminds me of the GaoGaiGar transformation sequence.
- Cube Tiger flailing the paws to throw random energy projectiles is hilarious
- Weak ass finisher, the way the sword caught some rings of fire around itself when they clashed it was more interesting.
- "NINGEEEEEENNNN"
- Zzzzzz ending theme, the gimmick with the animal/zoo is something I would like if I was a kid though

Zyuohger looks promising, but I hope it doesn't get to the point where I end up dropping it a couple of episodes later. I normally don't complete a lot of Sentai (outside of Kakuranger, Gokaiger, and Kyoryuger), so I'm hoping it can keep my attention.

Is Eagle the only Zyuohger that's getting anything unique? He has a Whip Sword and a Gorilla Form Change, while the others don't get anything unique to them outside of the Unleashed powers.

Promising first episode. The effects were nice, let's see how they'll downgrade them as the series goes on. The action was nice, and their "Abare Mode" is pretty cool too. Why they have to use Shinny Nipples to get them, I dunno, heh.

The enemy base reminds me a bit of Gokaiger, but the Arcade theme is interesting. Even the monster grow up method fits well with their theme. Leader looks cool. The enemies having flying ships as older sentai is a cool touch, as well.

The giant fight... was good, actually. The cubes are cooler than I thought they would be at first. The robot in action is also good, let's see how messy it'll get when they put more and more animals on it.

...that Elephant on Elephant thing, is it like that Pluto and Goofy thing?

The opening was very good. Ending dance was ok, I guess. The robot dancing was funny.

Eagle
Zyuman will be the 6th?
Elephant will be Yamato's tsundere best friend? Lion is a cool guy, and while Tiger and Shark didn't do much, they look good too.

Music was super good in Jyuouger and the episode actually kept my attention well. Has a 6th member been foreshadowed so early before? I don't remember. I mean we always know one is coming, but we don't see the foreshadowing right away.

Gingaman's first has the only foreshadowing for a sixth I can think off.

...Decade (the series) ends with a cliffhanger? Seriously? Well, anyway... just the movie to go. Will watch it at the weekend.

Even without the movie, I think I can say... Decade had it's cool moments, but in general was the worst Kamen Rider I watched. Tsukasa was... I dunno, sometimes he was a Tendou wannabe, sometimes he's a joke (and that's when his character is good), most of the times he was just an asshole. His actor wasn't good. Natsumi was bad. Yuusuke and Kaitou were ok, even good sometimes. Grandpa was ok too.

The series... was kinda of a mess. Some good arcs (Kabuto, Den-O, Hibiki, Black), some horrible ones (Kiva and Amazon in special), other that were just meh. Some of the fanservice was very good (Ootoya! Kotaro! The Kabuto episode, that even not using any of the original actors, had an atmosphere close to the series, and grandma), but... that was it. There was no plot for most of the series. And that would be ok, if they didn't give clues that there was something more behind everything.

Did you watch the special version of episode 31 at least (the one that ends
with the Rider War dream coming true, rather than just the 8 Heisei Riders appearing
)? The original episode 31's ending (and the movie teaser at the end) basically leads nowhere since the final movie was heavily changed during production (they were going to make a standalone Decade and a W movie, but then merged both into the single Movie Wars 2010 crossover, which sidelines Decade in the crossover part). The special version of episode 31 tweaks the ending, removing most scenes related to dropped plot points from the movie.

Oh Sentai giant battles, what should we do to make you cool? The sword slashing finisher motion remains the same since ages, only now with updated visual effects.
