Rumor: Platinum Games In Charge For MGS Rising Development [Platinum: Nope]

So it's not just because the main character is named Solid Snake? Umm, okay...
Well he was named that in previous games.

Hideo Kojima said:
And the word Solid in Metal Gear Solid has three meanings. First of all, Solid Snake is a character name. Then Solid also suggests three dimensions--you know, a 3D game. The third meaning, deals with Square, you know, the company that does Final Fantasy. A square is a two- dimension thing. And I guess the president of Konami wanted this game to surpass Square. They wanted to make it a cube, you know, like solid 3D. So it's got that meaning. too.

Kamiya will make a better game than whatever the hell Kojima Productions was doing.

Sure since it appears that they completely failed at what they were trying to do. I'm just saying that I don't have a lot of faith in him making a great MGS game. That's why I said that he'd be better suited for something like ZoE than MGS.

What does it refer to then? I always just assumed it was because of Solid Snake. I'm sure there's an explanation that involves extensive mental gymnastics, or someone just decided it sounded cool.
It's just some ancient article where Kojima says 'Solid means this and that and of course Solid from Solid Snake'.
Somehow this made people across the internet insist it's nothing to do with Solid Snake whenever they have the opportunity. A bit like that uncompressed audio nonsense.

At least the Kojima version would have run flawlessly on PS3.

Bayonetta lol

The tag line for MGS Rising was "Lightning Bolt Action." Ain't no one gonna do that better than Kamiya.

Give me some Ninja Raiden with Dodge Offset and crazy cyborg abilities and I'm good.

Wait, when was Rising was an all out action game? My perception was it was stealth with action bit like MGS4 but with sword.

Not happy. I wanted the stealth. There are enough action games already. Can we please have at least one Stealth franchise..... :/

DC Universe is worse, at least MGS4 is in parts.

But 40gb is not to unrealistic by todays standards.

What's the size of the PC version of DUO?

MGS5 multiplat would make sense if 360 gets a subsistence type re-release of MGS4. In either case, now both 360 and PS3 fans can groan together at Kojima after he retcons the universe some more :p

Yes. Unless you're playing the PS3 version, which will run at

(let's see Bayonetta went from 60 to 20 to 30fps and MGS4 was sub30fps so)

10-15fps.

Vanquish PS3 actually has the edge over the 360 version.

He's answering his @ replies now, which I'm sure are a line of MGS related stuff

But the truth is... RT @brianjkim: If the rumor that @PG_Kamiya is making Metal Gear Solid: Rising is true, I may die from excitement.

Everyone is assuming that Kamiya being behind it means it will be a Bayonetta clone. Kamiya is quite a versatile director. There's no reason that it can't be a mix of speed-based stealth gameplay and sword action.
I'm imagining this with a Vanquish-style boost (to move past guards) and a lot of wall-jumping and craziness, and I'm liking the idea a lot.

Kamiya's achievements:

-Invented the modern action game genre
-Directed the best 3D modern action game
-Directed the best 2D action game
-Directed a spectacular Zelda-styled action adventure game
-Directed the best traditional Resident Evil

Stealth lol. Stealth would be nothing to this guy. Rising barely resembled a MGS game anyway.

Bayonetta lol

Vanquish ran the same on both consoles. Bayonetta on PS3 is mostly Sega's failure.

TTP is awesome - Nasu bros for life man [fist bump]

But I don't think this is happening.

I have no doubt something funky is going on with MGS: Rising, and maybe Platinum is involved, but I don't think he'll be directing MGS: Rising.

He's a guy that seems a little happier being involved in his own IP and his own projects.

Just my guess.

this is true. Kamiya doesn't even acknowledge the existence of the PS3 port.

Is it too much to hope for Naoki Maeda to deliver a talk on the game's troubled development history, followed by a live gameplay demo whilst dancing?

Whether he's making MGS: Rising or not, it's really exciting to know that Kamiya's next game should be at E3.
