woahhhhh slow down people mainstream reviewers are shills. lets wait till we get more reliable voices giving their opinion. dont get your hopes up.
Reliable voices like:

The "everything, ever, is woke"
"why is the 14 year old girl not sexy?"
"joel shouldn't have died! cuckmann is a shill"
"abby is a trans"

crowd?

Those people are retarded. We should ignore them.

Nah Marvel movies and The Last Jedi get/got rave reviews despite having uninspired, dull, and downright lazy writing. Critics nowadays are basically just shills or fart-huffers. Shit like Spider-Man Homecoming and Black Panther got high 90s on RT and those movies were as mediocre as they get.

I still think a movie/show adaption of the game is redundant. What the fuck is the point of having a cinematic game if you just turn into a literal show/movie anyway? What was the point of the game then? Why was it a game and not just a show to begin with? Kind of defeats the point of the game being it's own "art" if it can basically translate to a different medium without losing much.

I'm sure the show itself is good but after how bad TLoU2 shit the bed I basically lost all interest in the series at this point. Unless they just straight up change the adaptation of Part 2 I'm not watching Joel die over horrendous writing contrivances.

That's really playing semantics since the very same people who were involved are the people who are in fact running PlayStation Productions but as a full on subsidiary of SIE. Asad Qizilbash has worked for SIE since 2008 and has worked for Sony since 2005 (SCEA before Sony Electronics)...His previous title was VP of Global Marketing and his role was "Responsible for transforming PlayStation’s portfolio of gaming brands into global entertainment franchises." since 2017.
There is a huge difference between having a role licensing the IP out and having an actual dedicated production company to manage it. It's the difference between Marvel licensing their products to making it themselves

Point of the show is to grow the franchise and show it to audiences that will never pick up a controller in their life.

I truly don’t understand how a simple character Death can cause you to lose interest entirely in a series, and a studio as a whole. It makes no sense at all to me and is kind of childish.

I thought the people who stopped watching The Walking Dead because Glenn died were weird as well.

When my fav character dies in a fictional piece I don’t suddenly hate the goddamn existence of the show and the studio that makes it. That is weird.

Different strokes I suppose.

This is like the most retarded thing posted on this thread.

People grow attached to certain characters, and im not saying this to be cheeky or facetious but a lot of people substitute central figures in their personal lives for fictional characters.

I always hear people say certain music or tv saved their lives and stuff and I honestly think TLOU hit people so hard that overtime they just ended up attaching themselves to Joel and Ellie. When Joel died it probably really traumatized some of those people even if they aren’t fully aware of it. Thats why they’ve had such a visceral reaction to it, and why it still harbors resentment in them today. Killing Joel was like killing a piece of them, like a family member.

Thats just the power of media and storytelling, not really a knock on what people get out of it. There are probably fictional characters i feel taht strongly about also but not to the point of sending death threats and starting hate groups about it should the creators decide to off them. But again, thats me, everyone copes with things differently even if we think its silly to feel that way

Yeah... the people who make a living telling stories tend to be somewhat high-minded about those details.

And on the other hand, clowns whine about how a character doesn't look exactly like they did in the video game the story is based on. 🤷‍♂️
Saying that the character doesnt match the original medium doesnt equate them to being a closet racist or some kind of misogynistic arsehole

Thats a stretch by any imagination.

Unlucky as shows stream in what looks like 1080p here on NOWTV (Raised by Wolves is the last series I watched on there).

If its 720p looking for such a big show I will be pissed off.
720p unless you pay £5 for Now Boost (1080p).

The Last of Us 2 sold around 14 million copies. Why act as if it was a bomba?
Game was cheaper than a box of coco pops after a month.

If they can keep up the reviews and if they can hit a level of zeitgeist this show might become the biggest show of the year.

#1 It's score is around what it'll take to win an emmy
#2 it's views on the trailer suggest there is significant interest

Not many shows can be mega popular and critically acclaimed.

Still think it has a ceiling since it's about zombies and there is definitely zombie fatigue post-walking dead.

The Last of Us is an easier piece of fiction to turn into a successful show than is Halo, which involves space aliens, ancient alien weapons and artifacts, and biologically enhanced super soldiers. There's nothing controversial or disingenuous about a factual statement. In no way does it take credit away from all the work done on the show. Also, I don't take critic and user scores seriously, especially when you have the kind of pettiness that translates to sabotaged user reviews, which almost certainly transpired with that halo show.

Halo was the #1 show, the most watched thing on paramount plus in 2022 despite very strong competition.

Who the fuck subscribes to Paramount plus? The subs must be pitifully small compared to the big ones.

Looks so good it may convince my Mrs to do a playthrough of 1 and 2 with me...

....I'm so pumped but wish it wouldn't take 3 months to watch it all.

Atleast it covers an hour or so of great chill time once a week with the partner in crime.

Where the hell did you get that figure?

It should be around 11-12 million copies based on 37 million copies sales pr.

TLOU+Remastered - 23-24M(20 million units in 2019)
TLOU part 2 - 11-12M(10 million in march 2022)
TLOU part 1 remake - 1-2M

I don't know who you're talking to... but it can't be me since I never said anything like that. 🤷‍♂️

There's also the fact that Joel isn't even the only playable character on TLOU. Ellie has not only some hours of gameplay later into the game, she has the entire DLC for the first game as a playable character.

This Joel criticism would make sense if Lara Croft died after having this huge established IP and was replaced by someone else or something like this...

The man dies after a single game from a new IP where he's not even the only playable character and people cry like this. I'll never get it.

As I said in the thread where people were shitting on the trailer. There is no way the creator of Chernobyl (the best limited series I've ever seen alongside True Detective season 1) was going to put out a dud TV show.

Yep, bro fist to you, True Detective season 1 is one of the GOATs. I would only put Fargo season 1 ahead of it in terms of best series' seasons in recent times. If any of you ain't seen that you are missing out.

It sort of does when your whole argument is that the teenage girl isn't attractive enough. She's still a skinny, white, brown-haired girl with freckles. I'm not sure how much closer you can get.

Plus his arc was practically finished, I really appreciate the way the decided to end it, impactful and for his arc to pass with it to someone else. Masterfully done and definitely elevates the experience.

I personally dont give a shit, I have a suspicion it's going to be another show thats highly rated by critics and then the public string it up, seems to be a running trend as of late. In regards to that Rotten tomato score? Yeah, they've been a staple of honesty lately..

What I was saying is you cant lambast someone and imply they're a certain demographic just because they're a bit peeved the character doesnt look anything like the original medium, thats a stretch.

Mazin said that they shouldn't do spores in the show because it's not consistent with how airborne viruses work in real life. And that it wouldn't make sense the the viewer that's watching the show. As gamers, it's not an issue when playing the game because we are..............playing a game.
its not a virus...its fungus

Cordiceps do use spores to infect new hosts. That's my only disappointment to hear that they are not there but from the reviews I guess it won't be an issue.

But they look a lot like the characters in the game
