Covid 19 Thread: [no bitching about masks of Fauci edition]

Guess what other organization did the same shit but won't be called out for it.
These guys, but they did get called out for it.

David Hines, 29, of Miami, for example, admitted to a fraud scheme that netted him $3.9 million, according to his guilty plea. Hines, who said in court papers that he struggled with addiction, bought a $318,000 Lamborghini Huracán. He also spent thousands on luxury hotels, jewelry, clothing and dating sites, say prosecutors, who seized the car and recovered much of the money.

In another Florida case, prosecutors have charged a man who they say used proceeds from a $7.2 million emergency loan to buy a 12,579-square-foot mansion, a Lincoln Navigator car, a Maserati and a Mercedes-Benz.

A California couple were convicted in June of stealing $18 million, with which they bought three houses, diamonds, gold coins, luxury watches, expensive furniture and other valuables, prosecutors said. Just as they were to be sentenced, they cut off their ankle bracelets and fled, leaving their children behind, according to the FBI.

They were captured in February in Montenegro. The man was sentenced to 17 years in prison, and his wife got six years.

COVID-19 vaccination helped to reduce the years of life lost among the fully vaccinated by around 88% during the studied period and the registered number of deaths is approximately 3.5 lower than it would be expected without vaccination:

We've lost so many lives already. Imagine what it would be like if we didn't have the vaccines?

It’s so bad there is some actual unrest and protesting but I’m sure it will be brutally quelled.

The camps make me wonder if this is really a Covid reaction or some other outbreak or just an excuse to round massive amounts of people up.
Regardless, after successfully deploying this level of control and seeing how effective it is, it's unlikely that the scope will remain limited to Covid quarantine. Now all it takes is a red flag on your digital identity to compel you to remove yourself from society straight to a camp of their choosing. Very convenient for the State.

China has a covid issue of code reds and covid camps?

But I thought according to those covid death trackers in 2020, while every other big country had 1000s of deaths, China only had something like 10? lol

If it wasn't for Twitter most of this stuff wouldn't be seen in the US. The CCP-complaint media in the US is crickets about it.

Coverage everywhere:

Twitter's one resource. Apparently there have been attempts to overwhelm posts about the protests with spam.

Twitter’s radically reduced anti-propaganda team grappled on Sunday with a flood of nuisance content in China that researchers said was aimed at reducing the flow of news about stunning widespread protests against coronavirus restrictions.
Numerous Chinese-language accounts, some dormant for months or years, came to life early Sunday and started spamming the service with links to escort services and other adult offerings alongside city names.
The result: For hours, anyone searching for posts from those cities and using the Chinese names for the locations would see pages and pages of useless tweets instead of information about the daring protests as they escalated to include calls for Communist Party leaders to resign.
It is not the first time that suspected government-connected accounts have used the technique, according to a recently departed Twitter employee. But in the past, it was used to discredit a single account or a small group by naming them in the escort ads.
“This is a known problem that our team was dealing with manually, aside from automations we put in place,” said the former employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid retribution for disclosing internal processes.

The campaign was spotted by researchers at Stanford University and elsewhere. Stanford Internet Observatory Director Alex Stamos said his team is working to determine how widespread and effective it is.

A current Twitter employee told an outside researcher that the company was aware of the problem by midday and was working to resolve it.
By late Sunday, news and images of the protests were showing up in searches for posts in cities where rallies were being held.

It's been covered every day, from within a few hours from the first disturbances, on the NPR news podcasts I listed to each morning and night. It was also on ABC news that very morning as well, albeit a few hours later than NPR.

If you haven’t read up on Tiananmen, you’ll need to in order to understand the balls these people have

Yeah. Tiananmen wasn't just a some soldiers opening fire and a tank blockade. They ran over protestors with their tanks, turned their bodies into mush and then whatever was left of the crushed mess they just hosed off into storm drains. Pretty much the most brutal crackdown by a government on their own people that has ever been seen.

(Hoping for the safety of protesters.)

Been following the unrest from the Foxconn factory from... a couple weeks ago?
How one factory can house over 100k-200k employees? The scale of China, good or bad, never ceases to amaze me.

I do hope Zero Covid policy would go away for their own sake... and I do hope Apple and American companies dealing with such would take appropriate measure for their suffering.
(I know Apple is supposed to be doing active investigation of what's happening there - but I'm not sure what's there stance will be.)

Like ones EvilLore posted about being locked out from burning house and died... I am a bit skeptical of 100% of accuracy as of any report from China, but still, what tragedy.

They are worried of their medical system being overun and forcing them to enforce Zero Covid policy, and their still "revised" "with corona policy" eased it a bit..,
but if they can make a factory with 100k-200k workers, I'm sure they can pull it off. Feeling for the people over there. It's been like 3+ years of constant fear of lock down. No way to live.

That Ikea lockdown was quite something a few months back...

Back before the pandemic started in earnest, early 2020, one of the things that alarmed US intelligence was their observation of China rapidly building a number of hospitals and erecting what appeared to be temporary, makeshift sites to deal with treating people. China can build quickly. Their activity in this respect can serve as the proverbial canary in a coal mine.

They did eight analyses, amounting to snapshots of the virus’s presence in the population over the research period.
The study, published Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, found that by January 2021, less than five per cent of people had been exposed to the virus.
But the proportion of those with COVID-19 antibodies rose to 56 per cent in June 2021 as vaccines were rolled out. It shot to 95 per cent in August of this year through a combination of vaccination and infection as Omicron became the dominant variant.

The data can inform real-time policy decisions because without antibodies, a vast proportion of the population is susceptible to infection in a pandemic and that would crush the capacity of the health-care system, she said.
“As (the research) was unfolding, there were several points that I thought were really quite remarkable and in some ways a testament to the decisions that had been made in B.C., but not only in B.C., in Canada, because I think our findings are generalizable to other areas.”

And everyone in the West bought it without a single voice of "hey, maybe authoritarian regime can't be trusted with what they say after all". It's obvious their death count is probably 1mln+ by now.

What what? Didn’t we hear enough during the pandemic how in Europe the infections are going into hundreds of thousands but China has them down to…10? In a country of 1.3bln people? Not a single journalist ever questioned that on air.
bro, literally nobody outside china believes the china numbers are reliable tf u talking about 😂

All the policies set were because of the China data.

But I understand in one ideologies you get to play revisionist constantly.

Quarantines and lockdowns were proven to suppress positive cases in other countries that practiced these policies though. China's numbers may have been bullshit but their methods were effective.

Shut down a global economy for years, tanked markets.

Working from home and kids having the learn from home.

REALLY effective.

World is still in a recession due to it.

Weird diatribe. I made it specifically about policies made to suppress positive cases for a reason.

There was never any lockdown here over the pandemic. Some mild quarantining for 10 days. Masking. Restaurants/bars/gyms/entertainment shut down for months. Temp vaccine passes when reopening for that. The provincial economy receded by 5% during this, but has recovered. With a 95% antibody rate currently in population without ever having to call on feds for help from overwhelmed health care and lower death rate from covid than many similar health regions indicates some well informed policy in the circumstances.

It's funny that in our country our province was considered one of the most dangerous for covid for being lax but strict to other people. Eastern provinces went more for zero covid and were stricter about travel.

Effective as in there's still Covid and those asymptomatic cases that can be shuffled to one side of the line or the other as needed. Chinas methods were security theater and just a couple weeks after the protests surprisingly they are walking them back now.

false positives are irrelevant when looking at variance trends based on suppression policies, in fact you would be seeing no variance or even the opposite if we were to follow this route
Out of interest, where you from?

It's very different depending on where you live, demographics and modern life.

Two main points are still real.

(I posted on GAF while in hospital watching people die, each one took a piece of my heartn') Be it it flu or iudshfidsnhfdbfivndfibsvfndfbs.

Hard to say it's nice. I walked outside the ward with dead eyes, several times.

I ain't batman but christ, watching death after death. It hurts. Best thing was a dude who'd piss himself. At least that was funny. Nurses would proclaim "you pissed yourself again!". Dude was simple.

Dude was awesome though. Just funny to hear the exclamation when waking up. (NO I DIDN'T! oooooooh, someone else thank fuck)

Accuse the other person of doing exactly what you are doing first.

OIP-C._B_4NkbyvUujbfwCj3uEHgHaEK

this is the level we’re at now, you’ve given up on trying to talk about asymptomatic cases, covid zero protests and false positives which had nothing to do with anything I was saying

and on this, I was asking a question to which I’ll assume the answer is yes because his points also had nothing to do with mine…and if you think I’m being a hypocrite I’ll stop replying when people stop quoting me with irrelevant info or when these ad hominems become boring

seeing policy effects on positive cases does not depend on any lived experience but looking at trends of states that practiced these policies

Point out the negative other than Twitch THOTS. The place thrives on them and more power to them.

People pointing that out, well ... "It's in the game".

Positive cases like her humping an inflatable banana. That got her banned.

I do not have that have that "lived experience" however I could prob do with the nutrition.

(Can't find the Arrested Development GIF, Damnit)

That's a pretty simplistic way of looking at things. Ultimately, BC's lower death rate was not that much lower and almost entirely due to it missing the first wave from the good fortune of having a late spring break.
