Microsoft / Activision Deal Approval Watch |OT|

I'm talking about the one posted earlier and others. He's talked a lot and his words don't match what is reported to be offered at all. So again....time to put up or shut up, Phil.
Put up or shut up to who? ..to you?

I'm sure Microsoft is talking to whoever they need to, if it works is another thing all together.

At least we know if this goes through, or doesn't....these bodies have done their full job and if it does go through...this deal has had so much scrutiny, that there is nothing we can say about it...if it doesn't go through...they found valid issues and it shouldn't go through...simple really.

I don't know what MS can "put up" to make people like yourself happy though.

Well no, if you actually read what I said then you would understand that I simply want what he says publicly to match reality. So yeah, you know exactly what would make "people like" myself "happy" but for some reason I have to repeat it over and over again.

This whole thing has been the longest dragged out political bs in years. And most of us here don't give a flying fuck about COD or candy crush lol.

I wouldn't mind the deal passing so I can play the single player campaigns I refuse to buy annually. (I think black ops was the last milking I bought)

They should just wrap shit up, cancel or approve and get over it. I want Sony and Xbox back to ego stroking boasting.

Your point was that MS would be held to keep COD on PS5 for 10 years even if Sony don't sign the contract because MS offered it to the CMA.
Either the whole offer is to be enforced or none of it is enforceable.
The CMA will say to Sony, "well it was offered to you but you chose not to accept it, that's now on you".
The contract isn't with the CMA, it's with Sony.
If Sony has the ability to not accept the contract, MS wont be held to it.

Sony apparently wants COD in PS+ for nothing. They don't want to pay for it.
That's just retarded, and even the poniest of ponies understands that that is just stupid, and MS wont do that.
The other point is that Sony is saying that MS might have extra content, or skins etc in the Xbox version compared to the PS 5 version which would be unfair as it might push people to get an Xbox and not a PS. The fact that they can say this with a straight face after paying ABK and other publishers to do that exact same thing with COD and Hogwarts for instance is amazing.
The hypocrisy of Jim Ryan is astonishing.

structural remedies are enforced through a combination of conditions imposed on companies, monitoring and oversight by regulators, and potential penalties for non-compliance.

The hypocrisy of Jim Ryan is astonishing.
your hypocrisy is even more.

Nintendo targets a specific audience and to this day maintains a stranglehold on that audience. A recognized fact by regulators. But if you know anything about gaming...
That's BS and you know it. Nintendo had Mortal Kombat before Sony even thought a game on Playstation was possible! You may have put Nintendo in a box but Nintendo hasn't. Look they just made a deal with MS for COD. What? you think it's going to be edited and G rated release? Come on you do better than that.

In the early days the gaming industry was built on loyalty and honor and behind door deals. This was why E3 survived all these years. Showing off games was only part of the reason for E3 (really a small part). These companies would meeting and talk and make big deals and commitments to each other. Now they have to trust each other with face to face Zoom calls. Opps forgot the most important thing E3 did, the booze would flow and parties were wild.
Whatever it is you have been smoking I want some.

Amazingly enough, the latest supercarrier was $13 billion to build. Microsoft is trying to buy ABK for the cost to build 5 Ford-class carriers. They literally have enough money to build their own navy and fight the UK.

Now let's see how much more that stirs the imaginations around here :messenger_beaming:
Clearly, MS should just buy 5 of the old aircraft carriers the US Navy will have been decommissioned after the Gerald Ford class replacements are built and invade the UK to force the deal to go through.

Inb4 you forgot the /s

Patcher is 100% confident deal will be approved and he has good points. If cma doesn't approve MS can create a new company and have the deal done.

He is confident everyone will need to submit to gamepass and Sony ans Ubisoft will be out of business soon or later.

Random tweet by a user NIB appeared on my timeline. Clicked on the replies and lo and behold. Our beloved SenjutsuSage SenjutsuSage is having a debate with randoms on the Internet. LOL!!

Contemplated replying to his ridiculous tweet but decided against it lol. "Who defined the market so narrow"

The gamers decided that definition has been this way for decades. MS has decided they want to turn the market on its head since they can't manage their studios adequately to compete and we are supposed to support the nonsense.

If that's the bullshit Patcher is spouting then he just made that up on a whim. I can assure you that manoeuvre isn't compatible with UK law and regulation.

Isn't that what divestment is? Microsoft wouldn't have control of thr COD IP in that case.

As for the second part that's just a fantasy.

Are you 5?

Is that actually how your thought process works?
Yeah mate I’m 5 🙄 Are you illiterate? I’m saying Microsoft would never do this. But don’t think for a second they can’t if they wanted to. They won’t because that’s a precedent you don’t want to set as a big tech company.

I suppose I'd be smoking something if I told you I sat in one of 4 Star Fox Star Fighters. Also, getting a chance to win a Gold N64 controller before they ever released them. The line was over 2 hours long for a chance at one of four planes playing against 3 other Star Fox players. Nah I was just smoking something good that day.

Was this posted yet?

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/elder-scrolls-6-might-release-105548288.html

In December 2022, Microsoft said that “three future titles” from ZeniMax would release on Xbox and PC only. At the time, the general consensus was that the three titles would be The Elder Scrolls 6, Redfall, and Starfield. But between December and now, the only ZeniMax game that has been released is Hi-Fi Rush, suggesting that it was one of the three games.

So we’re down to two now. Starfield is certainly an Xbox console exclusive and so is Redfall. That leaves us with The Elder Scrolls 6.

Totilo sought clarification from Microsoft but was denied a comment.

He makes a great point that marketing deals etc will secure you the best engineers at a studio and leaving others to focus on other ports. Sony doesn't want to lose this benefit.

So now he is embracing these console warrior theories about marketing deals being the reason why PS5 performance has been on par with XSX much of this gen?

Oh Hoeg.....

Sony make cringe trainers.
As usual, Hoeg Law brings the legal facts. Shame on all those who argue about these documents (like they were experts) without proper knowledge.

Sarcasm?

He doesn’t even grasp the immediate and apparent truth that the CMA already laid out the cheapest most effective measure. You can’t beat or match their proposed remedies with a ten year contract even if overseen by an independent party paid fully by MS.

He seems confused why the CMA would bring up Blizzard. Because the CMA is already addressing the problem of (we can’t just separate COD from Acti, we can’t just separate Acti from Blizzard).

Also he thinks Blizzard and King aid in the development of COD. Uh… wow, how about that?
