I don't mean to harp on OP, but screenshots of tweets are so much better than direct links. Tweets, as Mr. Klepek has shown us in this very story, can be deleted and the link will break. Plus, Twitter is blocked at my work so I can never see these!!!!

Who is Patrick Klepek? Is he some kinda big shot in the games media? Yes, I´ve been living under a rock when it comes to "games journalism" and from the looks of those pictures in that Twitter link I´m kinda glad I did.

Sadly, the double-standard based on where one sits politically will continue to exist. Klepek has no problem working to get others from different ideologies or opinions fired, but when it’s him that fucks up and leaves the evidence behind? We’ll see what the outcome is— but the silence from his colleagues in the gaming press grows louder every minute.

Wouldn’t really care what this guy did in his college years, except some of it seems pretty shitty and he uses his platform to moralize everything from his point of view while pretending his point of view is objective. So, yeah he deserves to be exposed like this.

all this makes me really glad I just missed out on the internet (and really missed out on smart phones) as a kid. Today's generation are either going to be the most open and well rounded generation ever, or they're absolutely fucked, because nothing is getting forgotten.

Personally I think you judge people for how they are now. Some people grow as they get older, some people turn in to shits, you shouldn't get slaughtered or a free pass based on something from your (relatively) distant past.
That all being said, a little self-awareness goes a long way. If you know you did stuff when you were younger, accept that other people aren't going to be any different

Exactly. Calling out people for bad online behavior has been SOP for many on the liberal/progressive side of the fence, leading those on the opposite side to respond in kind.
Had people simply minded their own business and worried about themselves instead of judging the behavior of others, we wouldn’t be having people frantically working to scrub their social media histories and internet activity from years ago.

Now there’s no turning back, and those who initially championed the practice now desperately try to shield those in their sphere from getting taken down by the same weapon they created.
