In all honestly I just expected a price drop just to remain competitive, it was asinine to expect a FF7 remake announcement.

The ffvii thing was a fun ride, I personally would have been happy with advent children on blu ray or any kind of spin off or even at least acknowledging it since this is the anniversary.
They still needed something to have impact whether it was ffvii or something from square, ico, or anything else and didn't bring it last night or today.

did anyone else see the White Knight Story gameplay video from Gamevideos?

I am surprised by how amazing that game looks, only problem I had is there was no enemy grabbing like in that old video.

I got the reference but what is this thread about?
It's about the whole Sony fanboy base hyping themselves up over the Sony TGS keynote when all the signs were there that nothing of earth-shattering significance would be presented there, minus the infamous Famitsu rumor mentioned above, which didn't even mention the keynote specifically.

I pointed out many times before, they haven't even considered doing an FF7 remake as of now. Unless they have been lying their ass off keeping a secret project under wraps, there would be no chance in an FF7 remake.

The only thing I could see them do is make FFVII-2 in the vein of FFX-2, a totally different game with an all female cast.

They come off of two strong events, software sales are picking up in japan a little and system sales are still better than they were a month or two ago.
They could continue the climb forward and take back some ground but instead we get this lackluster .... speech.
Home delayed? YOU DO NOT DO THAT SHIT ON STAGE YOU DO IT TWO WEEKS LATER.
Rumble? That is great except when it comes out after most of the games that use it.
No price drop not even to 499?

Seriously you make it hard to stay a believer and you better hope some devs pick up some slack.
I'm honestly shocked that they didn't spend more time focusing on upcoming PS3 titles. I mean, isn't that the entire point of a keynote, to set a positive tone for your event and to motivate attendees? Hard to accomplish that when some of your biggest announcements are the continued delays of highly anticipated products. Why even bother mentioning something silly like that, when you could've built some real momentum by showing off a few of those incredible looking games?

It's simply amazing to me that they could sit through Microsoft's keynote last week and watch on-stage demonstrations of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Lost Odyssey, but didn't feel it necessary to at least give us a small sample of what they have to offer, especially in a holiday season that's absolutely critical.

it was not a famitsu rumor.

It was something posted on 2ch, and some morons here at gaf posted it in the famitsu thread, making people think it was a famitsu rumor.

I wrote this in the PSN thread but these new TGS trailers are up on the JPN PSN store.

forgive spelling

Imabikisou
ryu ga gotoku kenzan
gallian chronicles image movie
soul calibur iv
loco roco
dynasty warriors 5
record of agarest war
sega rally

What a completely underwhelming keynote.

Taken on it's own there is some stuff in there that I'm excited for (namely the fleshing out of the remote play function) but otherwise it was pretty bad. Not as bad as last years but then again that's probably impossible.

I don't think they have any power whatsoever when it comes to deciding on the timing of such a remake.

Kids overreacting total...

Did you guys see the keynote last year at TGS? It was god damn horrible... until the REAL EVENT started and when the megatons started rolling in one by one (WKS, DMC4, MGS4 etc.). The Sony keynotes at TGS are always crap.

A trailer of mostly old footage with games we already knew were coming. What's significant about that?

I'm not saying that they had to feature an on-stage demo of a big-name title in order to have a successful keynote, but it would've been nice to see something a bit more substantial than a trailer reel.

It looks huge, all the characters are properly self-shadowed, thank god. And the enemies are there on the map, no random battles bullshit, and they stay there after they die. Awesome-wowsome.

What I want to know is how the hell Sony is planning to come up with having a total of 380 games (200 B&M + 180 PSN) by the end of March 2008 (http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/32563/98/) that Stringer promised back in June. Even if this counts titles already announced, that still leaves a bunch to be revealed. If a lot aren't shown on the floor, when are they going to start showing these? November? Wait til after Christmas? They have to already know all the titles that have been in the works all this time and ready to release by then. Whether all the titles make it by then or not, we should be at least seeing promotions of them (unless most are shovelware, lol).

Anyway, the DualShock 3 itself was no surprise, but what this did confirm is that they will not be selling the new controller bundled with a console anytime soon. I was wondering how they would have done that since that would have introduced even another SKU, but it does not make sense that they are delaying the release to other regions so long from the Japan one. If they are truly responding to customers, they know the customers all want it as soon as possible.

Nintendo got ripped around here for doing that at E3 this year, people should expect Sony would get a similar response.

Looking back at that link, I guess it depends on your definition of "debut," maybe they meant total games announced and not released! That sort of thing can happen at any time and in large numbers! Get your PR-spin think-cap on, it'll make sense, really!

Thing is, in Japan the PS3 is currently already 50,000 yen-62,000 yen. Which is $430 (20GB + Casino Royale; yes it still exists) to $535 (60GB + Hot Shots Golf 5 Bundle).

A price drop from the current Japanese prices are unrealistic and likely won't help sluggish Japanese sales (remember, TGS is about the Japanese market, not the US market). The problem with the PS3 in Japan is that there are few games that appeal to the core Japanese gamer. Sony has clearly focused on the Western gamer with the PS3, which has alienated the domestic fan-base and have lead to negative sentiment towards the PS3 in Japan. In Japan, things really won't pick up until WKS, GT5P, MGS4, and FF13.

The Gallian Chronicles video is amazing.

I know I'm being ignored, but you guys will be talking about it probably tomorrow.

I'm just disappointed that no new games were announced.

I really don't give a rats ass about Home.

And I don't really need a rumble controller until they start shipping some games worth playing. I guess if Uncharted is good, I'll be bummed about the late controller.

At this point I'm starting to assume my PS3 will be little but a Blu-Ray player that will let me play MGS4 when it eventually comes out.

so, let me get this straight:

eight days
getaway
heavy rain
2 team ico games
eyedentify
infamous
gretzky nhl

are all announced games.

plus, we don't know what the hell jaffe and his new studio are cooking for ps3 (only know a bit), we don't know about the rockstar exclusive, we don't know about new games from capcom, square and konami. also, does the deal with evolution means that we will finally get a sequel to the WRC series?

what's the suspense for? i mean, someday we will find out about those games... but when? how many of those we will see at TGS? or only new stuff for PSN?

Alot of people were hoping for a FFVII remake.

There's still some hope for that one. I mean, it was gonna premiere at a Japanese event, so if it hasn't hit any milestone bumps there might be a special showing sometime during TGS.

Sony is making a third NHL game? What kind of boneheaded move is that?

1) There are two good NHL games already.
2) NHL games is a pretty small market.
Sorry Canadians.

WTF are you doing? You are going to alienate two developers working hard to make games for your platform by crowding an already small market.

Use that team to develop games the PS3 needs, not games it already has!

Sheesh, sometimes it seems Sony is trying to screw up.

Edit: Is this real? It looks like a dead project.(?)

seems strange, but i heard this week. i thoight it was dead and buried also. but them again, they make an nba game that sucks and shouldn't be made, so i still believe gretzky is for real.

Yeah yeah Kittonwy, it's anime style.
Grumpy from your ban sleeps?

It's just amazing how far cel-shading has come, it looks perfect in this game.
The screenshots made it look, well, pretty, but in motion it's a beast.

I read the thread title, I clicked the first post, I checked the last page, I read some other random pages, I have no idea what actual information is contained in this thread

I'll make some wild guesses

Something about sony TGS keynote sucking, whining, counter whining, one or two reactionary trolls banned, a few topic changes, 48 pages of posts, nothing of interest actually occurs in the keynote
