Wow, you were quick. Was just about to post it.

Might be the first TF movie ive watched in a while. Missing Gary Chalk but looks like this version of primal is a very different character anyway. So i can live without it. Also still trying to figure out what the plot of this thing is going to be. They have been surprisingly quiet.

But remember Hasbro. If your gonna introduce BW Megatron into this, you gotta get David Kaye.

I forgot that I knew the names of all these characters. Or at least what they were called in the Beast Wars show. I have a soft spot, so I'll probably watch this even though I don't really like what I've seen from these movies.

Beast Wars was one of my favorite Transformer shows. Think I'm going to have to check this one out.

I don't care what kinda continuity errors it will cause, but they MUST bring back John Cena as Peacemaker for this!!

And damn, who do you get to voice a gorilla transformer in 2022? Oh, I see it's Ron Perlman.

I never really followed primal, but what is even the rationale for animal autobots? The insecticons, yeah, they were silly but just fun and they super transformed. But WTF does a gorilla, probably what, a cheetah, a hyena(?), a rhino, and probably an elephant, and....hippo? maybe? even do? These overly complicated messy robots are still hard to differentiate by silhouette or color scheme. They gotta walk back that Bay digital junkyard look.

Bumblebee was ok and I loved Beast Wars as a kid so I guess I'm in.

Is the cgi really crappy or is it just me?

It's still like 7 months away so the CG is probably unfinished.
But yeah it looks weird. The CG itself doesn't look bad but it's not blending well with the environments.

I give it 10 years before we get a live acrion (well, CGI mostly) remake of the 80's movie, complete with Galvatron because they really seem to have NO FUCKING CLUE where to go with this series.

Wish Beast Wars had gotten its own film series without the need of the G1 Autobots present. Like, this still looks fun, but BW is easily my favorite Transformers cartoon so I wanted them to stand on their own in a film.

Like, I didn’t grow up on G1, so when I finally saw it in my 20’s, the merchandise pandering (let’s introduced several dozen characters in the pilot alone! And then when kids have bought them all, we’ll kill off most of them in a movie and bring in a new cast to make even more toys!) was painfully obvious to me. TF Animated I saw a few episodes of, I liked how badass Starscream was, but I was kind of bored by how episodic it was, though I hear Season 3 is some of the best TF stuff out there. I watched most of TF Prime, it was pretty good if never remarkable.

But Beast Wars was just excellent. Season 1 is kinda episodic, but there’s enough character development and slow hints of plot development to make up for it. Then S2 just goes wild. Most of the characters are great, with Dinobot and Rattrap being downright legendary. And definitely my favorite incarnation of Megatron, he could be hammy but he did some sinister shit to be sure. And of course, one hell of a banging opening theme song.

Cautiously looking forward to this. Beast Wars was the series I grew up on. A shame that they had couldn't just have a Beast Wars movie.

Is 'That Pure Potato'
They already rebooted. Bumblebee was the reboot.

It was filmed as a prequel to Bayformers, but after test screenings they did reshoots to remove the major Bayformers references. They originally had frozen Megatron in the movie, but that was removed when making it a reboot.

Is it good? Is it worth watching to then continue into this new entry? After googling it, it's coming back to me how I saw the trailers years ago and assumed it was a prequel.

It's really good. It's basically E.T. but with a Transformer. Even has a full G1 Cybertron intro.

You can still see little remnants of the prequel stuff in the movie if you really look for it (like the old Camaro), but they added enough in the reshoots to make it a reboot. In the movie Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots arrive on Earth in the 80s and not present day in like in the Shia movie and Prime is the cab-over semi with the G1 design and not the Bayformers design.

Hmm.. Looking at the Autobots shown, does bring up an interesting question... I wonder....
I wonder if they would have the guts to pull a "Transformers The Movie" type plot and kill off Optimus along with bringing in Unicron. We are seeing a lot more of the "traditional" looks for the autobots that line up with the Animated series.

I would actually pay to watch a live action version of all that if done well.

Felt like this came out of nowhere, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Very happy to see the Maximals in action again, though the CGI quality looks a bit dated.

I am strangely excited about watching this graphic action porn. Never got into TF except the first and guest appearance Harambe is a win.

Focus on the robots not the people.

Too expensive to have 2 hours of non stop high end transformers CGI.
It's cheaper for 80% of this to focus on some boring ass human drama between the mostly no name cast.

The trailer probably has half of the cool shots in the movie

But the value of transformers is that half the time they are just normal things, and if you declutter their designs, that's gotta reduce the costs. Whatever poor team has to make all those little gears, slidey bits, and crap move around inside the exposed portions has to just hate life in general. I know it was probably considered a key element to the first films success but now I think they could walk it back A LOT unless there is some underlying reason to keep it (like it is all AI driven now and hides a lot of sloppy animation?).

But the vehicle form is pretty limiting. It works when they have to travel and during some parts of action scenes but for most other scenarios they'll need to be transformed.
Also now with the Maximals they'll have to use CGI regardless of which form they are using

I might check it out now beast wars was my jam. Didn't know bumblebee was a reboot. You'd think universal would retheme the current ride in Hollywood to beast wars to match 5he jurassic theme.
