Media Create Sales: Week 24, 2015 (Jun 08 - Jun 14)

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
It's nice to see that the DBZ game didn't bomb. I heard the game is not too good either?

Trails in the Sky EVO only 20K? :(

The EVO games don't really sell much. It's a bit weird since they have more VA and are licensed instead of made by Falcom, don't know why Chara-Ani keeps having them made.

Wow Splatoon has done really well. I am surprised that it only dropped 23% and seeing the Wii U sell 15k+ for 3 weeks in a row is surreal.

Splatoon worldwide watch:

Splatoon
Jap.: 298.549
USA: 136.000
FR: 35.000
UK: 31.455

Total: 501.004

So, it's above 500.000 officially (from what we know).
+40.000 digital sales in Japan, +30.000 in Germany (probably) and plus the rest of Europe we're at >600.000 units.

• It's currently the best-seller for June @ amazon.com - Let's see if it has similar legs in the USA.

I thought the USA numbers would be stronger. Isn't there usually a North America (USA/Canada) tally? Those are usually Nintendo's two strongest international markets no?

Damn, Nintendo really screwed up not announcing some more Splatoon content yesterday. That game has become a certifiable hit for them, and there was no reason not to devote some time to a new DLC announcement or the like.

There had been so much great momentum for the company going into this E3, which makes the complete failure of the Direct all the more hard to swallow.

They announced stuff last week.

USA numbers are only for two days, we'll have to wait until july to see if it held decently in June.

What? No.

Really? I always thought it was, especially after Capcom announced it shipped 4m copies of MH4 when Famitsu had it showing a couple hundred thousands less with 80-100% ST, but yeah I guess I was wrong after doing the math.

How many WW million sellers has the Wii U had?

Splatoon is surely heading for that list in the next couple of months.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

I think the US Splatoon numbers are only for the first 2-3 days anyway. Probably quite a bit higher by now.

Okay, now Splatoon has officially done pretty well.

I think before this, one could only say Splatoon did pretty well given the current market for console games in Japan, and compared to even mediocre sales a decade ago this isn't very good. But now these legs indicate that it's doing pretty decently even without the "consoles are dead" caveats.

That assumes the legs don't just suddenly die next week, of course.

The game will clear 500k LTD easily and we'll see how close to 1 million will go in the end. These aren't new IP mediocre sales for any decade.

From next week I'll stop comparing Style Savvy, since the gap will become bigger from now because it started the holiday season for SS2.
I'll compare Rhythm Heaven The Best+ VS Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Right. If it had done its first week sales and then had legs of some more hardcore titles where it drops 75% week after week, those would not have been good sales by historical standards.

But now that the legs have clearly sprouted, that's no longer the case.

Nintendo should further boost Splatoon's visibility by providing Splatoon DLC for Mario Kart. Make Splatoon drivers immune to the ink blot and able to ink blot other drivers for 10% visibility.

Nice numbers for Splatoon! I also see The Witcher 3 and Minecraft PSV hanging around in there as well showing decent legs.

PS4 won't get a boost until the games actually arrive.

It's like people have amnesia with regards to what happened to the PS3 last gen. Announced games that are years away don't do much. Even if they are from some of Japan's biggest IPs.

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Go Splatoon, go. Great Rhythm Heaven.

P.S. *goes on Amazon.co.jp*...err, yeah, Animal Crossing HHD preorders started indeed.

I think if Nintendo can adapt Splatoon to the 3DS, the franchise can continue to grow. It doesn't even need to be the same thing as the WiiU version. Maybe something more suited to portable gaming habits in Japan. Co-op driven 4 player raid maps with bosses and enemies, even more character customization, etc.

Exactly what I was thinking. You know the recent announced Metroid Prime first person shooter spin-off? That should have been Splatoon.

Me think it'll be for the 3DS successor

Japan would just stop buying WiiU copies and wait for this 3DS spin-offs

I don't think this type of thing would help WiiU sales sure I agree it expands a new IP but I would hate it

The biggest news I think is the fact the Wii U is selling more than it did the same period last year. Considering MK8 was released last year and the Wii U was selling 12k - Splatoon is proving to be a system seller for Japan.

Also it will be interesting when they release the figures for how much digital copies of Splatoon were sold later on.

New IPs are the only thing that can sell systems now.
People knew we would be getting Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Super Mario from the start.
