According to this site, then Microsoft earned 70 billion dollars for 2022, and Sony earned around 7.5 billion in 2022.

Sony is not poor, Microsoft is just much more wealthy.

It takes over 8 years for don't to earn what Microsoft does each year.

Microsoft already earned the price back for Acti Blizzard, while Sony are still nowhere near to afford it from the date of the reveal of the acquisition.

There's plenty of ways to do an acquisition, although this one seems like bullshit but here's notable big acquisitions from companies that have less Revenues & profits then Sony:

- AMD Xilink 35B
- Nvidia ARM (failed) 40B
- Take Two Zynga 11B

If you search on Wikipedia some of the biggest acquisitions are from companies that can't match SONY profits and many even make losses, per example AMD was a company making losses until recently & still managed to acquire Xilinx.

I don't believe in this rumor, companies like Capcom, from soft or remedy, make more sense. I think sony is better off buying lot of smaller developers and make them grow

It's possible Sony could do this, but it would put them in a horrible position cash wise, it would basically wipe out thier 21 billion in cash. Not likely to happen.

I don't really care either way, I was just commenting on the forum dynamic, the Activision discussion has been the same stuff rehashed for what feels like years, personally as a (completely not triggered, thanks L Lyrical ) Xbox owner, I don't care about the Activision deal either, I'm just sick of hearing about it! :messenger_tongue:

I don't think sonys response will be to buy publishers. They would have already bought one if that was the case. Of course Microsoft getting Activision could change that as its a very aggressive move. I was also surprised to see sony get bungie too so who knows what else could happen.

Take Two is an interesting company. I don't see the logic in Sony buying it. The game would have to remain multi-platform to get past regulators and the game already sells the bulk of its copies on Sony consoles. Sony already gets a fat cut of Take Twos top line so it doesn't seem efficient to pay so much to own the company. Activision makes slightly more sense because the company is well run and can help get the other MS studios performing. Sony doesn't have the same issue.

MS isn’t making anymore Bethesda games multiplat. Only the ones that had a deal before MS bought them (Deathloop, Ghost wire )

Anyway, I doubt that:
1) T2 wants to sell
2) Sony would be allowed to buy them or dare their luck (nobody wants to pay billions like MS might have to for failed deal)
3) Who knows if they even have "it" anymore, after many important people left and they've been resting on their laurels. As a PS studios fan, i don't want Sony to buy T2, unless it's some desperate Hail Mary move.

I think that MS getting Activision would result in a bidding war over Take Two and EA with Sony completing against Amazon, google, and some of the Chinese firms.

They don't, they aren't going to get get billions in loans to make an acquisition of this size. use some business logic. If you don't have the money you don't make this purchase.

There would likely be buyers that would pay more anyway.

The fact this rumor is starting at this period in time where the CMA & EU are making their decisions make it suspect to start. Imo if Sony were trying, or even talking about a deal ( with a company they actually despise internally -- that's a different story...) this would come up in the data for the acquisition of Activision. It would strengthen Microsoft position, and put Sony under high scrutiny for business practices. Sony are far more likely to foreclose on availability of a multi-plat title after a purchase (Also, no I don't believe them when they say bungie can do what they like. I have no reason to believe that based on past track record and history of supporting multiple games. ).

I'm already seeing this picked up by so called "gaming media" websites and repeated like it has validity. Same website claims microsoft will sell off the xbox division if the activision deal doesn't go through. Talk about stupid....
