What is the best place to see a movie in Philly?

Looks like we're moving to Roxborough on 11/4.

Do i have to hide my Mets, Knicks, and Jets gear?

Five minute walk from Delasandro's hyped to Wiz it up!!!

Eh you might get a few looks, mostly for mets, but you should be fine. I used to wear my Philly gear around NYC and all I ever got was a high five from someone haha.

No one will give a shit about Knicks and Jets gear. Mets might get you a gentle ribbing.

As for movies, I actually almost always head to the suburbs rather than put up with the shit theaters in the city.

Welcome to town!

IDK but my father in law was told by a Home Depot employee on Columbus Blvd that they weren't interested in a Yankee fan's business a few years ago. He was wearing a Yankee's hat. (This was around the time the Yankee's were beating the Phillies in the World Series.)

Yankee fans are the worst and I don't think anyone wants their business! ;)

If you like indie films, the Ritz Five/East/Bourse ones in Old City are good.

If not, then The Prince shows a few things in Center City. Beyond that, suburbs have Movie Taverns and such.

Yes you bastard

i know im probably the only one who cares about soccer but the philadelphia union stumbled into the playoffs and play wednesday night.

it wont get much fanfare and they'll probably lose but hey at least it's a playoff bound philly team right?

The Soul won the Arena football championship and got no attention whatsoever. The Philadelphia Spinners also won the ultimate frisbee championship. We are the town of champions at sports no one cares about.

Kane getting jail time is pretty satisfying. Probably never gonna see the inside of a prison, but still.

10 months is good but she should have gotten an even 12.

Wiz?

Don't do that.

American > Wiz

Why would I give a shit about any of those things unless I was the one winning the championship?!

Ariell Johnson, of Philly's Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse, is getting her own Iron Man #1 cover variant - pretty freaking cool.

Johnson opened Amalgym last December, becoming the first black, female comic book store owner on the East Coast. However, her obsession of all things geek really began around age 10 or 11, when she discovered "X-Men" character Storm. Johnson credits the character, one of the first black, female superheroes, with being "the bridge that got me into this world."

I feel like Comcast is fine in/around Philly tbh, but I went with FiOS at my new place and have had it since January. Been rock solid, no regrets.

I prefer Comcast to Fios. It's cheaper and the UI for the cable is better.

I have had maybe five total service outages in almost 10 years with them here.

When I had Comcast in the city my service would go out in the middle of the day numerous times every week. Nothing you could do except wait for it to come back on. Calling does nothing. Several people that I know who sometimes work from home say the same thing to me. If you don't work at home on the internet then you may never notice. Also internet speeds can fluctuate a lot when you want to use it the most.

Fios or Comcast?

I just signed up for Fios but have time to change it if the service isn't great.

FIOS for sure. The only thing Comcast has going for it is UI on your TV on the X1 box. FIOS internet is way better and much more reliable.

Hmm, I might be able to. PM me details
Say less. I'm there! PM me the deeds

Thanks!

I'll talk it over with the wife and provide details ASAP!

We're moving to the Roxborough area and should be getting into town around 2-3 PM on 11/4 but it's all up in the air at the moment with the moving truck.

Ah, I generally work from home and the internet going out would basically kill my workflow.

Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah I really sort of wonder if it depends a lot on where in the city you live. Since I am just outside of CC maybe my service is better, I dunno.

Probably going to try to do the Devil's Crawl on Saturday. Sounds like fun and luckily, it's supposed to be super nice outside on Saturday.

I'm going to check out Penn's Landing on Saturday to hopefully catch some rare Pokemon with the event going on. Do you guys know if there is a better way to park to avoid the ($17) lots advertised on DRWC website?

I have Comcast since I used to work for them and the internet has only dropped on me once in 3 years. For everything shitty Comcast is , local outages have been rare and I'm in west philly.

Park a few blocks up near Lombard
Park on Spring Garden
Park anywhere else & take the 33 bus down

There's a lot at 16th and Vine that is $5 all day on evenings and weekends. You can park there, walk 2-3 blocks to city hall and catch the Market Street El to the 2nd Street stop then walk a few blocks to Penns Landing. You'll probably save $8 that way if it's just you, but if it's a group the fees for the El will wipe out your savings.

Could be. I am basically in CC. before we bought a house I used to live in a modern apt building in center city and I don't remember having these service issues with Comcast. But that was a while ago. Service outages Could depend on a lot of factors.

Again also though if I wasn't working from home on the internet constantly then I wouldn't notice it I think. So it could happen to people and you just don't notice 10-20 minute outages in the middle of the day when most people are in the office.

Fuck it. I'm not doing the bar crawl. I'm going for Monk's Cafe for dinner and getting some damn good beer. Then maybe to a few other places.

Monk's is great but can be super crowded. If it's not busy you're golden, but if it is pop on over to Belgian Cafe on 21st and Green. Same owner, extremely similar menu, and similar beer selection.

My wife just mentioned to me that the water in Philly taste a little funky at times, is this a common occurrence?

Should I get a a Brita filter?
