The show is about a serial killer who eats people, lots of the supporting cast had bullseyes (or "Eat Me" signs) painted on them regardless of gender, it feels like people forget that sometimes.

Chilton is actually entertaining to watch. Freddie is the worst character on the show. This pandering is nothing to me!

My interpretation, granted we won't see anything else on screen likely towards this idea or any other in their relation, is that Alana being the mother to the heir of Verger empire was constructed by her for personal gain. It follows the theme that everyone Hannibal touches becomes this great manipulator. But on the flip side, Alana could see Verger being a Hannibal of sorts and sympathizing to Margot in that respect.

Definitely could've used more screen time. I felt it was in there for shock value and Hannibal, a worldly and understanding man, making the finger wagging joke makes me more inclined to think it was an afterthought.

From reading all this it sounds like not having seen any version of Red Dragon before is paying off for me. I liked the last episode a lot.

I too enjoyed the episode. I think maybe reading the non-spoiler points raised here before finally watching on demand today had me going in with low expectations.

But honestly, I didn't see anything wrong with the way it was handled. The Chilton substitute, as other have mentioned, worked better than I think Lounds would have. Armitage was fantastic. And I enjoyed the tongue in cheek of the interactions with Hannibal as well.

Now, I'm just set for a total let down in the finale. Sure, there will be a few scenes with Hannibal, but wrapping up the Red Dragon has to encompass most of it.

And, well, it's Mads' Hannibal that I will miss the most from the show.

I said it earlier in the thread that I really wish they had ended the series with the mid-season finale. It just would have left the series perfectly IMO.

Of course, I want it to continue, but in the absence of that, I'd like to remember the show as it left us just before the Red Dragon arc. Not that they've done a bad job with the material. On the contrary, I think it has been excellent. Yet it still felt like a side show to the larger vision Fuller had with Hannibal and Will. I guess ending on that side show bothers me a bit.

Keep in mind: Fuller has said this season would serve as a series finale if it had to (like all the previous seasons) but if it had led to a Season 4, it'd have been a Season 4 with Will and Hannibal that WASN'T Silence of the Lambs.

So to me - it's on the table that he could actually change the ending to Red Dragon. We might not know precisely what's coming here.

I believe it was Armitage who said in an interview or during the Comic Con panel that the (very vague finale spoilers)
arc would be very faithful to the source until the finale. I expect Hannibal to be far more involved in the climax than the character was in the book/movies.

The thing I'm most looking forward to about E13 is the (MUSIC SPOILERS)
original vocal track produced specifically for the finale that Fuller talked about.

This show's aural design has done no wrong, so it'll be exciting to see how this new type of soundscape (for the show, at least) fits into the tone of the universe.

Now that we are near the end I feel confident in saying that the Season 2 finale won't be topped. In fact, that episode is one of the best season finales I can remember.

Really wish NBC would do the right thing and put it up on their streaming site this Thursday. Another preseason football game on Saturday so us U.S. (NY) guys in all likelihood won't be getting it on Saturday.

If I was a fly fisher any made my own lours, I sure as hell would notice when and if someone completed one of my lours while I was out. I'm sure someone like Will would too. Especially at that stage in the season he isn't

It is, but you REAAAAAALLY shouldn't come in until you catch up. So much crazy awesome shit happens in the next seasons that it would be a shame to spoil it for yourself. :p

Yeah, ever since Bella died Jack has gone full-monster. Though I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't fully expect Chilton to be of much danger and that was a matter of Will's (and by extension Hannibal's) agency.

One thing, what are the chances we'll see Hannibal eat the nurse's tongue next episode? I've been quietly hoping we'd get that scene but with how glacially slow the first half of the season was, I suspect we won't get that scene due to lack of time.

If only they had caught Hannibal like three episodes earlier...

Yeah, outstanding scene. Hannibal's expressions... Just perfect.

I remember thinking that maybe that scene was a replacement for the tongue thing, because hey, it involves Hannibal slurping down a raw chunk of someone.

When I think of Hannibal coming to an end, I can't help thinking of Firefly too. It's a poor comparison for quite a few reasons, but the main things these shows have in common are a perfect cast with amazing chemistry, a great deal of potential for some really juicy storylines in future seasons, and an untimely cancellation. I want so badly to see Fuller's entire plan unfold. I especially want to see the final season, where he'd planned to write an original resolution for his version of the Hannibal universe.

It's easy to imagine this true series finale surpassing Season 2's in sheer dramatic power. All the history between Will and Hannibal, the intensity of their relationship... I'm sure one or both of them would kill the other, and it would be brilliant.

How frustrating to think that the creative team that did such wonderful things with this show has already dissolved, at least for now. Too soon. Too damn soon.

That's actually a very good point and one I hadn't considered. I would have loved to have seen him chomp down on the nurse, but this will do just fine as well.

They were foreshadowing Alana's death fairly overtly earlier this season. Seeing how she's been spared the "save yourself, kill them all" moment and now the "Do you see" moment, I wouldn't be surprised if she was transposed with the nurse's fate. It would certainly add some impact to what is essentially a throwaway line of dialogue in the books/films.

That said, she's been so astute and self-preservation oriented, it would be difficult to have the character get into such a dangerous situation.

They could still do it, but I'm doubtful considering he could only do it because of good behavior up to that point. Also, even though it was different, Fuller had a clear homage to it with Gideon in S1.

I actually like this quite a bit. Maybe the Dragon's story ends like it does in the book, sure: But Hannibal, Will, & Alana's sure as hell doesn't.

I wonder if Bedelia's gonna get some sort of "ending" too.

Just finished my rewatch S2. Man that season truly was legendary, one of all-time greats. I wonder what Fuller planned for the finale.

I hope the final episode is going to go out with a bang.

I think this last episode was only one of two or three this season I've actually genuinely enjoyed. Everything else has just crawled at a glacial pace and what I loved about the first two seasons of Hannibal was how quickly they moved and the interesting stuff that happened in those episodes.

I just haven't cared about most of the stuff that's happened this season or things just felt off. The first half felt more like a tippy fever dream too much of the time (used more sparingly I like it, but they just did so much of it), and the second half I haven't cared about the Red Dragon at all and Hannibal has barely done anything (him getting to slurp up the lip was one of the best things to happen this whole season). I'm kinda hoping Chilton dies of his injuries in the end because living ad a lipless burnt husk is horrific even for how weasily Chilton has been (plus pretty ridiculous on top of being shit and gutted already).

Maybe it's because I've seen Red Dragon and Hannibal (the movie) already, so I've already known a lot of what was going to happen already this season. Even if they've changed some of the details a bit I just haven't been interested in much of what's happened.

I definitely think in this version of the story, Jack is the one that winds up with the... "face that's hard to look at".

Cant believe there is only 1 more episode left, gonna be a sad time once it has finished :(

Been really enjoying this season, seeing Hannibal in his element in the first half was great because you really got to see how much of a monster he really is, instead of his 'restrained' version he was forced to have before being on the run. It was a nice turnaround since Hannibal always has that charm that makes you want to forgive him yet when he was on the run he really was terrible and truly scary.

They have also handled the Red Dragon section very well, great casting and i was more than happy with the changes made, even if Chilton is a great character that i didnt want to suffer the way he did :)

There's definitely going to be a lull of stuff to watch between the shows ending this/next week and the broadcast stuff starting in late September/early October.

My DVR schedule is going to be pretty anemic for a few weeks.
