No update for at&t s8 yet. First android carrier phone in years and the struggle is real.

Next job definitely needs better cell signal in office lol.

I didn't bring my charger with me and today I was finally going to be able to enjoy the internet again on my college campus. I'm now down to 15% with battery saver on. I ordered another charger that will never leave my backpack to prevent future cases like this.

Currently on my third day without internet at home.

The battery is considerably better though. And because of the SD chip it'll get better support.

The battery is a lot better, but the battery in the Honor 8 is solid enough to last a day for the majority of people. Won't go into the second day like the P2 but for most that won't matter. With fast charge too it's less of an issue.

In terms of support, you mean from custom ROMs? Niche thing that very few really care about now tbh. I don't see any real reason to go down that route now.

The Honor 8 has the better camera by a significant margin and a nicer design. YMMV but unless battery is your primary concern I'd go with the Honor for the same money.

Yep custom ROMs, it's definitely a factor for me when choosing a new phone but I accept I'm not the average customer.
And yeah the camera is probably better on the honor as its the only negative thing I've read about the P2. The body on the P2 is nice, felt like a flagship device in hand when I tried it. The skin on the honor phones just looks shit, thats the main reason why I'd want a custom ROM, P2 has a pretty stock looking skin.
Probably reads as though I've got a massive hard on for the P2, I'm still happy with my 6p but if I had to buy a new phone tomorrow it'd be the P2.

What update?

Tmobile and international folk got an update to allow customization of display to help with the red tint. Also optimizations etc.

Wonder if they sell tiny cables and adapter that can fit in your wallet lol.

EMUI with 5.0 isn't a bad skin at all now. Settings I'd quite iOS style still but things like the multitasking cards and notification drop down/quick settings are a lot more like normal Android now.

P2 is solid but when they're the same money it's not a contest for me. Honor 8 is in my eyes the better all rounder. Nice to have variety though.

I always thought poor customer support was a huge flaw with buying a OnePlus device until I realized that customer support is pretty much shit with whichever Android manufacturer you buy.

My gfs A5 2016 is soooo slow lately (by lately it means since after 1 week of use - now its around 3 months). Its as bad as it was those phones runnings lota of stuff in the store to show all those features that noone gives a fuck, except now it isnt running anything.

You open google maps, you pinch to zoom out... And it lags/freezes for like half second, then it works. EVERY TIME. Its not just the first pinch, not when you just opened the app. All the time. Multitasking makes me miss my Lumia 640 running the extremely unoptimized windows 10, for real.

Anything we can do to make it faster? I believe I already disabled all the shit apps that come with it and she now uses the google ones (for example Photos instead of gallery). We also set up a different launcher because the original is awful looking.

So I traded my S7 Edge that I got last year plus $100 cash for a brand new unopened LG G6.

S7 was mint still I only used for about a month and went back to my iPhone. Curved screen serves no purpose imo, and it was a pia to hold and use, again imo.

Anyway the G6 has been great so far, its smooth, fast, easy to hold and use. I love the camera, especially the wide angle, this is a great feature. The battery life has been great too so far, no complaints there. Performance has never been an issue, despite the older chipset. Its too bad it launched so close to the S8. I have played around with the S8 at Best Buy and I prefer the feel of the G6. Not to mention that ridiculous finger print scanner placement on the S8. My only complaint is the front facing camera, it seems blurry sort of, unless you hold still. Hard to explain, like its slow to refresh whats being displayed. Seems strange and hopefully its a software issue. I don't use the front camera much though.

If you can get a G6 at a good price I think its a great phone, next to the S8 it can hold its own imo.

Only because Dex is the newest thing lol. Gear VR is so last year.
Also vr in general is fairly dull after hype wore off. Especially mobile.

You watch some vr porn and that's about it. I'm curious how well dex handles multitasking because holy shit is s8 aggressive. Games restart 9/10 times I switch to something else.

There are two drawings, so let’s start with the one that shows off the main camera setup. The most obvious difference will be the dual-camera, which is rumored to consist of dual 12MP sensors and a dual-LED flash.

There will also be a “window” surrounding the camera area, much like the Google Pixel has, except the window will be made of ceramic and not glass. The window serves two purposes: it allows signals to pass through while also offering a durable alternative to glass. We've seen ceramic in a OnePlus device before: the OnePlus X.

The next sketch shows us additional views of the device, including the side profile view, bottom view, and the front view. Seeing the phone from the side shows us that the ceramic piece would wrap around the whole backside and touch the frame.

This sketch also shows us a dual camera setup on the front! If this does turn out to be a legitimate feature, the OnePlus 5’s selfie game could be on a whole other level.

The OnePlus 5 will also keep its curved back, which we’ve enjoyed ever since the OnePlus One. Moving to the bottom of the phone is a USB-C port, in-call mic hole, and loud speaker. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack there, so no need to worry about using any pesky adapters.

If you remember, the 1+1 was leaked in the same manner. This is probably it

I certainly have always wanted the thing that Dex is an example of. Not quite sure phone hardware or android is ready for it though. Thats part of why I was so hopeful about Windows Mobile and continuity. Too bad the phone ecosystem seems unable to really support more than two OSes (at least when one of the major services providers blocks you deliberately).

Of course I was under no illusion that the whole phone dock concept is for everyone anymore than even tablets are for everyone.

So I got a new USB cable for my phone so I could transfer some music over. After about a minute on idle, the phone seems to "disconnect" itself from my computer (like, its contents are hidden) until I unlock it again. Is this normal? It works fine otherwise. I'm probably just going to keep using my wireless charger if that's the case.

Doesn't seem so. 16:9 is fine. Op3 barely had any side bezels and with capacitive buttons the screen difference isn't huge.

Yep, OP3 is small for the size screen it has. Too bad it doesn't look like the OP5 will have stereo speakers. Maybe Axon 8 will deliver there.

More like I'd be disappointed if they took out their key differentiator haha.

Seems like camera will be the 5's biggest bulletpoint anyhow.

Yeah Axon without stereo speakers would suck. Camera should be OnePlus's big bulletpoint if they get it right since that was the area they needed the biggest improvement. I have my doubts it will be good though. Their cameras have always been pretty poor compared to Samsung and Iphone. Only other area of improvement OnePlus needs is 1440p screen.

On another note OnePlus phones are the king of resale value. You can use one for a year and only lose about $50-$60 when you sale it as long as you keep it in good condition.

xda interview said that was their priority now. I mean like what else is oneplus 'missing' haha.

I can see oneplus having a killer 'auto mode' comparable with the best by 2018 or 2019.

Just hope they don't keep going up on price and keep the openness to unlock bootloader and root. I feel like OnePlus 5 will start at $430.

Got my OP3T in January and love it. I wonder how much the OP5 will cost. I could put a little money in order to get a better camera, which is my first and only complaint about it. Not really a complaint, as it takes good photos for its price, but its the only thing I feel that could be improved in the device.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Qualcomm announced Snap 660 & 630 devices.

660 seems like who cares as nobody used the last chip.

630 sounds legit as a 625 replacement though!

Hopefully they improve the Vibration motor. Absolutely horrible. Can't feel it at all haha.

Wasn't sure. I had an update waiting when I unboxed my phone, but I wasn't sure what it actually was.

Yeah there was a day 1 update. Another one began rolling out last week.

660 seems like near 820 in power. 630 got a notable boost in gpu.

Solid chips. Shame moto z play 2 seems to be getting a smaller battery?

Vanillalite

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
630 solves what it needed to IE higher clock speeds on the 625 meant the CPU was great but the GPU couldn't keep up.

Plus both chips got new LTE modems.

That will die the same death Windows Phone had after the several reboots of the OS.

Not really. Windows Phone died because it had no apps, so it never got marketshare, so it got no apps.

Fuchsia could have the Android runtime built on top of it and run almost all if not all Android software pretty successfully, with developers moving over to Dart over time. It'd have Google Play services and Google Maps and YouTube and Gmail natively.

The average Android user wouldn't even realise it was Fuchsia underneath until the transition had happened.

Hmm, the 660 could be a nice baby 835. Shame nobody will use it.

A budget Pixel with it would be nice, but Google

The issue has always been for phones offered in the US, the sd650 phones basically cost the same as a op3 or axon 7,which renders them kinda pointless lol.

Guess you can always import some Chinese phone.

Looking to get an 8" Android tablet and noticed that the Tab S2 has dropped to $300 this week. Any reason to avoid this tablet? I would have preferred the Shield tablet but it looks like that is not getting restocked anymore.
