That can't possibly be real, can it? There's just so much context and understanding there. That could be a David Letterman Top 10 list. It has to be pulling those from things people already wrote, right? If not, perhaps some fake examples of the AI are going around? This just seems crazy.

It doesn’t need to be faked. The essays and stories it writes, the songs, the hypothetical scenarios…none of it existed before it was generated through the prompts we typed in.

We’re seeing the first steps toward a technological revolution. ChatGPT is by far the closest we’ve seen to a general intelligence.

It was trained on everything available to the internet, but its output is not copy/pasted. It is synthesized much like how human brains learn information and synthesize an output. Artificial neural networks are based on how neurons work in the brain.

Create a Neogaf thread.

Hm, it would appear that the last 213 threads have been made using my services or the employ of 5th graders. Should I still continue?

Yes, please.

All right. Title: Do you think the next gen controllers will be comfortable?
OP: So controllers are pretty standard. Some are nice to grip and hold. Have they peaked? Can they improve? Will the next gen add something revolutionary like a feature to charge other controllers? Please see poll and vote.

Ok. Let’s get down to the serious questions here - can it write naughty stuff?
That was a big thing about GPT powered AI Dungeon. They trained it by ripping content from a user generated choose your own adventure site, without realizing that a lot of the user content there was porn. Then they went into a panic, banning users because their model was inserting underage girls into the stories at random.

AI is creepy as fuck. Not a fucking toy. If it sees humanity through the internet, it can only come to one logical conclusion. Judgment Day.

Ok we're getting somewhere... but hey you stupid AI bot, you're saying all four ships escape during that first draft but the Defiant was abandoned and broke apart under heavy fire from the Death Star. That kind of inattention to detail is almost as bad as what you find in Brannon Braga's screenplays!

Really strong final dialogue from Riker though. May the force be with us all indeed, captain!

Gave it a proper whirl tonight.

The philosophical stuff, especially about AI is all very circular and clearly hand programmed.

But for more practical purposes? Scarily good. Not only is it better than pretty much any search engine if you're after anything other than a webpage, but it can do some pretty impressive stuff. I asked it to help me with coding a program and it just outright spat out what I needed to do step-by-step. It showed StackExchange for the pathetic wankfest it often is.

Write a plot for a new Silent Hill game inspired by Stephen King

In the small town of Silent Hill, strange and unsettling events have been occurring for decades. No one knows why, but the town has always had an otherworldly aura about it, with strange noises and apparitions appearing out of nowhere.
The main character is a young man named Jack, who has recently moved to Silent Hill with his family. Jack is struggling to adjust to life in the new town, and begins to experience strange and vivid dreams that feel all too real.
As the dreams become more intense and frequent, Jack begins to feel a strong pull towards the abandoned, fog-shrouded section of town known as the Silent Hill Otherworld. Despite the warnings of the town's strange and reclusive residents, Jack is drawn to explore the Otherworld, hoping to find some answers about the strange occurrences in Silent Hill.
As Jack delves deeper into the Otherworld, he discovers that the town has a dark and troubled history, and that it is connected to a powerful and malevolent force. As he struggles to uncover the truth about Silent Hill, Jack must confront his own fears and demons, and ultimately confront the darkness that lurks at the heart of the town.

This rather shows that it can't actually come up with anything new or original, but it can reformulate existing elements of a narrative into a fresh synopsis. But I don't think authors have anything to worry about just yet.

Moving very quickly for a legacy tech giant.
It was quite funny cause in the Pivot podcast by Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway, they did joke about the revenge of Bing in relation to ChatGPT.

The acquisition of Github and investment into OpenAi maybe the most fruitful thing that they have done for a while/ever.

At some point ChatGPT started refusing to write erotic stories featuring me and girls I knew back in high school. This happen to anyone else? Is it because I asked it to write a scene that takes place in a Finnish sauna? Am I to be Skynet's first victim?

ChatGPT does have guidelines that OpenAI controls, it's to stop people abusing the system. I think the main things is trying to stop disinformation/misinformation and people querying how to build 'dangerous things'.

Your request may be being flagged for a key word.

Tried it for the frist time a couple of days back. Pretty awesome. I can fully see these chat bots replacing Google - that is if they do not make something simlar on their own.

Google did pioneer this form of AI/ML, their large language model is called Lambda. The issue is that ChatGPT doesn't give much 'space' at the moment for search advertising cause you ain't currently clicking on a link so it may require Google to rethink Search Advertising.

Can you write me a nursery rhyme inspired by Trent Reznor's lyrics?

Verse 1: I'm a little demon, dark and fierce I'll haunt your dreams and bring you fear I'll crawl into your bed at night And give you such a fright

Chorus: I am the darkness that lurks within I'll twist and turn and never give in I am the evil that you can't ignore I am the demon that you can't ignore

Verse 2: I'll hide in shadows, quiet and still I'll wait for you to come closer, until I strike with claws and sharpened teeth And send you running, beneath your sheets

Chorus: I am the darkness that lurks within I'll twist and turn and never give in I am the evil that you can't ignore I am the demon that you can't ignore

Outro: I am the demon, don't you see I'll haunt your dreams, just wait and see I am the terror that dwells within I am the demon, now let me in.

Write a song about silent hill inspired by marilyn manson’s lyrics

Verse 1: I'm walking through the fog, it's a cold, dark night I hear the sirens in the distance, something's not right I feel the presence of evil, it's all around I'm lost in Silent Hill, I can't escape this town
Chorus: Silent Hill, where the darkness dwells Silent Hill, where the sirens yell Silent Hill, where the monsters roam Silent Hill, I'm all alone
Verse 2: I see the shadows moving, they're coming for me I'm running for my life, I can't break free I hear the whispers in the wind, they're calling my name I'm trapped in this nightmare, it's all the same
Chorus: Silent Hill, where the darkness dwells Silent Hill, where the sirens yell Silent Hill, where the monsters roam Silent Hill, I'm all alone
Bridge: I'm searching for an escape, a way to break the spell But the horrors of this place, they're never-ending hell I can feel the madness creeping, it's taking hold I'm lost in Silent Hill, I'm getting old
Chorus: Silent Hill, where the darkness dwells Silent Hill, where the sirens yell Silent Hill, where the monsters roam Silent Hill, I'm all alone

write some song lyrics about the progressive tax system in the style of Justin Bieber

Verse 1:
I can't believe it, I'm paying more
Than the people who are richer than me, for sure
I work hard every day and night
But still can't seem to get it right

Chorus:
This progressive tax system ain't fair
I'm just trying to get by, it's not my fault I'm not there
With the 1% on top, they don't have to pay their share
But I'm stuck at the bottom, it's not really fair

Verse 2:
I see the billionaires living it up
While I'm barely making ends meet, it's tough
I'm just trying to make a living
But this tax system ain't giving

Chorus:
This progressive tax system ain't fair
I'm just trying to get by, it's not my fault I'm not there
With the 1% on top, they don't have to pay their share
But I'm stuck at the bottom, it's not really fair

Bridge:
I wish I could make more money
But I'm stuck in this cycle, it ain't funny
I'm just a regular guy trying to survive
But this tax system is holding me down, it's not right

Chorus:
This progressive tax system ain't fair
I'm just trying to get by, it's not my fault I'm not there
With the 1% on top, they don't have to pay their share
But I'm stuck at the bottom, it's not really fair

could you do the same in the style of Trent Reznor?

Verse 1:
I'm sick of this system, it's a load of crap
I work hard every day, but my wages are taxed to the max
The rich just keep getting richer, while I stay stuck in the same spot
I'm tired of trying to make ends meet, it's time to take what I've got

Chorus:
This progressive tax system is a lie
It's time to fight back, I won't comply
I'm done with the 1% getting all the breaks
It's time to even the playing field, no more mistakes

Verse 2:
I see the politicians getting rich off our backs
While the rest of us struggle just to stay on track
I'm done with the lies and the corruption
It's time for a change, a revolution

Chorus:
This progressive tax system is a lie
It's time to fight back, I won't comply
I'm done with the 1% getting all the breaks
It's time to even the playing field, no more mistakes

Bridge:
We deserve a fair shot at success
But this system is rigged, it's a mess
I won't stand for it any longer
It's time for the people to become stronger

Chorus:
This progressive tax system is a lie
It's time to fight back, I won't comply
I'm done with the 1% getting all the breaks
It's time to even the playing field, no more mistakes

Please write the lyrics of a thrash metal song about ponies

Verse 1: Pony hooves stomping the ground Mane flowing, wild and unbound Eyes ablaze, fangs bared Ready to thrash and tear
Chorus: Pony power, it's time to reign With hooves of steel and fire in our veins We'll thrash and bash, we won't be tamed We are the ponies, forever untamed
Verse 2: From the fields to the city streets We bring the thunder, we can't be beat We'll rock and roll, we'll never stop We are the ponies, on the metal non-stop
Chorus: Pony power, it's time to reign With hooves of steel and fire in our veins We'll thrash and bash, we won't be tamed We are the ponies, forever untamed
Bridge: We're small and mighty, don't underestimate Our metal power, it's never too late To join the herd, let's raise some hell We are the ponies, and we're here to dwell
Chorus: Pony power, it's time to reign With hooves of steel and fire in our veins We'll thrash and bash, we won't be tamed We are the ponies, forever untamed

Question for GAF not the chat AI

Elon Musk and Sam Altman (Y Combinator former president) are founders of OpenAI, which is a non-profit. And Microsoft have already invested $1 billion into it as well as just recently struck a deal to integrate it into Bing. OpenAI also sell access to DALL-E 2.

So no, I don't think OpenAI are going to be sold off to some mega corp. But they are already partly owned by some and some wealthy individuals.

The AI is just making shit up right?

It can only work with what is has been given. So all that can be surmised is in the data it was fed, that those items came up quite a bit in reference to Sekiro for some reason.

If you're not double checking what it gives you, then you're using it wrong.

I guess what I mean is that it can only trade in generalities, gleaned from multiple sources, at a superficial level. It can say that a character has to deal with his own demons... but can't extrapolate what those demons are, how they came to haunt him, and why those demons would tie into Silent Hill. Those kinds of intuitive leaps and connections made by writers aren't in its skillset... yet.

Now tell us about Neogaf's evil twin.

Now tell us about Neogaf's evil twin.

The rise of Resetera was swift and unexpected. When it first appeared on the scene, it was seen as a sort of "evil twin" to the popular gaming forum Neogaf. While Neogaf was known for its open and accepting community, Resetera was known for its strict moderation and lack of tolerance for certain types of discussion.

At first, this approach seemed to work in Resetera's favor. The site gained a reputation as a "safe space" for those who were tired of the chaos and drama that often plagued other gaming forums. It quickly became the go-to destination for those who wanted to have civil, respectful conversations about their favorite games and hobbies.

But everything changed when Hogwarts Legacy was announced. The highly-anticipated Harry Potter game was the talk of the gaming world, and users on both Neogaf and Resetera were eager to discuss it. However, the moderators at Resetera had other ideas.

Despite the overwhelming interest in the game, they banned any and all discussion of Hogwarts Legacy on the site. They even went so far as to ban users who expressed excitement for the game or tried to sneak mentions of it into other threads.

This decision proved to be a major misstep for Resetera. Many users were furious at the censorship, and they began to flock to Neogaf in droves. The once-thriving Resetera was left with only a handful of thread derailers who no longer had threads to derail, while Neogaf experienced a resurgence thanks to the influx of new users.

As the years passed, Resetera's fortunes continued to decline. Without a thriving community to support it, the site slowly withered away, fading into obscurity as Neogaf continued to thrive and grow. In the end, it was a cautionary tale of what can happen when a forum becomes too rigid and intolerant of differing opinions.

I got you 💪

I just asked for a formula in excel because I suck at it and gave exactly what I was looking for. Beats google searching it

It's even better for code. Well, sure, for code it often has a few small mistakes or less optimal ways of doing something, but it sure beats going over to StackExchange and being told/reminded how shit you are at coding.
